My husband and I had our first visit to the Dominican and stayed at the Colonial from April 15 to April 25 and had a Majestic swim up junior suite (adult section). When we arrived we were taken to the Club check-in area where we met our butler, Wolfgang who took us to our room. The room was what we had expected – although I really wished the bathroom was not open to the rest of the room. Now onto the rest of our experience. ROOM Pro – good size, well stocked, air conditioning worked well and housekeeping was always good. Con – very dark need better lighting, pool side beds were in an area that was partially sharp rocks and partially dirt, which often became mud due to pool water or rain. POOL Pro – Good number of chairs and cabanas and the swim up bar was conveniently located in the middle of the pool. Con – Had to be up very early to get a cabana, bar often played the music way too loud and some mornings the pool area had not been cleaned. BEACH Pro – beautiful, well maintained. Con – had to be up by 5:30 a.m. if you wanted a cabana or chairs in the shade. FOOD Typical resort food, some days good, other days bad. The breakfast buffet at the Rodeo Grill was better than the main buffet. Rodeo Grill dinner was usually good, and the chocolate cake was amazing! We also tried Ma+Suri and it was good. ENTERTAINMENT Really felt it was non-existent. The shows at night didn’t start until 9:30pm and unfortunately, we did not find them very good. STAFF Pro – the only good things were the housekeepers, who always did a great job, and the bartenders at the adult pool who were very friendly. Con – We often felt invisible, or we were bothering them by being there. At the restaurants you were rarely ever greeted they just simply said how many people and then they would point at another employee and say follow them. You could sit at your table for 10 – 15 minutes before being acknowledged and given water or order a drink. Examples: (1) At the Rodeo Grill one night I wanted to have my steak fixed as it was undercooked (almost raw), and the server proceeded to argue with me but finally very unhappily took my steak back. (2) At the lobby bar one night there were 2 bartenders leaning against the wall talking to each other when we walked up to order a drink. They looked right at us and ignored us! We had to ask twice to order before they finally helped us but had very bad attitudes about it. The worse staff experience we had was with our butler Wolfgang. We had 2 interactions with him – he showed us to our room when we arrived, and he made us reservations at 2 restaurants (even though we did not ask for them and did not want to go to Le Gourmet). Other than that, he completely ignored us! He did not show us around the resort or give us any information about what goes on at the resort. We would text him with questions and he would never answer. One example was when we were locked out of our room and were not sure what to do or where to go. We texted him, and after half an hour we gave up and ended up going up to the front desk to get help. We ran into Wolfgang 2½ hours later and asked him why he didn’t answer us, and he said “Oh, I didn’t check my phone today, did you get it fixed?” When I said yes, his response was “Excellent”, and walked away. No apologies, nothing. We watched other butlers walking through the pool area on a daily basis checking in on people and spending time talking with them to make sure everyone was having the best experience. We did not have unrealistic expectations on how we wanted to be treated but I have never been to a resort where I felt invisible, disrespected and like a bother to the staff. While this resort is beautiful and could definitely be a 5 star, the lack of care and respect from staff makes it about 3 stars and has completely soured us on wanting to ever return.

Hi all ....where do I start?.....my husband and I stayed at Majestic Colonial for 2 weeks in April 2024........I cannot even begin to tell you the fun we had. The entertainment, the wait service, the bartenders, the cleaning service, the concierge, the butler service.....and the Medics.........are all on point. like I said we stayed 2 weeks and had such a great time that I came back 2 weeks later with my daughter and my sister to stay yet another 2 weeks. this island is my heart and every time I go there I come back feeling renewed. Edwin you are a beautiful person and exquisite butler and I just love you. Seneida, Selenny, Alfredo, Mr Nobody, Alfredo(seafood rest) the beautiful beautiful hostess at the seafood restaurant, the little pequena beautiful girl in le gourmet, the gentlemen who sang to me on my birthday, the gentlemen who served me with such care on my birthday, the beautiful maid (Hermosa Doncella) Wendy De Jesus, who cared for us above and beyond when we were there, the entertainment staff, the guard on the beach, the bartender in club level and anyone else I hope I did not forget, and I am sorry for not remembering all of your names at this moment. I cannot thank you enough for what you did for me and my husband and especially what you did for us with our daughter who needed physical help. The only request I would have is that repeat customers like myself to get a better rate I would come more often......Majestic Colonial Punta Cana you are my heart I will always come back and also tell my friends...in toll i spent 4 weeks at this place and couldn't get enough of it.....Punta Cana you are my home. I love you all thank you, thank you ,thank you.....I cannot wait to come back....I love all of you , you are now my family.....take care of yourselves..........with love..............................................Margarita

