This is my birthday weekend and I have never been more impressed by hotel staff! It started with Reilly at the front desk who helped me extend our stay here, sent up birthday goodies and made me feel welcome! At breakfast this morning I got a brownie treat with candle atop and singing staff ! This is a great hotel in an excellent location and the staff is simply amazing!

One of the reasons I selected this hotel for my family's two-night stay was its waterfront location. With a few exceptions, it was within short walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Because we were visiting during the Natal Day holiday weekend, I booked the room a little more than four months in advance. The hotel does not offer queen beds. Since the rooms with one king and a sofa bed cost substantially more than the two double-bed rooms, it didn't make sense to choose that option. The Check-In Delay Check-in time was supposed to be 4:00 PM. When we arrived at 3:45 PM, we were told we couldn't check us in because no rooms were available. They weren't able to provide us with our two double-bed guest room until 5:00 PM, an hour late. There was certainly no convenience here. Where is my one-hour discount, Halifax Marriott? Maybe I will send them an invoice. The Cost Breakdown Saturday Night (August) + Parking Privileges: • Room Charge: $465.00 • HST Room Tax (14.42%): $67.05 • Occupancy/Marketing Levy Tax (3%): $13.95 • On-Site Garage Parking Fee: $27.00 • HST Parking Tax (14%): $3.78 • Total for Night 1: $576.78 Sunday Night (August) + Parking Privileges: • Room Charge: $460.00 • HST Room Tax (14.42%): $66.33 • Occupancy/Marketing Levy Tax (3%): $13.80 • On-Site Garage Parking Fee: $27.00 • HST Parking Tax (14%): $3.78 • Total for Night 2: $570.91 Grand Total: $1,147.69 for a two-night weekend stay in a room without a harbor view. (Note: They also offer off-site parking for $17 daily or valet parking for $40. Amenities include a fitness center, an indoor heated pool and whirlpool, golf simulators, and soundproof Maggie pods, though we used none of these.) Dining at Harbourstone: A Total Disaster The hotel features several on-site dining options, including the Balancing Rock Coffeehouse, Harbourstone, and the seasonal Stone's Throw Patio. We dined at Harbourstone, and it was certainly not the "elevated dining" experience advertised. The service was terribly slow, half the menu was unavailable, they got our order wrong, and it was wildly overpriced for the lack of quality provided. Instead of "elevated," Harbourstone should be described as a total trainwreck with severe operational issues. Our experience was deeply flawed. Go elsewhere. Anywhere else.

For other travellers please beware of this hotel, and maybe consider booking an alternative. We however are stuck with this hotel, as all other hotels in the area are fully booked as we explored alternatives….. We arrived early around 12:30, registered with reception but as it was early did not expect the room to be ready. The receptionist told us to park up, and the room key would later give us access to the car park for the rest of our stay. We were also given a keycard to give us access to the M Club lounge (more on this later) as our room rate gave us access to this facility. We were given the option to wait in the M Club Lounge for our room, or to go out and about and receive a phone call when the room became available to enable us to return to the hotel….. all seemed good at this point. We opted for the later, and returned to the hotel at 15:30 as we still had not had a phone call. (Good job we had not wasted all afternoon waiting). We were allocated a double room M Club Access. The attached photo shows what you get given for $800 a night room, an obscured view of 60% of the window, leaving very little natural light. The point for other travellers is that this room is at a premium to the cost of a harbour view room. To say the least this was upsetting. Numerous attempts were made to change the room. ‘Computer says No’ was the common response. In truth the hotel was busy and other hotels fully booked, so cancelling became not an option. So we settled in to our stay with the most miserable view of a hotel room I’ve had ever had the good fortune to have (or not in this case). Other points to note the hotel lists itself as 4star, and to be listed as a 4 star basic amenities have to be supplied as basic. One being an in room safe…. Not in this room. Also a fully length mirror… again sorry not this time. So 4 star may be stretching it when the basics as laid out in code are not in place. Also if travelling as a couple in a double room, this hotel would be surprised if both people wanted to charged mobile phone etc. charging facilities are only supplied on one side of the bed. Given no access to the second person. No modern USB chargers are available in room either. The next closest charging point is the desk area on the other side of the room. Now let’s get onto the M Club. The reason we had such a poor room is that it appears now it is impossible to book M Club Access and a harbour view. Quite ironic given the hotel name. However given our disappointments, and not having been given the promised phone call leading to checking in later than hoped we made our way to the lounge for 1700. A further point needs to be made to other travellers of value, is that the M Club in Canada charges for beers /wines etc at the normal hotel bar cost, and is not free as in many other locations (as is in Europe for example). That aside we placed our order just after 1700, but sadly even though the lounge was not busy we had been waiting over 25 minutes for our drinks. We spoke to the hostess and cancelled the drinks as we needed to be somewhere else by 1800. The hostess in the lounge seemed shocked that a 25 minute wait was not acceptable. Another 25 minutes of frustration, time on holiday wasted. Never mind only 2 days more to suffer this awful hotel…… In short look somewhere else, hopefully a hotel that is interested in customer satisfaction, but if you have to book this hotel as a last resort, save yourself the money on an M Club room with miserable views it just is not worth it

