Great Stay at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale

Stay716042 on Apr 26, 2024

We had a wonderful experience during our stay in Scottsdale at the Hyatt. Despite major renovations taking place, the facilities were extremely clean, there was minimal noise, and the amenities were spectacular. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Scottsdale.

Great resort but won't return until renovations are complete

Overall it was a pleasant stay, however there were some unpleasant things worthy of consideration if you are thinking about this hotel. The construction at the resort is much more disruptive than was indicated in any pre-arrival communications. First, navigating the hallways to get to your room is a challenge. The front desk was very kind and appeared to be trying hard to be helpful, but the signage was not very clear. As a result we spent nearly 20 minutes with our suitcases trying to navigate to our wing of the hotel with only one working elevator and many blocked off corridors. I was offered to have help with luggage but declined. Had I known how difficult it would be I would have accepted. If they offer this to you, take them up on it. The only reason we found our room was because we ran into a random employee in the hallway. Once we found our room it was easy to get to and from the lobby because we had our bearings, not because the signage was helpful, or existent. However, on a couple of occasions the elevator closest to our room was only working part of the time which made navigation challenging. On our last day the elevators closest to our room were shut down because they started work in the adjacent atrium, but to their credit they did put out signs that made it clear where to go. The construction noise is louder and more disruptive than I expected. They started at 8:30 am and even worked through the weekend. The loudest noises like banging and drilling subsided over the weekend, but if you are there M-F expect a lot of noise. It carries over to the pool area as well. As a Hyatt Globalist I was disappointed to not be placed in the quieter, renovated part of the hotel. One of my benefits as a Globalist is complimentary breakfast in the restaurant, however we only ate there one day because the noise from the construction was too disruptive. We couldn’t even have a conversation because the noise level was so loud. On the plus side, everyone we encountered on property was wonderful. From the front desk to the pool staff, every encounter we had was a pleasant one. The pool area is very nice, and the food at the restaurants and bar was excellent. We especially enjoyed the live music at the Centerstage Bar (adjacent to Cantina Due) every night. When the renovations are complete this place will once again be wonderful. For now, it is a bit of a loud mess. I will likely hold off on returning until they are complete.

Best of the Best Hyatt property

jmpyzyk (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) on Apr 24, 2024

Outstanding property for both business and personal travelers. We stay at this particular property every year and in 2024 the property went under major updates making it even more beautiful than before. Unfortunately, their golf rate for 9 holes increased to $200 per person, which we found to be too high especially since we are loyal Hyatt members. If you want just as beautiful golf courses, I recommended driving to the Biltmore Hotel & Golf course where the rates were only $55.00 per person for 9 holes.

Sigh, it hurts that I have to leave this type of review because the reason we came back to this property several times is due to the great past experiences. This stay left a LOT to be desired. Understandably, hotels go through renovations. This renovation was due to be done by now. Also, it is understandable that projects run behind. What is NOT understandable is why, upon check-in, we were put in a room facing the front of the hotel where part of the construction traffic was visibly and audibly taking place. We asked for a room just across the hall, which would have had a better view and a little less noise. We were given a room in the section that the elevators were not working and where the construction and highly visible construction dust were. The dust literally had us choked up and sneezing horribly. Why put guests in that section of the resort when it wasn't even busy with guests???? We went back to the front desk to ask for another room. We were given a room two doors down and in the same dusty section! Unbelievable!! And unacceptable. Once again, we went to the front desk to specifically request a room in the renovated section facing the back lawn/pool (no construction sites). Why did we have to go through all of that!? That run around surely soured our experience. However, Hily (I believe was her name) at the pool during the week was very pleasant. The Ahi Tacos she recommended were great. The pool areas were nicely maintained.
