Spotless Hotel but food not up to standard
June H on May 30, 2026
Could not fault this hotel on the cleanliness the room cleaners do a fantastic job and definitely deserve a 5 star rating. However the thing letting this hotel down is the food. Quite a good selection but luke warm and no hot plates to put your food on. Consequently by the time you sat down your food was stone cold. We tried to warm food 3 times in the microwave that was there but unfortunately that wasn't working. We,found the food at the family hotel next door was much better. Another downside is trying to get into the al a carte restaurants. We had to cancel one due to illness and wasn't able to rebook. We would not return to this hotel due to the food situation.
11 fantastic days in an immaculate complex with superb service

An amazing eleven days in this stunning resort. From the moment we arrived, till the moment we left, the level of service was first class. Grounds were impeccably maintained, rooms were spotlessly clean and had everything you needed. Had a couple of minor issues, we reported them on the app and within 15 minutes someone arrived at our room to sort them. Buffet restaurants had a good selection of food that was well cooked. The a la carte restaurants were very good. Managed to check in, set our room preferences and book our restaurants before we arrived on the App. Wilson the manager, the guest services team and all the staff were a credit to Bahia Brincipe. This was the final Bahia Pfincipe complex we had left to visit. Just hope things don't change now Hyatt have taken over.

Two women, May 16-23 2026 in the Adult Only section. if you want a resort where you feel welcomed and safe this is the place for you . if you want relaxation and a place to clear your mind we found it here Our room was stunning and immaculately clean. Wonderful entertainment pool side every afternoon. I wish the Japanese restaurant was located in my neighbourhood, excellent. Maria our server in buffet dining, smiling just thinking of her, made everyone feel welcome as if a special guest dining in her home . we were very content with buffet presentation and selection Grounds are lovely and the gardeners very professional and friendly Shout out to everyone in the Main Lobby . welcomed warmly on arrival and answering all our questions as the week went by . All staff we encountered deserve a shout out Yes the water has jellyfish (2 out of 7 days we were there) . the other days spent floating in the water and enjoying . a walk out on the pier was breathtaking . lovely relaxing beach front . Sorry in advance for the length! We read so many reviews before deciding where to stay in the DR and had exactly the vacation we were hoping for. Our criteria going in - nice pools, friendly staff, good food and relaxation without loud kids running around. We got exactly that!! No the beach is not great, but we are pool people and knew this when we booked. It seems crazy to see how many won't return because of the beach, so unless they received this trip free (I didn't), really do some research next time. It can save those negative reviews. We didn't experience all the resort can offer as we wanted a quiet vacation, but this was our experience: The great: - Staff, staff, staff!! - Honestly we've been to a few places in the Caribbean, but EVERYONE here is the friendliest people we;ve encountered, from bartenders to servers to grounds crew, shuttle drivers, front desk (shoutout to Marianne SP? at the quiet pool bar. First place I've been where I've been given a hug on the last day. - A la carte restaurants - AMAZING service and food but DO book them 10 days in advance otherwise it's impossible to get a reservation after you arrive - Room Service - Limited menu, but SO convenient and yummy - Online Check in - DO THIS before arriving. Took us 10 minutes once we got there to have someone take us to our room - Tipping culture - This is a thing but DR is not a wealthy country and staff rely on this to support their families. This is under the great as this was never expected here, service was the same wherever we went regardless of tipping and it was ALWAYS appreciated. There are no tip jars visible, hands being held out in expectation or nothing. Once we had to stop the concierge after he dropped off our bags as he was going to leave in order to tip him; just really kind, grateful people here! The good: - Rooms - This includes everything, from the air conditioning which could be spotty but our clothes still dried so not awful, to the spotty hot water, but it's the Caribbean and I got used to coolish showers as they were refreshing! Housekeeping was amazing and always had clean towels; fridge was always stocked. The rooms might be a little dated and the tv channels limited, but I brought books and can watch tv at home :) There is a tv outside of the Asian restaurant that they shows soccer matches or NHL playoff games - Buffet food - There was always a variety to select, but by the end of the week, it seemed a little repetitive and quality was a little lacking; you could always get fresh pasta or omelets for breakfast as hotter options - Massage - Very professional and relaxing couples massage, but pretty over-price imo, even for a resort massage. The not so great (some of which the resort is not at fault); - Stairs and No Elevator - I have minor mobility issues and can do stairs but slowly. We were on the 2nd floor and I didn't have issue. The stairwells are located well and have railings, however some of the railings were less secure, so something to check maybe - Beds - they are hard as everyone mentions. Still slept well and used one of the pillows under my knees for some back support. - Distance from Punta Cana airport - Over an hour shuttle drive. After a 4 hour flight, where most are longer, we found this travel time long. Nice drive though. - Reserving beach chairs - Personally I'm up early and would put out towels / hats like others did before breakfast, but after breakfast, there were still plenty open ones. That being said, we were in low season (early May) so not as busy and definitely less busy during the week than on the weekend we got there - Beach and oceanview rooms - We sat out on the beach in the evening to watch the sunset, but yes I wouldn't want to swim in it and our oceanview room was totally blocked by trees, so although I liked our room location (50101), it was not much of an oceanview that we paid for. I can't comment on the day / night entertainment much as we spent most of our time in the quiet pool, but our room overlooked the Brazilian Ala Carte and Snack restaurant as well as the activity pool. Everyone looked to be having fun and the energy we saw from the entertainment staff was incredible. Just too loud for us to read a book by that pool :) The nightly entertainment was also loud and we could hear it until around 10 pm as our room was right behind the entertainment area. For the most part, it was not so loud in the room itself with the air conditioner blocking out some. We had a great vacation and hoping that anyone visiting takes the time to educate themselves so there are no "surprises" which we didn't have when we got there. Thank you Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville!!

A word of warning for travelers seeking a beach experience: this location is not ideal for the beach. A river empties out here; the beach itself is man-made, featuring dark sand and a seabed full of rocks. The water is murky and infested with jellyfish. The hotel is old and outdated, and is in need of maintenance; the air conditioning barely cools the room, and the bathrooms sometimes lack hot water or sufficient water pressure in the showers.
