Anniversary and Family trip

kathy w on Apr 10, 2024

This was our 4th trip to the Grand Cayman Marriott. Celebrating our 49th WA . We had our son, his wife and grandson join us. Given that it was Easter break when we arrived the staff did an amazing job of accommodating my request to have an adjoining room so we could be close together. We were upgraded to the 5th floor with a full ocean view . You just can't get enough of looking at the blue waters and spectacular sunsets. I would like to recognize the following people who were outstanding in their service. Noelia, Ashley and Rey - Front desk. A warm and gracious welcome . Katrina- housekeeping - a very hardworking lady keeping our room comfortable. Lorna - housekeeping- even though she did not clean our room I have to give her a mention for her smile and pleasant words every time we passed by her. Conrad, Ashiberi and Jerome - I don't know how these guys are able to always have smiles on their faces each day and give hugs for free! Dehemah ( Miss Diamond) who shines like her name, Jimena, Sukovo and Siddharth- pool service. 5 stars! to everyone. Lastly, all this would not have been possible but for one person. Mr. Luis Guillen who I was fortunate to meet on our last trip. When he knew we were returning for this special occasion he stayed in touched and worked his magic to make this a trip we will never forget. Thank you so very much Luis.... Mr. Hermes Cuello, the General manager. Kudos to you ! You must be very proud to have these excellent people at his hotel.

Perfect for us

rychp2019 (Grasonville, Maryland) on Apr 09, 2024

We had a wonderful time in Grand Cayman and the Marriott was perfect for our needs. Location: The hotel is close to the airport and easy to get to. It’s about half way between downtown Georgetown and the tip of west bay. It’s on 7 mile beach and has a beautiful view of the ocean. Transportation: We rented a car because we like to get out and about on our own schedule. There is plenty of parking and all of the west side attractions are close by. We did see the buses and taxis, but we did not use them. The buses are just big vans and always looked packed and uncomfortable. Walking Distance: The Marriott is within short walking distance of Peppers, Coconut Joes, and Ms Pipers, and a couple strip malls that have a ton of options. A longer (15 minutes) will get you to Tillies, Camana Bay, ATM machine, and Fosters Grocery Store. Pool: Pool area is nice, clean, and adequate. There is a hot tub. If you want to claim a chair, you need to be down there early to get a towel. The Beach: yes, there is no beach whatsoever. You walk off the patio directly into the water. It’s very rocky for the first 50 feet, so get some water shoes. There are reef balls with some marine life for snorkeling. We rented snorkel equipment from the dive shop up the street. There is a Red Sail shop near the pool bar that rents equipment, but you must return it all each day by 4:30. We are not big on sitting on the beach all day, and there are plenty of beaches that are close by. So, if you want to have a beach at your hotel , this is not your place On Site Restaurants: Anchor and Den: We had sushi and breakfast from Anchor and Den. Sushi service starts at 5:00 and was good. There are different themed nights on Tues, Thursday, and Saturday. Breakfast Buffet on the weekends. Veranda: We did not eat there. Pool Bar: We had some lite fare and drinks and they were very good. There is a juice bar, specialty coffee, crepes, and pastries available in the lobby in the mornings. There is complimentary coffee on the lobby bar. Room: We stayed in one of the freshly remodeled rooms on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard. It looks like all of first floor rooms are under construction. We did hear some noise in the room below us during the day, but it wasn’t a big deal to us. If it would be a big deal to you, then I would ask to be placed in an upper floor. The room was clean, and smelled great. No musty odor whatsoever. Crowds: With the first floor rooms entirely under construction, and rooms still available, it was obvious that the hotel was not at full capacity. It never felt overcrowded, which is a benefit of the construction and presumably the lack of beach. Ao, we feel it was worth the trade-off. Recap: We loved it and would certainly return. We are not the family that stays at the resort the entire time. We like to venture off and do our own thing and a big sandy beach in front of our hotel is not important to us. So, if those are important to you, you might be disappointed. But, if you need a clean, friendly place with good food that’s centrally located, the Marriott will be perfect for you.

Marriott - Very Enjoyable for Family

John M on Apr 05, 2024

Marriott Grand Cayman was wonderful. Staff was excellent. They worked hard to make sure you had a great time. Pool Staff - the men that find you a place to sit and get umbrellas for you (O’Brian, Vincent are a few I remember but all are high quality) these men work so hard and they do not stop all day- kudos!! We had an excellent pool deck waiter - (Shuvra, I may have misspelled) he was hustling making sure we had all we wanted. Valet - the valet staff, they go the extra mile to make sure if you need to go somewhere they are guiding you. We went to the Westin and we were going to walk but they quickly said take our bikes! Great recommendation. Taxi would have been probably 15 US but now it was free. As I said like the pool deck men, the valets are excellent. Karl was extremely helpful upon arrive with finding us a place to change for the pool while waiting for our room and finding taxi’s with credit card availability. Room - We had a Junior Suite Oceanfront and it was very nice. View was spectacular!! Beds were comfortable, bathroom was really large and nice. Housekeeping did a good job, fast cleaning and fresh towels. Very happy. We had 2 occasions where the TV stopped working, which wasn’t a big deal because you really don’t watch much tv but we do like to watch a move at night. Staff fixed the unit. Amenities - pool, very nice - guess it would be nice if it was bigger since there is no beach. Drinks - excellent adult cocktails and kids love the ice cream smoothies. Ate breakfast on site which was good and had dinner at Veranda which was very good too. Only downside for Marriott is lack of beach & when you do enter the water it is really rocky, consider some sort of water shoe. The hotel does a great job with floats anchored to the seabed and the pots off shore are really nice to snorkel. Especially for novice folks like us. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank You

wonderful weather and nice accomodations

Camper41625 (Massachusetts) on Apr 04, 2024

the woman at the pool gift shop was amazing! And, Mona at the cafe inside was also incredible! Our room was nice and well kept. The only disappointing item was the beach was washed away from the last hurricane and getting in/out of the water via stairs was painful! Climbing over the large and small rocks caused alot of cuts on our legs.
