I'm going to give you my honest review of Iberostar Grand. I first went to Jamaica Iberostar Grand in Dec 2016 and I could not believe how amazing everything was. The people the food, the hotel etc, so of cos I could not wait to book my return holiday back. I was surprised how much it had changed and not for the better(again this is my opinion). We arrived on May 22nd and the airport was not organized at all. You have to line up to show proof that you filled out the C5 Form to enter Jamaica however ppl were cutting the line and no one was instructing others to move to the back of the line. People where getting frustrated and yelling at others that arrived to move to the back of the line. We cleared customs within the hour. Our bus was there when we finally came out of the airport and we waited for about 30 mins waiting for 2 more couples but at least there were $5 beer they were serving on the bus while we wait. Do not buy at the bar at the airport unless you want to spend $10US .We were the first drop off and from what I can remember this time we were not greeted when we got off the bus but really that was not a make or break for me. We went to check in and were greeted with a smile and a welcome back. She mentioned that since I did not book an oceanview room we are not getting a butler which was fine because we did not use ours the last time we were in Jamaica. We had to wait for check which was at 3. We went to eat at the buffet by the water. The food was not what I remembered not a huge selection but they had the typical pasta they would cook in front of u and bbq chicken, beef, and fish. While we were waiting for our room we decided to go ahead and book an a la carte for the evening but were told we no longer have to book for the restaurants it's first come first serve. So if you get in great and if not you can eat at the buffet. We were told the last reservation was at 9pm any time after that we would not be seated. RESTAURANTS: Italian: We ended up twice there. The food was amazing and flavorful. My pasta was not over cooked and so much flavor. My husband had something beef and his steak was perfectly cooked. Our waiter was amazing. He would make sure our glass was never emptied asking us if we needed anything. Steakhouse: We again went twice. My husband loves steak. We had the platter for 2 to start with. (Shrimp, Crab, Oysters) 3 types of sauce. I tired the ribs and Joel had steak which was fall off the bone. It was like butter. There was nothing to complain about at this restaurant. Japanese: It was ok. Pretty typical. They had a few different selection and the cook was friendly and he offered extra meat to everyone. The sever not so friendly. When I asked her what was for dessert she listed what there was but she spoke so softly I could not hear her. (There was a 50th bday party going on and it was a little loud in there). She actually rolled her eyes at us and repeated herself. Needless to say she did not get a tip from me. Italian(Suites): We did venture to the Suites side to try the Mediterranean but unfortunately they were closed the day and the two hostess that were there convinced us to stay and try the Italian on there side. What a difference the staff was on that side. Our server was so upbeat and friendly. He would stop and talk to us. All the servers were chatty with us. The starter pizza was wood oven so delicious. My pasta again was cooked properly. Not over cooked. Buffet: Opened every night but when we went it was the same every day. The one thing I can say about the buffet when we went closing time they packed up so fast that there was no dessert. But I did ask one of the ladies if they had any creme Brule left in the back that they can part with and she made it happened. She told me to sit down and she will come find me and she came through. Our rooms were clean and spacious. Even though I did not book the Oceanview room we still got a partial oceanview and pool view. Which was fine by us cause we really don't spend much time in our room. We had no problem with our cleaning lady she did a great job ensuring it was cleaned every day. We never felt the need to use our safe. We left our jewelry and money out and we never had a problem. It was in the exact same spot we left it. But our Fridge and snacks were not filled most days. We had to ask everyday if someone was coming to fill up our fridge. Room Service: Was slow but I'm sure they had crazy Orders to fulfill. If there is anything you order, order the wings. They were DELICIOUS and spicy. The grounds were beautiful. The workers do what they can to keep the grounds beautiful and they were working in the heat. If you see Bubbles she is amazing. We met her back in 2016 and she is still the I love my job upbeat person that we remembered. This is where I noticed the change. We went to the bar and we went to order our drinks. They advertised corona and higher end tequila and whisky/rum and vodka. They said that those are not included in the all inclusive price and if we wanted that one we had to pay. I was a little shocked because I already paid $2,600 per person to book at that resort. I said that's fine I'll order whatever. They played live music every night in the front (DJ music) which they did not have when I went in 2016. The bar closes every night at 1am so you had to go to the club at night if you wanted to drink more. My husband met a couple that has been to the resort 5 times, 4 times before COVID and this was his first trip back after COVID and he mentioned that if you are at the club and ask for the same drink you are drinking at the bar some of the alcohol was not included and you had to pay. Disappointing to hear. Not all the shows were free. Some of the show cost $45US per person to see. The timeshare ppl are just relentless. They called you everyday trying to get you to come to the presentation. We just unplugged our phones at one point. Some of the staff members on the Grand side seemed like they did not want to be there but we visited the Suites and Beaches side and these guys were so upbeat and chatty and ensuring you had a great time. I don't want to say this resort was awful because it wasn't. It just was not what I remembered. My husband thinks it's different management compared to the other two Iberostar. I probably will not return to this resort but Jamaica is not off my list of places to visit.
