Great first stay at the Metterra!

Stayed here recently for 6 nights and had 1 King Bed Studio that I booked with Expedia. The room was a corner one on the 2nd floor, very spacious, with separate bedroom and living room with sofa bed and small kitchenette (including sink). The two rooms were separated by glass door/walls, but it was perfectly sufficient for two working adults. There was no cutlery in the kitchenette. The room also came with an outdoor patio with table and chairs. Very comfortable and well appointed room, even though it was a bit noisy due to air conditioning vents on the roof. The room came with complimentary breakfast (hot foods: meats, eggs, hash potatoes; cereals, fruit, yoghurt & fresh smoothies, bread etc) and it was quite nice and fresh. We also used their valet parking for oversized vehicles, and it was very convenient. All in all we had a good stay here, and would not hesitate to return when in the area.

A beautiful spot to enjoy the area of White Avenue with many restaurants just steps away. You also will receive first rate hospitality with an excellent breakfast to start your day! I highly recommend a stay at this hotel.
Interesting Neighbourhood

An interesting location with lots of quirky stores and many restaurants and bars to choose from. On weekends there is an old tram you can walk to that will transport you downtown. We were there on a weekday so were unable to try it but look forward to doing that next time. Our room was a bit dark but very spacious and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was great and staff did a good job of resupply and looking after guests. The parking, as noted by others is a bit iffy. We couldn't get a parking spot on the busy street to check in so had to circle for a while. We did self-park after that and it was fine.
Will return but will park elsewhere

I chose this hotel due to the location and because I'd had a good experience the last time I'd stayed here. I encountered a major problem shortly after checking in. The taps in my room were spewing out brownish coloured water, which left a silty residue in the sink and tub. This was apparently due to maintenance work that had been going on earlier in the day, but this wasn't mentioned at check in. The staff ultimately helped us to change rooms, though this took awhile. We were offered a room upgrade for the inconvenience, which was much appreciated. I was irritated by the staff requesting tips for the complimentary buffet breakfast by leaving a "bill" on each table - this would only make sense if they were providing table service. I was also disturbed by the state of the hotel's parkade - water was pouring from the ceiling during a storm and did not drain away for the duration of my stay (several days).
Comfortable hotel in a trendy location

There are many great features in this hotel including the delicious full breakfast buffet and the friendly helpful staff. The gym facility was sufficient and the rooms are quite spacious and well-equipped. The parking can be tricky as the few spots out front are usually occupied but the staff provides support and will retrieve your car from other spots on the block for valet parking.
