It’s paradise

Michelle M on May 09, 2026

Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out — not a single complaint. I’ve stayed at many resorts in the Dominican Republic, and this was by far the best one. The resort is spotless, the food was delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. “Magnífico,” as they say ?? A special shout-out to my Shanty. He is absolutely amazing and such a huge asset to the hotel. I met so many guests who had wonderful things to say about him. The entire entertainment team also does an incredible job and really adds to the experience. Another big plus was that everyone spoke English. At many resorts in the DR, communication can sometimes be difficult, but that was never an issue here. I can’t wait to come back.

We found our slice of Paradise

joseph w on May 09, 2026

This was our first all inclusive resort and our experiences with Breathless Resort Punta Cana far exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and extreamly helpful. There was always a friendly face sharing a smile. The beach was relaxing and snorkeling the reef was fun. The pools were full of activities, music and wonderful drinks. I recommend bringing more sunscreen than you expect to use. We also loved that we had access to the Dreams resort next door and floated the lazy river and slid down their water slides. The food was good and the nightly shows were a good way to winded down at the end of the evening. If you want more there is always more to do, to find, to drink, to eat, to have fun, and to relax. This was a great vacation and would 100% recommend. We did end up getting an upgrade to the Xhale club upon check-in and we would definitely do it again.

Beautiful and accommodating!!

Wyrickh (Holts Summit, Missouri) on May 08, 2026

As someone who has stayed at many resorts across several countries, I can honestly say this one truly impressed me. 1. Beach The beach was absolutely beautiful, and the resort did an excellent job keeping the seaweed cleared away. The beach vendors all appeared to work together, possibly through the same company, and unlike many resorts I’ve visited, they were never pushy. If you politely declined, they simply moved along. Like most resorts, there weren’t quite enough palapas and shaded spots for everyone, but we quickly learned that if we left our belongings on chairs before breakfast, we could usually secure shade for most of the day. 2. Rooms We stayed in a Junior Suite with swim-out pool access, and it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Because of the humidity, everything felt slightly damp at times, even with the AC running, but that’s fairly typical in tropical climates and didn’t bother us at all. One day our air conditioning stopped working, so we called the front desk. Maintenance arrived within 10 minutes, and by the time we returned from dinner the room was perfectly cool again. The minibar was always restocked when requested, and they happily accommodated extra requests as well. I especially loved the blackout curtains — perfect for sleeping in after late nights. Our room was located behind the main Breathless Bar, so it could get noisy during evening events. However, friends of ours who were bothered by the noise were moved to a quieter room very quickly, which showed great customer service. 3. Atmosphere This resort is ideal for groups. We were there with a group of 31 women on a girls’ trip, and we saw many other large groups during our stay as well. The vibe was lively and energetic throughout the day and night. I’m not sure if it’s always this festive or if we happened to visit during a particularly busy week, but there was definitely a fun party atmosphere. That said, it was still easy to find peace and quiet at the beach when we wanted to relax. The entertainment staff were constantly engaging with guests and putting on performances. Their energy was incredible. Special shoutout to Shanty — easily the best dancer on the island! 4. Amenities We were very happy with the amenities included in our stay. Some of our friends upgraded to the Exhale Club, which appeared to include butler service, larger rooms, access to a private pool, and exclusive restaurants. It also seemed that guests received full bottles of liquor in their rooms as part of the upgrade. 5. Food & Allergy Accommodations (The Highlight of Our Stay) The absolute standout part of this resort was the food service and allergy accommodations. I have severe allergies to several common food ingredients, and our travel agent informed the resort before our arrival. At check-in, I was immediately directed to speak with the concierge team. They provided me with a card listing all of my allergies and instructed me to show it whenever I ordered food. What truly amazed me was that I was assigned a dedicated food concierge named Gregory. He contacted me daily through WhatsApp and personally checked in wherever I was dining. The resort clearly takes food allergies extremely seriously. Gregory coordinated directly with chefs to ensure my meals were prepared separately and safely every time. He made sure I always had something delicious to eat no matter where we went on the property. For the first time at a resort, I was able to completely relax and enjoy the dining experience without stress. My meals were always fresh, hot, and carefully prepared. Gregory was incredibly dedicated and professional, and it was obvious he genuinely cared about his guests. The best part? This service was provided free of charge by the resort. I tipped generously because I was so grateful for the level of care and attention I received. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few things, but overall I would absolutely recommend this resort — especially for travelers with food allergies. When my travel agent asked whether I would feel comfortable recommending it to clients with dietary restrictions, my answer was an enthusiastic yes.