Excellent! The room was comfortable with every amenity provided; housekeeping was outstanding; the front desk service was personable, efficient and thorough. The hotel's location was perfect: on the harbor boardwalk; close to historical sites (maritime museum, the citadel, Province House etc.) We enjoyed our stay!

Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is a beautiful hotel on the harbourfront. Elizabeth, Reily, Akash, Anish and Nicole provided excellent service to us at the front desk. From the checkin and check out our experience was superb. I would like to thank Akash for saving me as we forgot the toothpaste and he went above and beyond in providing me the toothpaste. Each hotel staff made sure that we enjoy our visit. Sushma from house keeping was great too. We visited Harbourstone Restaurant (Harbourstone pour house) located in Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. Our first experience was phenomenal with Dania. She was wonderful and had excellent experience from start to finish. She provided excellent service and made our first visit even more enjoyable as she made by brother’s birthday special. She gave him a wonderful birthday chocolate. She provided excellent service and made our visit even more enjoyable with her thoughtful recommendations. We went back for Breakfast and London provided excellent service. All the breakfast entrees were excellent. On Sunday evening, we went back for dinner. We made reservations. Excellent service provided by Lauren, Sharon and Tushar. Tushar went above and beyond in making sure that my brother enjoys his birthday. A special thank you to Tushar, Dania and London for their outstanding service, friendly personality, and for making our dining experience so pleasant and memorable. Everything was delicious whether it be Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Appetizers! The food was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and truly mouth-watering. The desserts were the perfect way to finish our meal. We will be returning to this restaurant the next time when we are in Halifax. Highly recommended to our family and friends! Recommendations to improve: The hotel rates are expensive since on harbour but the plumbing and lighting needs to improve in the room. Also on our first day the complimentary water bottles in the freeze were two different brand. We were not sure if these bottles were used before and when checked with housekeeping, she told me that she did not have same brand water bottles therefore kept assorted. Next day, we noticed all the water bottle with the same brands. We had a wonderful stay at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. The hotel has a beautiful harbourfront location, and the service throughout our visit was exceptional. A special thank you to Elizabeth, Reily, Akash, Anish, and Nicole at the front desk for their warm and professional service during check-in and check-out. Akash went above and beyond when we realized we had forgotten toothpaste and kindly arranged it for us. Sushma from housekeeping was also wonderful and attentive. Every staff member made an effort to ensure we had a pleasant and enjoyable stay. We also had an excellent dining experience at Harbourstone Pour House. Dania made our first visit truly special, providing outstanding service and thoughtful recommendations. She also made my brother's birthday memorable with a lovely birthday chocolate. We returned for breakfast, where London provided excellent service and the breakfast entrees were delicious. On Sunday evening, we returned for dinner and received exceptional service from Lauren, Sharon, and Tushar. Tushar went above and beyond to make my brother's birthday special. A sincere thank you to Dania, London, and Tushar for their friendly, attentive service and for making our dining experiences so memorable. Everything we tried—from breakfast and appetizers to lunch, dinner, and desserts—was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and delicious.Areas for improvement: While the harbourfront location is beautiful, the room rates are quite expensive. We also felt that the plumbing and lighting in the room could be improved. On our first day, the complimentary water bottles in the refrigerator were from different brands, which initially made us wonder whether they had been previously used. Housekeeping explained that they had assorted brands available. The following day, however, the bottles were all from the same brand, which was reassuring. Overall, we had a wonderful and memorable stay and would gladly return when visiting Halifax. We highly recommend the hotel and Harbourstone to family and friends!
