Every year I come to Las Vegas for a conference hosted by my employer the week after Thanksgiving. This year I made the mistake of booking the Paris, but my week was saved by spending the weekend with my bride at the Vdara. As a Marriott elite member check-in was a breeze and we were given room 3634 (we booked on points). The room was spacious, with a small kitchen, a sitting area, a comfortable bed and lavish bathroom. Every thing was top notch and clean, and there was a lovely view out of our wide windows. The only negative was that there was a Keurig coffee maker but no coffee or cups. On the positive the minibar fridge and snack tray were also empty, and since I never use them there was no chance I would accidentally bump an item and get charged for it. While the Vdara isn't as convenient for my conference as the Paris, my hope is to book my entire stay there next time as it is now my favorite hotel in Vegas.
Yawned in my face, rude & unhelpful Reception Staff (but hotel is lovely).

Stayed at The Vdara Hotel for 7 nights and found the hotel and the room lovely. There is no casino here so it’s nice to escape back too. That is unless hammering and other construction sounding noises don’t start in an adjacent room at 0500 in the morning - couldn’t work out if the room was above or to the side. We thought someone was trying to get in our room at first. At about 0900, went to reception (having tried to ring down with no answer) and did the usual British thing of apologising about having to bother them and asked if there was work going on as it had woken us up at 0500. Spoke to Sahar/Suhar who, having tried to stifle a huge yawn as I spoke to her, got me to repeat myself several times before saying she’d get security to check it out. No apology, just complete disinterest and obvious boredom. Perhaps it was not exciting enough for her. Anyway came back 4 hours later and asked her colleague, pointing Sahar/Suhar out, if anything has been found out. Same lack of interest. Apparently after 4 hours Security hadn’t come back to her. Still no apology but at least she didn’t yawn this time.?So I spoke to Security who said they weren’t aware. Obviously a break down in communication. But then this is the same security that seem to be more concerned in whether guests waiting for a taxi on departure day, having spent thousands on a room for a week, are spending too much time sat in the lobby. I’ll admit the sloppy can’t be bothered attitude of the staff in the main lobby is a sad reflection on a nice hotel. However plus point on staff - they guys who look after your bags on check out day are friendly & jolly. If you don’t mind being yawned and and a complete lack of interest in you then this is the hotel for you. Thank goodness for digital check in and out.
