Beautiful place

Catherine B on Apr 24, 2024

We stayed at the Iberostar Dominicana and it was beautiful. As with any trip there is good and bad. First the good. The grounds were well kept with beautiful pathways to walk along. The food was awesome and plentiful with many places to eat. The pools were huge and well maintained. Lots of activities. Lots of staff always smiling. Now the bad. The beach was beautiful and clean but very crowded. There was a communication barrier; we only speak English and most of the staff only speak Spanish, but we made do. Unfortunately people chair reserve, but as we were early risers we did not have a problem Would we come here again? Absolutely

Wonderful and beautiful hotel, excellent value for money

We had a lovely stay at the Iberostar. Of course it’s not the Ritz, but you are paying a fraction of Ritz prices. So if you go in with realistic expectations, there’s a lot to love. We found lots of delicious mains and side at the buffets. Desserts tended to disappoint. The Mexican restaurant with reservations was fantastic and totally worth it. The pools are super with plenty of space. Staff is very friendly. No one was pushy with upselling or excursions-was grateful to be left in peace. The dance classes each day were so fun and lively! And we had excellent luck at the gift shops, star market and larimar jewelry shop both in the main lobby area. We all loved that this resort had such a tropical garden feel. And the sustainability element was really great, something that for me separated Iberostar from many others. I would highly recommend the Dominicana and would happily return!!!

Pros: -Beautiful beach with soft sand -2 large pools -Many outdoor seating options with shade -Balconies on each room -Plenty of activities -Great MCs of the activities -Family friendly -Great bars -Safety -Clean -Plenty of food options Cons: -Language barrier. You need to know basic spanish to get by -Hit/miss food. Some nights the food was great, others not so much -Rooms need updating: showers heads & AC strength -Family friendly but not a lot of activities for adults only

Not a 5 star hotel

Mihaita M on Apr 13, 2024

I just checked out of Iberostar Dominicana, I stayed there for 2 weeks and here’s a realistic review. The rooms smell like mold and they are out-dated and for sure they are not even 3 star rooms. The hotel swimming pool, outside area and beach is well-maintained and very nice. The drinks and food are very basic and the buffet is a nightmare every night at dinner, as there is no space at the table and you wait ages for someone to serve you and clean your table. A strong advice I would give would be to not go to the ‘hotel presentation ’ because you waste minim of 3 hours of your holiday for a scam. The staff in general is friendly and hard-working

Good. Not great.

Been here 3 days now so can provide some detail. The Dominica side of the resort is definitely in need of updating. It smells musty. The punta Cana side seems prettier and perhaps more up to date. The common spaces are the restaurants and the pool. The pool is pretty and has a bar. The beach is lovely of course but dirty. They don’t seem to do a good job of picking up trash (and people keep leaving garbage which is infuriating). The big buffet that is attached to the lobby is good. Plentiful and choices even for vegetarians. The restaurants are ok. Nothing great. The Asian place is better than the others. People are very friendly but don’t really expect results. Often there is nobody at guest services and we’ve been moved around from one person to another more than once. Things to bring with you: Coffee mug Water bottle Singles for tips Candle for your room if you don’t mind any a musty smell The spa is a little pricey but the services are very good and plan to use the various pools and amenities for a few hours if you prefer the quiet. The response on my previous review said that management would be in touch with me which to date has not happened and I would be very surprised if it did.
