Great access to Disney, and Downtown Disney

Tim A on Apr 27, 2024

The hotel was clean, and not a bad breakfast buffet included. About 14 minute walk to Disneyland. Good restaurants nearby. The accommodations were fine, but the tv had no streaming, and could only change Chanel’s one at a time. No menu.

Too far

Nope never again! Long walk for us, shady corner of the road too. Breakfast awful no peanut butter one morning, bite size muffins no variety. The rooms ac is set to 69°f or 20°c on a motion sensor room way too warm for me had to ask for a fan. Shutters on the windows, need blackout curtains. Outdated, beds very squishy. Staff unwelcoming. Room very tight on space. I'll pay a bit more and stay across the street from the park. My alarm clock is an hour fast I gave up figuring it out. I was hopeful for the free breakfast but even my non picky eater wouldn't eat anything.

Stay somewhere else.

Horrible experience. I have stayed at this hotel twice now in the last year. Both visits have been for the purpose of visiting Disneyland. Great walking distance to the hotel but the there are better hotels that are close by, that would be a better choice. First the air conditioning units are preset to go no lower than 20C. Personally I like it cold so I was hot when trying to sleep. Bed linens were clean. The beds were old. My bed leaned to the right so I kept rolling into my husband in the middle of the night. Weird blankets though. All you get is a blanket in between two sheets. No quilt? Towels were very old and very small. They were very well used. Super rough and could not wrap around your body once and hold. They lost their absorbentcy a long time ago, but still being used. Not to mention they were filthy, see picture below. Next, my shower drain was so clogged that by the time I was finished a quick shower the water was already up to my ankles. Told the hotel on two seperate occasions about this issue and it was never fixed during my stay. Next, the hotel only offers cleaning services once every 4 days of your stay. Besides the daily towel drop off and garbage pick up. I’m not a messy person but when you pay the amount they charge to stay in their hotel 200+ a night. It would be nice for the beds to be made. Considering their distance from Disney I would doubt this hotel have very little vacancies and they could afford to upgrade a few things. Finally, the noise. To be fair the gore has no control over the volume of guests coming and going. So I will give the hotel credit that they did respond to 2 out of 3 of my complaints effectively. 2 of those complains were about the guests above me. They very clearly had a small child that was not ready for bed and was running back and forth across their hotel room. On a normal day I would not bother me but it was 11:30 at night and I had to wake up for 5 for an early flight. So first call to the desk they said they would call and speak with the guest. 20 minutes go by the noise continues and I call again. I get a different front desk worker and I explain to them what is happening and explain I called previously and the noise has continued. He puts me on hold for a while and I get connected with the girl I spoke with previously. She was apologetic and she said they would call again and then send up someone to the room as well. After that the noise stopped and I was able to sleep. My real complaint is with my first complaint. Again it was around 11:30-12 at night and I heard outside of my room drilling and ladders being open and closed and a hand radio blasting someone speaking. I call the front desk and ask why there is maintenance going on at almost 12 o’clock at night. He tells me there is not. And I was like oh really then why am I hearing drilling and ladder opening and closing and people talking outside my room. He puts me on hold and I can hear him talking to the maintenance workers about what I am hearing and they tell him they were fixing an air conditioning unit in someone’s room. The front desk repeated the same thing to me Now I questioned by they were doing maintenance this late when the hotel has quiet hours between 10pm and 6am. They stated someone complained about their air conditioning unit not working. Now I have stayed in hotels where my unit has been broken and they send someone the next morning to fix it. Not at midnight. The question I have is how were they fixing someone’s unit in the hallway. Where I saw them working? Air conditioning units are in rooms last time I checked not in the middle of the hallway. Next why would you need a ladder when individual air conditioning units are under the windows on the floor in peoples rooms. Again not in the hallway. So either the desk was lying to me or the maintenance crew was lying to the desk. Not to mention that had been the second night ina row I heard drilling but the first time did not require a complaint as it lasted only a few moments. If the hotel is doing maintenance I suggest doing it at a REASONABLE HOUR. Considering the majority of your guests are there for the purpose of going to the park which open at around 8am. Around 12am most of your guests are trying to sleep so they get up for opening. Or have just gotten in from the park closing and are trying to have some down time before going to sleep for the night. I was one of those go for park opening kind of people so I was asleep. Overall, not the best stay some of it was out of the control of the hotel itself but many of them are within their control to fix. My recommendation would be to try one of the other hotels. There are so many within walking distance of the park.

Great Stay!!

Camille S on Apr 11, 2024

We have stayed at many hotels in the area, this was are 1rst at Desert Palms and it was great. The beds were very comfortable, shower pressure was great and our towels were restocked and garbages emptied everyday. On the 3rd day they made our beds and did a more in depth cleaning so that was nice. The breakfast had something for everyone and we had no complaints about it. The pool was heated and the kids could swim even though it wasn’t that warm outside. It was very close to walk to Disney. We traveled with a party of 9 ranging from age 9-83, and everyone was able to easily walk to the park. My only complaint was the noise from outside the windows and in the hallway could be a little loud at times, seems like the doors and windows were a little old and didn’t block the sound. I would choose this hotel over many others in the area. I would best compare it to our stay at the residence inn across the street and would prefer it over the Grand legacy, Clarion and Del Sol which we have all stayed at.
