Great hotel, excellent value for money

From check in to check out we had a wonderful time. The staff make this hotel, from management, reception, ground staff, cleaners, restaurant and bar staff animation team and all the ones who work behind the scenes. We found everyone pleasant, hard working, helpful, smart and very well trained. Credit to management who were highly visible throughout our stay, constantly checking we were o.k and happy. Even had a call from guest relations to check we were o.k because we'd bought medicine in the mini market, it was only indigestion tablets but we appreciated the concern. Food better than an average all inclusive, and the al la carte restaurants were very great. Whole hotel was spotless. Plenty of sunbeds and, more importantly for me, plenty of shade. Would go again, for the price we paid with Tui, it was a lot cheaper than European holidays at the moment.
Excellent best holiday ever ???????

Just got back from the best 11 days holiday Well where do I start First the welcome to the hotel was great handed cold towels a welcome drink , cases taken to your room, Rooms are massive need a bit of updating but very clean ,room service everyday beds and towels changed daily, The gardens are kept beautiful, staff work to hard to keep them so gorgeous, Beach looks beautiful just a shame you don’t get the full experience of the blue sea as it’s river feed , lots of jellyfish, But don’t be put off go on the trip to Sonia island was the best day ever , there is the true experience of the Caribbean Sea, Staff at the hotel can’t do enough for you , Constantly filling your glass when empty always asking if your ok and was everything good , I normally get b bored with all inclusive food but the variety at this hotel was great and having the experience of going to the à la cart restaurants was a good thing to the Asian was amazing. The food was really presented very well and tasted amazing. There is only one downside to this hotel and that is the mosquitoes, but they do blast them every night with smoke to try to minimise your bites, The staff at the pool bar Pedro and Marina were absolutely fantastic. They work so hard and their cocktails are amazing. They are constantly coming round to you while you’re lying at the poolside asking if you want more drinks so you don’t even have to get up off your sunbed to get your cocktails. This is one of my best holidays I’ve ever had. Would definitely give this a good five star rating even though the hotel rooms are a little tired and not a five star but overall with the hotel was fantastic.
Relaxing Experienced

The resort provided a truly relaxing experience over the past couple of days. Upon arrival at the first hotel, there was a delay in being attended to by the desk staff, despite no other guests checking in at the time. As the three guys at the desk were just talking amongst themselves as I was waiting to be acknowledged. However, I was then warmly escorted to the Bougainville by a friendly bellhop. The receptionist at the Bougainville was also pleasant and welcoming. Although the room was great, there were some essential shower amenities missing such as bath rag for people who needed them and body was/shower gel and shampoo. But fortunately, my friend had brought her bath gel. The food options were excellent, especially for my vegan friend, who appreciated the helpfulness of the chefs and restaurant staff in catering to her dietary requirements. The restaurant staff, particularly Ceaser and Juan, provided exceptional care, ensuring that we were well looked after throughout our stay. It's also worth mentioning that the bellhop, Argenis de Aza, was a very nice and pleasant individual. I want to express my gratitude for making this trip a truly memorable experience.
Beautiful Well Kept Resort

Hotel is joined with Bahia Principe Grand La Romana, with this one (Bouganville) being the adult only part. You can use facilities at both with a very short walk (couple of minutes). On arrival the hotel and grounds are beautiful and well kept and the check-in process is smooth, friendly and efficient. *Location* The resort is rather far from anywhere so it is unlikely you would want to leave on foot. Uber is available, but are not allowed on the resort so you would need to walk approx 30 minutes to meet your driver. The hotel will organise a taxi, but these are more 'taxi tours' and cost upwards of 60 USD. *Rooms* Rooms are designed to a high standard and are nice and large. The beds are huge! Rooms should be cleaned daily. A couple of days were missed for us, but was easily sorted by a chat with reception. I believe that room service is available 24/7 and is part of the all-inclusive, but we did not try it. *Swimming Pools* There are two main pools, both kept immaculate and with swim up bars. One pool is the 'lively pool' with entertainment and music, the other is quieter. We never struggled to get a poolside bed or parasol. Personally, preferred the quieter pool. The bar staff there, Pedro and Mariene deserve a special mention - very friendly and happy to chat, nothing was too much trouble. One minor issue is that the beer kegs are apparently kept in the sunlight and are occasionally off (you can tell this when the beer is cloudy and tastes awful), but the staff were able to replace the offending kegs relatively quickly. *Breakfast* Breakfast is buffet style with a good selection. There is also a fresh cooking station for omelettes. We enjoyed the variety and quality of the food. *Lunch and Snacks* There is a buffet available, as well as the a-la-carte poolside snack bar. Really enjoyed the food at the snack bar. Be aware that you should be dry and covered up for any of the snack bards or restaurants. It would have been ideal if snacks (chips / hot dogs, etc) were available at the poolside. *Evening Meal - Buffet* Again a wide selection with evenings having a theme (Asian and American were two of them). The food available is not restricted to the theme, there are other options as well. Quality of the food was good. The buffet also has a fresh cooking station. *Evening Meal - A-La-Carte* Being in the off season, not all restaurants were open every night and they were operating at reduced capacity. This can make it very hard to book your meal - it appears that they don't let you book too far in advance as they don't know what will be open, but if you leave it too long then it's booked out. I think this was probably the only issue we had with this hotel. We were able to try the Rodizio / Brazilian, but were disappointed with the selection, quality and service. The Mediterranean restaurant was quite good. My favourite was the French with a great selection of quality food. We heard from others that the Asian restaurant is really good but were unable to get a reservation. *Evenings* The main venue for evenings is the lobby bar which closes at 00:00. It has a large selection of drinks available and friendly staff (Natalie deserves a special mention for her friendliness and attentiveness). There is entertainment but it felt a bit forced for the number of people there. On the Saturday night there was a beach party with fire dancers which was entertaining and very impressive. I tried the night club (open to 03:00 I think) which was OK, but again a little quiet at this time of year. *General Tips* I've included a few things we found that are not necessarily related to the hotel. Currency: USD seems to be the preference for tips, cash and also card payments. La Romana town itself was not really worth a visit. Bayahibe which is a 30-40 min car ride away is beautiful. Santo Domingo was a very enjoyable day trip. I believe there is a GP on resort, but we did not make use of them. The mosquitoes in Dominican Republic are evil little blighters and seem to be out all day and night.