We Loved This Place

bhendrix96 on May 06, 2026

We spent an EXTENSIVE amount of time looking through reviews before booking at Breathless Punta Cana - let me save you some time and tell you all the things you may want to know about this place. 1) vibe: great place for drinks, partying, meeting people. if you want a more "chill" place do not stay here. All that being said, if you want to nap on the beach or by one of the pools this is possible... but I am more talking about the party pool and nightlife... dont expect it to be boring. We had the best time with all of the different themed parties. 2) entertainment: we experienced fire show followed by silent disco on Thursday night, day time birthday party in the pool (at some point while we were there, I cant remember if Friday or Saturday), neon party in & out of pool (so you can dress in basically whatever you want depending on if you want to be in or out of pool), white night beach party with performers, burlesque show. we had a great time at all of the shows, their performers were top notch. 3) this location is directly on the beach, some of the resorts apparently are not so beware about that. this one had plenty of places to sit on the beach, but we did struggle finding some shade depending on time of day. Sargassum was fine, they had a net to catch most of it and still did a lot of ocean swimming if you are into that. did have some rocks in the water so if you own water shoes maybe this a good time to bring them, but there are areas that dont have rocks... we were barefoot and were fine. did also have a lot of different pools and hot tubs around the property 4) food - good overall. breakfast variety at "Spoon" was amazing. Lots of options for dinner, but the only thing you had to make a reservation for was the hibachi table (I believe this was called Silk City). We also ate the Strip Grill, which was good. the international restaurant was good flavored, but had smaller portions so just ask for additional food if you are really hungry. We did have great service at the international restaurant and liked the ambiance a lot there. 5) check in - ask if they have a personal concierge available via WhatsApp / text. We had 6 people with 3 rooms in our party, but only 1 person got offered access to this. Was a really helpful service since most of the workers only spoke limited English... if you have a friend that is spanish speaking, bring them. that will be helpful. 6) getting to the resort - kind of a pain since it is 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport (PUJ airport code). We ended up booking a separate driver than the one the hotel recommends (they recommend AmStar, we used Mozio through Rome2Rio because it was cheaper) and it still worked out great (fyi, it was $25 USD to resort + $25 USD back to airport + tipping). It was nice, though, to have the 45 minute drive because you will pass by lots of other resorts, homes of locals, land with cattle, and some of their stores/restaurants, etc. I think that stuff is cool so I did not mind the 45 minute drive besides just the time it took away from the resort 7) leaving resort to go home - use the timing your transportation company recommend. they picked us up at airport at 10:45am for a flight departing at ~2:30pm, which we thought was crazy but we NEEDED IT. It took us FOREVER to get through PUJ.... from getting dropped off at airport to making it to our gate was 2-2.5 hours, which was ridiculous. Especially since too many people there making it hot (not good for your hangover). 8) drink cups - at other, more calm, all-inclusives we have stayed at it was recommended to bring a large cup to take around with you.... you could do that here, but we found it was more of a pain to keep up with your cup. Most bar service, poolside service, and beachside service was great for getting a drink so it would have just been more hassle for me to put it in my own cup... but we did see some people pouring their drink into their yeti-type cups to keep colder for longer. resorts cups are in a variety of sizes and plastic. 9) cleanliness- had no issues with how clean the property was. floor tiling was a bit gross from us tracking sand in from the beach, but we did see them mopping. would recommend bringing slippers/slides to walk around the room in, but in our room they also gave us some Breathless brand house slippers (unsure if anyone else in our party had these). they even put those slippers beside the bed for me, which was so sweet & appreciated. otherwise would have had no idea they were there. 10) bedding - so comfy. im weird about hotel sheets and I had no issues with these. soft, felt clean. we stayed in a king room with balcony overlooking the resort if that matters in any way. 11) this property is huge, so spread out. bring comfy walking sandals. you can also walk next door to go to Dreams Onyx (they are connected). We had the italian place for dinner at Dreams Onyx and it was SO GOOD. we think best meal we ate during our trip. Did not pay for this meal, BTW, they include that in your all inclusive if you eat / drink over at Dreams Onyx for most places. 12) your $200 resort credit is kind of a sham, but we figured it would be. $40 can go towards one thing (I think this one was casino or purchasing wine), $60 towards another (I think this one was towards romantic dinner on beach experience which is usually around $200-300 USD), and the rest of the $100 can go towards something else (I believe this was the spa... you only had a few options of things at the spa this could go towards). just ask front desk / amenities desk in case it changes. 13) tipping goes a long way here. you can tip with USD so bring smaller bills, but FYI their home money is pesos. we messed up and brought some $50 bills and $100 bills and had a difficult time breaking them. I cant think of anything else to share. We had a great time and loved it. Would recommend for a group or a couple that is a lively crowd.

Great for 20 & 30 year olds

F9537WTjillg on May 05, 2026

We stayed at this resort for a family destination wedding. The resort seems to appeal mostly to 20 and 30 year olds, with very loud music and heavy drinking. We were glad we upgraded to an Exhale Club ocean front room because it was quieter and had extra space and more perks. We really loved our 3rd floor balcony oceanfront room and private deck. The specialty restaurants had very mediocre food. The buffets were typical but good variety. Bars were plentiful. Beach was very nice. The resort grounds were also very nice. There were plenty of pools and they seemed well maintained. Even though there were plenty of lounge chairs it was hard to tell which ones were in use because people left towels on them. It is not a place we would return to mostly because we don’t fit the age range it seems to cater to.
