Fantastic hotel and entertainment

Barry W on Dec 05, 2025

Carlos the man that serviced our room an absolute legend. The strip Grill, we had breakfast most days and the food was amazing, the staff were fantastic, we ate many times for dinner and again the food was fantastic but needs more options, some staff were amazing and they know who they are and others that want to be at there level. Pool also amazing and staff again amazing. Room nice and clean but needs iron and ironing board instead of a steamer, room service also needs more options, seems it caters more for the us than uk. We used the xhale some times but found the service in the lounge well they didn't look happy. Amazing entertainment. If you plan to come anywhere between December and May be prepared it's there high season so a lot of Americans now i work in a hotel but it was even to much for me since they only talk to other's from the states. Also akexander our concierge was amazing, always kept us up to date.

First time visit

Teresa L on Dec 05, 2025

Before I begin, get a drink, a snack, two drinks possibly. 3 stars for room, amenities, location. Wanted to give 5 but couldn’t get myself to based on their sales pitch (90 min wasted), few guilt tripping employees, and stomach issues. We arranged a shuttle bus through Amstar. They were very nice. The airport was easy to navigate. Workers will try to pull your luggage before you can so that they can get a tip. (I understand the hustle etc but I guess I just rather get my own and I also didn’t ask anyone to get it). The drive to the resort is about 45-60 min depending on the time and traffic. When we arrived to the resort we were welcomed with a drink and warm hand towel with a light fragrance on it. We arrived around dinner time after a long travel day so we just wanted to get to our room and freshen up to go out and get a bite to eat. Nope. A young man who worked there somehow managed to give us the cliffs notes but then we got suckered into meeting him the next morning for “the rest of the tour,” SIDENOTE: just say no….little did we know it was for one of those 90 min sales time share bs pitches. I signed no but somehow another young lady showed up and requests that we follow her to get breakfast which we had already done. I sat there and already said when she gets back we are going to leave and go to the beach as we had already planned. She sits down. I’m on my phone and she combatively makes a snide comment about how I better go get food because the 90 min is not going to go fast. I continue to look at my phone and I don’t make eye contact and tell her that we will not be sitting here for 90 min wasting time and or not doing what we came to do which was to enjoy some relaxation. She quickly responds well I’ll lose my job and get In trouble…I still continue to look at my phone and reply, you will not lose your job. We get up she’s angry and sorry but no, just say no. Save yourself the time unless you absolutely just don’t know how to say no then ok. I fill out a questionnaire and we leave. The beach was nice….until the shark infested area of vendors circling waiting for fresh blood to annoy and question constantly. I get the hustle but I feel like once you’re told no, then just stop asking. I finally put my sunglasses on where you can’t see my eyes and just relaxed even though they’d constantly ask us. Again we were there to relax not to continue to talk to every single person. Convos here and there but we are literally trying to just chill and enjoy the crashing of the waves sounds and the breeze. I work in events so I’m around thousands of people talking all the time so on vacay the last thing I want to do is talk. The bar by the beach area is nice. Ray was really nice. Pop up showers here and there but it’s a clean beach. The room…garden view and a cute little pool area with some nice cabanas. SIDENOTE: if you’re there to turn up get your party on and socialize then this is not the room for you. So glad they have these rooms available because the main pool is just loud and busy. Again we booked a vacation to relax and chill. So turning down was more our speed. TIP: take floating rings or something, the pool area there right out back is perfect for float, chill, drink. Put your towel on the chair under the cabana if you don’t want too much sun and if you do you can move your chair into the sun. TIP: have a little Bluetooth speaker so you can listen to music while relaxing. The food was ok in my opinion. But I wasn’t there to really eat so my better half and just really wanted beach and chill. We didn’t make reservations for the other restaurants or the ones next door but we heard great things. We just weren’t wanting to put effort in where we felt it wasn’t on our priority list. The buffet was decent. We of course had stomach issues so wasn’t surprised being our first time and all. TIP: take Imodium or whatever stomach meds necessary just in case. The barefoot grill by the beach was a bit too gross for me. Food wasn’t cold so I think as hot as it was probably is a reason a lot of people get stomach bugs. SIDENOTE: PACK SNACKS!!!!!!!!!! Drinks at the main bar were really good. Anthony makes some delicious passion fruit martinis. The crowd seems to be a little more wild and somewhat annoying after 11pm up there so if that’s not your vibe, call it a night. TIP: take a reusable straw…the paper ones get soggy fast. I know it’s environmentally friendly and I’m for it but I need a straw so I just use my reusable one. The thanksgiving dinner they set up I will say was very impressive. It was all on the plaza and the decorated area was just very beautifully done. Didn’t go to casino, spa, stores. The coffee shop was cute. Nothing extravagant, the drinks were watered down and or had no taste. Cute idea but needs a little improvement. Staff was nice. Space is very nice. Didn’t partake in any of the theme nights but they seem to do it up so I’ll give it up to them for that . Overall for our first time we enjoyed it. We won’t go back to this resort. When we go back in June we are planning somewhere else so good luck on your adventure. EXTRA: we did an excursion day trip through Amstar and that was great! The Saona reserve was amazing! Look into it get more information. Definitely the highlight of the trip.

Great for a girls getaway

The staff was amazing. You must do the Xhale Club room type. The perks were definitely worth it !!!!! There’s a market just outside the hotel to buy some great souvenirs.
