Run down and disappointing

Jamie S on Apr 21, 2024

It looks nice from pictures but up close it has issues. I would not stay here again. We stayed in the camelback tower in a deluxe suite. For a hotel with a water park you think there would be a towel rack in the room-nope, not one. The bathroom was tiny (door barely opened without hitting the toilet) and not a single place to hang a towel or wet swimsuit. Bathroom is too small to even change in. In the interior hallway area the white stucco was really dirty. That entire structure is in bad need of a power wash. It felt like a 1970’s apartment building that had never been cleaned. All the plants in the pictures are actually plastic plants too. The lobby area had zero normal quick grab snacks or breakfast items. Just a giant line for Starbucks coffee and some weird generic brand peach yogurt. The gym looked nice but both pelotons were broken, they have zero fitness classes, and the free weight area equipment was really outdated. Lastly, it’s in a horrible neighborhood. Do not expect to walk anywhere (only abandoned buildings nearby) and it’s a 30 minute drive to any decent restaurants. Water park was fun but no decent food and dippin dots were $11. Not a single thing there I would want to eat. Also the towels were tiny and frayed at the ends. Would not recommend.

Good Couple Days

This is a fine resort that checked the boxes we were looking for. The staff was all great and lines for service were reasonable. Overall, the rooms are starting to look a little tired and the resort is probably due for a makeover. That said, it met our needs and there was more than enough pool chairs to go around!

I Can't Recommend

Holly D (Chicago, Illinois) on Apr 08, 2024

I wanted to love this place, but just couldn't. It needs a user experience audit. It's just frayed around the edges--metaphorically with service and literally with facilities. I am comparing this with other resorts we've been to, like the Broadmoor. The good: - The lobby restaurant and outdoor seating area are wonderful places to sit and enjoy the view, and we had no service issues at the restaurant while we were there. Shoutout to server Matthew who was amazing handling the entire patio by himself one night. - The Oasis waterpark was fantastic. Cheap towels, but the overall experience was super fun for our family. - I expect to be gouged on food when I'm at a resort, so that was fine. The bad: - The Marketplace Cafe needs more staffing. Only 2 people working behind the counter every morning with no hustle, meaning long lines and wait times for guests. - The Camelback Suites are a study in neglect. Tiles missing from around the pool that have been patchwork replaced with a different color or missing altogether. My son actually cut his hand to bleeding on a broken tile in one of the hot tubs. The front entrance elevator is nice, but the stairs and elevator most guests use are cracked, worn down, tired and gloomy. You actually dread your room as you are first entering the facility. Not a great intro to a resort. - Our room had stained furniture and mildew in the shower that could have been cleaned with a quick bleaching. Otherwise it was...fine. - The connecting doors between suites are paper thin. The neighbors kept my son up at night with the TV and woke him up in the morning yelling at their kids. - The walkway/golf cart path behind the lobby bar is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Multiple times while we were sitting there we watched golf carts almost run into little kids who were playing between the grass and the path. There is zero fencing and zero signs that what looks like a walkway is actually a golf cart path. Management: when you renovate, you should create a path from the golf cart pickup directly onto the putting green. - There is no good pathway from the lobby facilities to the center of the Camelback Suites. You have to cross a parking lot and go through said gloomy staircases to get back to most of the rooms. It's just one of those ways in which you can tell they haven't paid attention to the whole experience the way Disney Resorts or places like Broadmoor or the Greenbriar have. - The Aunt Chilada's restaurant is basically in the middle of an empty parking lot. I expect this will change with renovations. - This is a small thing, but on the website there are instagram pics of people at the waterpark, which I understand are sponsored, and that's fine. The problem is, in at least two of them, they are eating beautiful plates of beautiful fruit, which exist nowhere in this resort. It's just unethical, and feels icky. Bottom line, if I were you, I wouldn't stay here until they finish the renovations they applied for last year. Maybe some of this stuff will be fixed. Fair warning, it doesn't seem like the families are a priority as much as the conference guests, so I wouldn't expect the Camelback Suite issues to change much. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Great Family Getaway

Michelle E on Apr 07, 2024

The lobby of this resort is beautiful and it took all of five minutes to be handed our keys and a map to the grounds. We had no trouble finding parking near our room in the Sedona building every day we stayed. Our room over looked both pools which was nice for the kids to look out at. Our room was clean and perfect for our needs as a family, although bathroom was a bit tight when trying to help little ones shower. We loved walking the grounds in the morning and my children loved sitting by the fires along the walkways. We spent time at the water park which was steps away from our room. Water was cool so my children wanted to spend a lot of time in the hot tub which was always loaded with people. We went for the breakfast buffet one morning which had a good variety of breakfast food.
