Lovely hotel in waikiki - Elvis used to stay here too
Roy C (The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom) on Nov 07, 2025
Lovely hotel on the end of Waikiki beach, furthest from Diamond head - and so a beach walk away from where most of the 'action' is on waikiki. I moved hotel after a few days, though this it perfectly located for those that want quieter beach, perhaps a little less busy. Hotel has a lovel adjacent pool area to the sea, perfect for families and younger children - safe from the currents and offers swimming and other water sports. Hotel has some lovely rooms, especially in Rainbow tower where you can get rooms with wrap around view facing the sea and sunsets, Good beach bar and restuarant lunch and a large variwty of shops in the village. Felt the hotel was stingy on water, even as a diamond member, only got two bottles of water for my whole stay! Whenever you use the events desk or concierge type service, everthing seems to take longer as there such a big focus on booking you in for a two hour tour of their vacations club. the staff are incentivised so it's aways a push and is too much really. Has a nice swimming pool area with plenty of seating and at seat service for food and drinks. WOuld stay here again, especially the room in Rainbow tower.
WARNING - DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!

DO NOT BOOK YOUR ROOM DURING THE PROTEST. If you book during the protest, the hotel managers will not do anything if there are issues. Their excuse is that since you book it during the protest, you as the customer knew the risks and are willing to accept subpar service at full price when their email clearly stated that the protest should not have any effect on our stay. Room service is lacking, you have to take out your out trash and get your own amenities, and endure noise disturbance from 7AM-10PM from either construction or protest. AVOID AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE IT’S ONLY THE BEST 1-STAR MOTEL I EVER EXPERIENCE. And yes, I said motel, not hotel!
Please do not visit ANY portion of Hilton Village area!

We did not enjoy a moment on the property. There is a huge strike by workers and they are in large numbers all over the properties using bullhorns and screaming from 7am until 10pm, my MIL didn't feel comfortable walking alone. No room services at all - towels and trash left out. Had to buy our own toilet paper! No heads up and no one to speak with. $85 resort fee for what exactly?? Hilton honors member even but will never stay here again.
Great family time at the Hilton GVC Lagoon Tower

We stayed in a studio suite in the Lagoon Tower, room 871. This is part of the Grand Vacations Club - so check in is separate from the main Hilton Hawaiian Village - and this is nice, because it's less busy. The studio room had a king size bed, and a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave as well as some basic dishes for use. There a table for 2 as well. This room does not have a lanai and it overlooks the marina side and the Illikai Hotel across the street. Having stayed in a one bedroom suite with lanai in this same tower before, this room was not as nice, but perfectly adequate for our needs. This room also has a door to the adjoining suite - so you can hear a bit of what's going on next door. You can also hear the Luau music when that's going on. Also neat is the Japanese style toilet. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can see a bit of the wear and tear on the room, but it is still very comfortable. We also like the GVC because of the lounge that you can use on arrival and departure day - they have nice showers and areas to sit and relax. Very nice if you're planning to use the resort or beach activities on the day of departure! The resort itself has a fantastic family vibe. it's busy and active and lots going on. The pools are great for kids and all the restaurants have kids menus and make it easy with kids. The resort is beautiful and has everything you need. It's easy to spend days there at the pool and beach! The lagoon is nice too, as it doesn't have the waves. There are fish in the lagoon as well! There are fish, turtles, birds throughout the resort as well. They also have cultural activities - we made bracelets from Kukui nuts one afternoon. Also if you are a Hilton Honours member, there are some perks. We're silver status only, but still got 2 free bottles of water and a photo at the Aloha sign. There's also an HGV discount card available. We particularly liked the Fresco Italian Restaurant and the Aoki Teppanyaki! There's shopping and ABC stores on site for your needs and souvenirs. Just really happy with our choice - second time visiting here. I would choose this if you're looking for a quite couples location. But if you want a great family location right on the beach, we'd recommend it. We also went to the Friday night Starlight Luau on the lawn and loved it - the food was good the dancing was fantastic and it ended in time for the fireworks. Just loved the atmosphere on the lawn and if you can, get the upgraded seats at the front - just adds to the experience.
An Good Stay

We basically flew to Honolulu to get a nonstop flight home to Chicago after visiting Maui and the Big Island. Our view was nothing: the building across the way. Some of the staff were helpful, some were not. Despite being Diamond members and HGV owners, you had to beg for bottled water at the front desk. Excellent location was a big plus, especially if you're a beachgoer.
