Happy Happy at the Doubletree

MarkCBurbank (Glendale, California) on Sep 01, 2024

I love this hotel when I visit Orlando. They always let me check in early. They go out of their way to make sure my stay is excellent. 3 shuttles a day to the park makes this a great choice if you love visiting the park as much as I do. I will be back again. Thank you

It sucked!

Karla L on Aug 31, 2024

When we first got to the hotel there was a long line to check in and only two people at the front desk. From the time we got there to the time we got checked in, an hour had already passed. There wasn’t an option to do early check in not an app to avoid this chaos. Our plan was to spend the night as close as we could from City Walk- only reason why we chose this hotel. This is not even close. They advertised a shuttle service to universal- guess what? No shuttle at night. By the time we checked in we had lost all interest to go out due to the exhausting wait. We go to our room and the toilet kept in running so loud and simply annoying. The AC was blowing directly into your face so while it was nice that it was actually working, it was uncomfortable. The bed sucked. My back hurts. And to top it off this morning the water was not even hot. The head of the shower wasn’t even adjustable. This was not what I expected. I got say that I fave it a 1 only for the cookies and Linda Carter at the front desk, who was really pleasant. Otherwise there would be a minus 2 rating if it were possible. I will never stay here again.

About as mid as you can get

Matthew M (Roebling, New Jersey) on Aug 31, 2024

I will start off by saying that the location is good, the front lobby was gorgeous, and the pool area was one of the better ones I've ever experienced. The beds were also very comfortable as well. The room itself was good however we did find several long black hairs in the bathroom. That sort of thing doesnt bother me however I'm also not going to act like like it didnt happen. There are two main reasons I'm giving this hotel a 3/5. 1. The elevators - probably the worst Ive ever experienced at a hotel. There was always a wait (going both up and down) and a line going up. They were also cramped, like you could fit maybe 6 full sized adults in them. Whoever designed the building greatly underestimated the elevator to room ratio. To make matters worse, one of the bays was down for most of our stay. Seriously, Ive seen better elevator set ups on cruise ships. 2. $31 per day to park. Why? I didnt see this posted anywhere on my booking or the site before I made the reservation. Maybe its my fault for not doing due diligence but I'm just not used to having to pay to park at hotels, let alone $31 per night. I get that its close to Universal, I get that there's a (complimentary) shuttle but if I would have known that my 4 night stay was going to cost me an extra $124 I would have stayed somewhere else. When I pulled up and saw the sign for $31 to park I actually asked my wife if we should look at other places but it was 11pm and I'm sure it was too late to cancel at that point. It would have been much cheaper to find another hotel and pay to park at Universal for the amount of time that we were going there. Its like I went into this stay thinking I was getting a good deal and left thinking "I guess I got my money's worth?" Meh

Good Option for Staying Close to Universal Orlando

dixie2001 (Sugar Land, Texas) on Aug 23, 2024

This hotel served our family well for our 3-night stay to visit the Universal Orlando parks. The lobby was bright, large, & welcoming. The staff were friendly & helpful. Room (1 King Bed & 2 Queen Beds – connecting rooms) – 4/5 *The rooms were clean & spacious. We were initially upgraded to the penthouse suite. Upon arrival, we were told the suite wasn’t available due to maintenance issues. We did end up with a parlor space between our 2 connecting rooms which was nice & useful for our family. *The beds were comfortable & not too soft like many hotel beds. The A/C worked well & cooled the room nicely throughout the night. Location – 4/5 * The location of this hotel was good for visiting Universal Orlando without staying on the property. The walk to the park is a little over a mile including crossing an elevated pedestrian bridge over a busy intersection. We definitely thought it was easier to walk to the parks than drive & park. *There were a couple restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. We enjoyed our meal at Miller’s Ale House. There is a Walgreens on the same block as well. Service – 4/5 *The staff were all kind & welcoming. They were always happy to help with any issues & answer any questions. They also provided extra cookies upon request by our children. *Being Hilton Diamond members, we receive a daily food & beverage credit. We used this credit to purchase drinks & snacks from one of the onsite restaurants. We charged all the items to one of our two connecting rooms. However, the credit was not applied to our bill at all. We had to call the hotel after our stay to get the food & beverage credit applied to our bill. We’ve had this problem at multiple Hilton properties when we’ve booked connecting rooms. Tips *I don’t recommend paying more for the park view rooms. Some of them are on the side of the building & don’t provide a direct view of the park. The hotel is over a mile from the park, so the view is a distant view anyway. *The food & beverage credit can only be used at the onsite restaurants, not at the onsite convenience store. It was odd & frustrating since the convenience store had beverages we preferred over the options at the restaurants.

Great experience!

I had a fantastic time staying at this hotel on a short trip for work. The pool was extremely nice and the hot tub is large. Malik at the front desk was extremely friendly and got my trip started out on an extremely positive result. Will definitely return when I’m in the area next. Price was average for the area, but the amenities here make it a better choice in my opinion.
