Great Hotel on the Harbor

A1542NJones (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) on Jun 19, 2024

Great place to stay. Employees were cordial, room was clean and comfortable. Marriott will do anything to make your trip accommodating, any questions just ask at the front desk. Nice breakfast. Beautiful grounds overlooking the water. Nice boardwalk

Terrible experience at Halifax Marriott Harbourfront hotel

Blair B on Jun 18, 2024

I try to enjoy myself at this hotel but they really assault the visitor with the lousy music choice and the volume of the music. As I wait under the loud speaker for a second run of breakfast eggs as the first ones were cold, I have to listen to music louder than I have ever encountered in any other Marriott hotel. Montreal, Toronto, Quebec, Vancouver, Moncton, Charlottetown, England, Holland, Scotland, USA, Ireland and even Halifax at another location is my measuring stick for this music. I am told by staff who must not realize their hearing is endangered by the constant music of sad love songs with words that go up in down in volume until reaching heights one expects is a poorly managed pub. "it is Marriott standard" Horrible way to start the day. Terrible response. Disruptive to a quiet enjoyment. Management may respond 'thank you for the review, we work hard" but have never come and stood with me to listen to what I am complaining about after I have made several direct complaints to the front desk. The staff tell me yes it is loud. Then they repeat "Marriott Standard". Now they have pods in the lobby to get away from the music. Try concentrating at the open table computer. If you must use their food service take it to your room if you have good hearing.

Great Hotel in Halifax

Frank513 (Isle of Palms, South Carolina) on Jun 03, 2024

Our 6 night stay was excellent. The staff, to a person, was courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and went out of their way to address all issues and our needs. Truly exemplary. Our room was very nice, and comfortable, and the hotel’s location is on the wharf and convenient to all attractions and a plethora of restaurants. If eligible to use the Lounge, quite different from the norm. It was relocated during COVID to a room next to the main dining room. Both breakfast and the evening offerings are off of a reduced menu and are sourced directly from the kitchen. Fresh, hot, and tasty. We highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Halifax, and we would absolutely stay again if in Halifax.

Nice surprize.

MarieS5073 (Quispamsis, Canada) on May 25, 2024

We chose this The Halifax Marriott Harbour View for the location. The reception we received when we first arrived was friendly, professional, and check in was quick with no problems. Our room was above expectations. We were upgraded from a small king bedroom to a large suite, with a sitting area, and a two sided fireplace, and a whirlpool tub. What a beautiful surprize for my birthday celebration. The restaurants' staff were courteous, friendly, and wonderful at suggesting items on the menu. Hats off to Emma and Jenn (I only wish I could recall the other two waitresses who served us for morning breakfasts) The food was served promptly, hot, and appealing to the eye. Not only was it such as mentioned, everything we had for our four meals was exceptional. I am still craving the enchiladas and the fritters. I was told by another patron, the chowder is the best he had in Nova Scotia, and is a must try. The first night we arrived we thought we would do take away. I was disappointed when we requested take away to bring to our room. I found the items in the boxes unappealing to the eye, as everything was just placed on top of each other in extremely small boxes. For this reason I would recommend that people eat in the restaurants or in the concierge lounge. The selections of various alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverage is very good, and the staff is wonderful. I would recommend this hotel, and its restaurants, and concierge lounge.

First time visitor but not last

classic7372016 (Toronto, Canada) on Apr 04, 2024

I recently stayed at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and i was very pleased with everything about the hotel. The check was swift and efficient, I was even able to arrange for my daughters check in two days hence. My room was 579 and had a good view of the harbour though the weather was not cooperating. Room 579 was the room that had access to the lounge where smaller portions were offered from the same menu as the restaurant. Dont like the view from your room, well ya get what ya pay for, so when you show ventilation stacks in your comments, thats unfortunate you try to substantiate your disappoint with tactics like that. The room was clean, everything worked, thermostat was easy to control, the tv had a wide variety to choose from and the numerous staff i bumped into were friendly beyond belief. I went to the restaurant one evening after attending the Mooseheads hockey game and the Mexican Chicken soup was a treat and the steak sandwich was done to order. As for breakfast at the lounge, it is the same breakfast you order at the main restaurant....only you dont have to pay for it. As for convenience, there is indoor access to the casino, a short walk to just about anywhere downtown.