Meet with Irwin our personal butler for our stay, marvellous man. A five stars service for Maycol and Marisol always in a good mood. Léonardo is the best bartender in adult pool section. Excellent food and service. We preffered the restaurant Le Gourmet et appreciated the buffet for the variety.

The Majestic Colonial was everything we hoped a resort should be. The facilities were awesome, the longest swimming pool I've ever seen and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach was great with continual entertainment activities for all ages. The restaurants were all fabulous, the food was very varied and delicious. Unlike the other resort we stayed at, here all the guests were treated equally with full access to everything the resort offered. We are considering returning to the Dominican Republic in the next few years, if so the Majestic Colonial resort will definitely be our first choice.

Our stay at Majestic Colonial was fantastic! This was our first time visiting the Caribbean and we couldn’t have asked for a better trip. The resort is gorgeous and incredibly well-maintained (there is constant, yet intrusive maintenance going on to keep the resort clean for guests). Our room was spacious, clean, and restocked with snacks and drinks daily. The two balconies, one with an outdoor jacuzzi, were an added bonus, although we spent most of our time at the beach so we didn’t really utilize them much. There is so much to do at this resort! The beach was fantastic— friendly service, beautiful beach, and plenty of chairs and cabanas. The cabanas do fill up quickly but we found we were always able to snag one when other guests left so just keep your eyes peeled. We didn’t use the pools much because we preferred the beach, but the pools were impeccably kept and the adult-only pools provided a more calm atmosphere than the more crowded beach area. The local salespeople at the beach were very nice but can be a little pushy, so beware of that. The nightly entertainment was so much fun— our favorites were the Michael Jackson tribute show and the FunJestic show, where we got to participate onstage. Each night provided a unique experience that was a great way to end the day. We really enjoyed the food. I am a pretty picky eater and after reading some reviews online, I was a bit worried about the food. But, it was great and there were so many options! Our favorites were Le Gourmet (French restaurant) for breakfast and Tres Carabelas (beachside seafood restaurant) for dinner but we also really enjoyed Rodeo Grill and Taino. For lunch, we usually just ate the burgers they grill daily on the beach and had an afternoon snack at La Hispaniola. The servers at every restaurant were always so friendly and really elevated every dining experience. They seemed to take an interest in getting to know us and made us feel right at home. Joaquin at Tres Carabelas provided some of the best restaurant service we’ve ever had. He is incredibly kind and was a joy to chat with. We were delighted when we got to sit in his section multiple times— he is truly the BEST!!! If you happen to have Joaquin as your server, know that you are in for a wonderful time:) While the facilities and accommodations were fantastic, what really made the stay so great were the staff. The Dominican people are so friendly and full of life— their energy is contagious and every interaction I had with staff across the resort left me with a smile on my face. Our butler, Luis, was extremely friendly and promptly addressed any requests we had. He went out of his way to make sure we were having a great vacation and really went the extra mile for our party. We are grateful to have gotten to know him! We were amazed with how smoothly such a sprawling resort runs and that is no doubt due to the hardworking staff. Thank you for making our trip so wonderful, we can’t wait to be back!!! Cannot recommend Majestic Colonial enough if you’re looking for a fun, yet relaxing vacation. We hope to be back to Punta Cana the very near future and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.
