Just fine

NYEK (New York City, New York) on Apr 27, 2024

The hotel is a mixed bag. The best thing about it is the service - everyone goes out of their way to help and be friendly. Kudos for that! The food in the restaurants, all three of them, is also very good. Beware, the pics here are old. There is no more beach, it was washed away by a hurricane a couple of years ago and now there is only the deck without the front portion with sand that you see in the photos here. That was disappointing to some degree, although not a deal breaker. I guess it is the same for the hotels nearby, so that the Seven Miles Beach is not actually one continuous beach you can walk, you can barely see any beach at all in any direction. In terms of location, it is not bad but beware that if you are not renting a car, taxis are VERY expensive. It is easily 20-30USD to Georgetown, 10 minutes away. The island infrastructure is built for cars so walking, although possible, is not going to be pleasant. Other than the front deck, the hotel offer some recreational activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking. They also have one Hobie Cat but it is shared with another location so it may not be there when you want it. You have to tell them a day in advance to make sure. You can certainly snorkel right in front of the hotel but I would recommend getting on a boar with an outfitter. In general, the island is pretty expensive, whether it is transportation, food, or services. Also be prepared to be charged $50 "resort fee" per day. Didn't they do something about these hidden fees from hotels?

Best server ever!

Departure07694442506 on Apr 25, 2024

We were so fortunate to have Dehemah as our server both days that we were at the Marriott in Grand Cayman. She was friendly, helpful, caring, courteous, polite and always checking on us with her warm and welcoming smile. Her recommendations were perfect and she had nothing but great things to say about our "home away from home". While she was not a local, she seems very happy in Cayman and definitely focused on her future. We wish her the best and hope to meet up with her again! Thank you, Dehemah!

Facilities poor, Staff awesome

Samantha H on Apr 22, 2024

As most of the recent reviews have mentioned the property is in process of being updated. The rooms look good after overhaul however cannot comment on how they were before. However the renovations meant that the gym had been moved temporarily to 2 bedrooms on 3rd floor which did not really work - hot, sweaty and cramped! Outside and communal space looks tired and worn so hoping this is on the plans of continued renovations to update as well. Due to the beach disappearing from hurricanes etc I felt quite closed in at this hotel only being able to escape via the long drive onto main road. In addition I feel the pool area was very crowded with the fact there was no beach either. I stayed next door at Hampton Court Hilton for a few nights before and they had a complimentary shuttle that ran the full length of seven mile beach as well as lending out free beach equipment to take with you which I thought was a great idea due to the fact they had no beach either - Marriott could learn from this perhaps? I feel I would have given my stay only 3 stars due to the above short fallings of the hotel and facilities. However the excellent staff made the stay more enjoyable for sure! ALL of them went above and beyond but in particular I would like to mention Ashley, Rey - front desk, Nealey, Gregon - bellboys, and some lovely woman who I sadly don't know her name who served me at the fabulous breakfast buffet.

Anniversary and Family trip

kathy w on Apr 10, 2024

This was our 4th trip to the Grand Cayman Marriott. Celebrating our 49th WA . We had our son, his wife and grandson join us. Given that it was Easter break when we arrived the staff did an amazing job of accommodating my request to have an adjoining room so we could be close together. We were upgraded to the 5th floor with a full ocean view . You just can't get enough of looking at the blue waters and spectacular sunsets. I would like to recognize the following people who were outstanding in their service. Noelia, Ashley and Rey - Front desk. A warm and gracious welcome . Katrina- housekeeping - a very hardworking lady keeping our room comfortable. Lorna - housekeeping- even though she did not clean our room I have to give her a mention for her smile and pleasant words every time we passed by her. Conrad, Ashiberi and Jerome - I don't know how these guys are able to always have smiles on their faces each day and give hugs for free! Dehemah ( Miss Diamond) who shines like her name, Jimena, Sukovo and Siddharth- pool service. 5 stars! to everyone. Lastly, all this would not have been possible but for one person. Mr. Luis Guillen who I was fortunate to meet on our last trip. When he knew we were returning for this special occasion he stayed in touched and worked his magic to make this a trip we will never forget. Thank you so very much Luis.... Mr. Hermes Cuello, the General manager. Kudos to you ! You must be very proud to have these excellent people at his hotel.
