Daniel German provided excellent service during the romantic dinner that my husband and I shared for our Honeymoon. He was at our service during the entire dinner and was always happy to serve us in anyway.
I would definitely book the romantic dinner on our next stay.
Fun and relaxing experience

I just returned home after a wonderful trip to Breathless Punta Cana with a group of 5 friends. We are in our 30s and were looking for a mix of relaxation and fun, and we were very satisfied with our experience. Having been to many resorts before, I will briefly outline the major points that might be helpful if you’re considering coming here:
1. Check in/check out:
We arrived to the hotel around 1pm but check-in is around 3. We were able to get our room by 3:45 with the help of Fabio, who was excellent and very accommodating. In the interim, we were able to explore the amenities and have lunch at the buffet. The check-out process was generally efficient. There are no wristbands for this resort. You primarily go by name and room number.
The buffet food was excellent. There was a lot of variety (fish, meat, vegetarian) with some chef stations during the breakfast and lunch times for a variety of meals. The buffet doesn’t open for dinner. Not all the restaurants listed on the website are open daily (there is a schedule with what’s open when) and the only restaurant that requires booking is the Hibachi (if you want that specific service, otherwise you can dine in without the experience). The food quality at the restaurants was also excellent and the service was fast.
Because we were a large group, we were able to try many of the different dishes by sharing them. I would say compared to previous resort chains I have been to, the quality of the food was on the higher end. As a Breathless guest, you also have access to the adjacent Dreams hotel, which has many restaurants as well. Their buffet is open for dinner, but compared to Breathless at lunch, the dinner offerings were much more limited. We also tried room service which I thought was quite tasty and the service was fast.
Generally the drinks were good (especially the passion fruit margarita) but the exhale club drinks were infinitely better. The tequila is premium at exhale (access to Patron) whereas the type served at the non-exhale pools were more standard. The pina coladas and frozen drinks were quite sweet so I tended to stay away from those. There is a cafe called “The Nook” at the lobby which serves mini sandwiches, pastries and coffee which we went to daily. You can ask for the espresso to be brewed instead of the drip espresso from the machine for a more elevated experience.
The service at the resort is excellent. I never felt we needed to beg for anything - there are plenty of servers on the beach and near the pool ready to take orders. There is certainly a language barrier for some but they are so kind and try their best. They try to be helpful at this hotel, more than any other hotel I’ve experienced. At the breakfast buffet, a member of their team comes to each table to ask if there’s anything we need in the rooms, or to make the experience better. They act on it immediately and follow-up after. It shows their commitment to their patrons which I found really sincere.
The rooms are nice and standard (some have stated they need a bit of updating but in my experience they had what we needed). The AC is cold and the linens are soft. The rooms are cleaned daily (a general clean - not super thorough) but good enough. Bottled water and bottled pop as well as beer are replenished daily and as needed. There are diet and Coke Zero options as well, as well as bottled tonic and soda water.
The cleanliness of this resort is probably the best I’ve seen. I never walked into a dirty washroom. Coming back to Pearson airport in Toronto reminded me of how nasty washrooms can get, but at Breathless, the public washrooms (even near the beach) were very clean and maintained well. They have incense burning around the front lobby and the scent is very relaxing. I was very impressed by their attention to detail when it comes to clean facilities (even the floors and grounds!)
The workers are so kind and sweet and very friendly and approachable. They are all trying their best and work hard to make sure your experience is relaxing and enjoyable. They are very professional and polite. Eduardo at the beach and Jhonathan at the poolside bars were outstanding.
The beach is beautiful but there are some blocked off areas that make it a bit less majestic (not sure why they’re there - maybe currents/seaweed). There’s lots of seaweed but they are diligent about maintaining the grounds and have little trucks that come and clean them up. The walks along the beach are serene. The pools are clean and there are many to choose from. The “party pool” has a live DJ from 3:30-6 daily which is a lot of fun. The other pool bar closer to the beach also has music but of a different vibe. There’s also winding pools that you can relax at with your friends if you want a quieter experience.
Generally the shows were fun to watch but not very interactive with the audience (more of a performance) and the evening parties had their entertainment team but they didn’t have a lot of energy/oomph (it might just be tiring to do/they rely on the younger crowd to bring the hype). The Wink bar gets quite busy during these evening events and while there’s another bar right outside the lobby, it’s quite busy too. Those are the only times we experienced a wait for drinks which wasn’t bad overall (especially compared to other resorts). The energy of the entertainment team though, compared to other destinations, is less, but the crowd makes up for it.
I thought the resort was excellent overall. It was a very satisfying trip and an enjoyable experience. I would go back. I would recommend this resort especially if you want access to two resorts for 1 (we went to experience the offerings of Dreams as well - including their slides and lazy river). I feel amazing coming back home and very refreshed!! I would recommend this resort to family and friends!
Nice but OK not the best.

The hotel could use updating in the rooms not as modern as Breathless in Cancun or Jamaica. The outside grounds were beautiful there. No restaurants that face the water/ocean which is a big deal for me. I'm there to see ocean views which you don't see here, nor from my room. Just a pool view. Disappointed in that. Food was only good in 1 restaurant, room service food was not good at all. Frustrating how not many workers speak English. As I read previously from other reviews, I confirm the alcohol is bad/weak. I had a great time on my excursions & highly recommend doing while in DR. I didn't meet many singles as I'd hoped going solo. Either couples or lots of females/groups. Not sure I'd recommend for a solo traveler. My ATV excursion going to/In Limon was the absolute best experience!
