Beautiful Resort

The resort grounds are beautifully maintained. I consider it a quaint resort but very lovely. The rooms were very clean and spacious. People complain about the ocean but I found it to be gorgeous blue when looking out from shore. Yes, the water is slightly murky in it but it's because it's situated in a bay. I swim every afternoon and it was excellent as no huge waves to dodge. The food was pretty good with plenty of choice. The red wine was actually drinkable compared to many Caribbean all inclusive. The customer service was excellent. They had activities every day at the pool and the few night shows we caught were decent. I spent every day on the beach and was not bothered by the wasps people complain about. Tons of shade available. Very excellent trip.

Spent 2 weeks here beginning of May. 1st impressions are this is paradise..the lobby , the main lounge bar are absolutely beautiful and create a good impression on 1st entering the hotel...we had a welcome drink and a cold wet towel which was more than welcome after a 1hr 30min journey from the airport..we were taken to our room and marvelled at the surroundings which are second to none we had visited before..the room is a little dated but everything functioned as you would expect..the bed was a little on the hard side but OK for us. We didn't fancy the a la carte restaurants around the site and used the same buffet restaurant every night so this review may seem a little skewed but here goes...The food looked beautiful and was very well presented but after having different dishes we found that some things weren't quote as good as you would expect, the service was very hit and miss and had to wait for up to 15 mins before being offered as much as a glass of water..the whole feel was being in a cattle market..one person who I assume was a manger was very abrupt and maybe even disdainful of members of staff and diners alike.. The hotel has has 2 main pools 1 of which we found out on the 1st day was the "party pool"..barely visible foam and very loud repetitive music..not for us so we used the quiet pool for the rest of the holiday. At this pool the bartenders were superb (a big shout out to Edgar and Maryanne) they catered to anything you asked for and had a great smile on their face while doing it..it seemed than just a job to them.. We didn't see the need to use the butler so have no comments to make on that service, the restocking of the minibar and clean towels was very hit and miss so basically you got what you got but the standard of cleaning was excellent.. Overall we had a good time here but due to the the little things that make the difference in hotels you think are luxury and other lesser hotels seem to be missing..Anyone who goes here won't regret it but will feel slightly disappointed at the finer details which are lacking.

Honeymoon from hell! A 5 star DUMP!

This was supposed to be a first time travelling since Covid and it was for our Honeymoon. The resort itself is a dive. The upkeep is not Up to standards for five star resort by no means. The beach is swarming with wasps and the water is brown and murky. Definitely not a Caribbean feel. Our room was disgusting, when we arrived there was nothing set up for our honeymoon as requested and our mini fridge, air conditioning, and phone in our room Did not work. Our fridge was only replaced our very last night. The housekeeping didn’t clean are wrong the majority of our stay even though we requested every day. All the furniture in our room was broken or falling apart including the bed. The food was terrible, some days beer being served Was warm. There was nothing really throughout the day to entertain on this resort. This was by far the worst experience I have had with an all inclusive. I do not recommend this location.

Your location Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville Ctra. San Pedro, Km 12 La Romana Dominican Republic, La Romana, Dominican Republic Anyone who stays at the Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville will be pleased with the cleanliness of the grounds. The landscape was beautiful and very well manicured...spotless! The rooms are unbelievably spacious. They definitely give you suite vibes. The comfort of the beds, like most everything, is subjective. I like extremely firm while others may like to be enveloped in their bed. So if you like a firm bed, prepare to sleep like a baby. The pools area was well maintained; not a dish or cup left poolside. The staff move quickly picking up anything left behind. Both pools have swim up bars; fully stocked. Poolside, there is plenty of seating, including cabañas. You should not be disappointed or searchingfor hours looking for a spot....unless your picky and show up late day! The staff was welcoming, pleasant, and fun, dependingon what was going on. The resort posts weekly activities, i.e yoga, water aerobics and more. Staffs helpfulness made navigating the resort easy. What I didn'tlike or what sh I yld be changed: The cleanliness of the rooms could be better. They were not horrible but staff could do a better job. Areas that need improvement, i.e. light fixtures (the fixture between the beds in the doubleroomwas extremelydusty. I mean extremely! The shower doors need the rubber around then replaced ASAP. I also think the resort could use a add a detail-oriented manager who focuses on organization and cleanliness. FOR EXAMPLE, the buffets need major upgrades and reorganizing to ensure no cross contamination. The food was not good most days. The food lacked flavor, tends to be watery or extremely dry.

Not a luxury resort

This is a mixed review, it’s not all bad but we wouldn’t return. Our arrival and check in was smart and well rehearsed, cocktails and cold towels and a butler taking us to our room and showing us around. We initially felt like 5 star guests but it soon ended. We were pretty much ignored in the restaurants, requests for drinks fell on deaf ears at one stage I left my table and got my own. The worst was the steakhouse, you get fries and vegetables initially then a waiter is supposed to bring round skewered meats which are carved at the table. We had the vegetables and no more and watched tables of who appeared to be local guests having up to 4 waiters attending them carving meats. In contrast, the Don Pablo restaurant was far better although it was generally quieter and slower paced. The bars are well stocked, cocktails are made using local spirits but mainstream brands are available at no extra charge. The resort has a quiet and a fun pool where the entertainment crew pay a lot of attention to the ladies and I was shocked to see one encouraging a drunk girl to lift her bikini top during a dancing game. The grounds of the resort are very well maintained and the beach is raked and sieved daily but still the sand still seems to have a great deal of cigarette butts buried despite the no smoking signs. The sea is cloudy and we did get stung by something, apparently there are jellyfish but you cant see anything in the water more than a meter away. The beach is generally peaceful apart from the side nearest the quiet pool where the pump for the jacuzzi emits a high pitched squeal all day. Last Sunday, the beachfront saw the arrival of about half a dozen jetskis who were showing off and stopping anyone swimming out too far. Someone complained and the jetskis began driving at the coned off swimming area turning sharply to frighten those corralled in the sea behind the cones. The rooms are large but cleaning and stocking the fridge was hit and miss and the lighting is very poorly thought out. Our television didn’t work so we asked for a repair which didn’t happen so we repaired the broken cable tv socket ourselves. The weather was good and we were well fed thanks to the self service buffets but the day to day care and attention by the staff really let the resort down.
