This was our second time at Barcelo Maya. We loved the Caribe. All inclusive makes for a relaxing week on the beach with no worries. Great place for families or couples. The staff is super nice and happy to be there. Day trip to cenotes and turtle sanctuary was expensive, but fun. Will definitely be back!
Was just ok for the money we paid

I stayed here with my husband and 4yr old for the first time Valentine's Day week 2025. Our stay here was just ok. Unfortunately, we can't say that we had an amazing stay here. The gentleman who greeted us at the front was not friendly or welcoming at all in fact there was no warm friendly greeting. We stayed in a premium oceanfront suite. The suite is not oceanfront, very misleading. I knew from researching before our trip that it was a partial ocean view. We walked into premium to check in and the young lady there again was not welcoming or friendly at all. She did not explain the amenities or tell us what was included with premium. We get to our room, put our luggage down and first thing I see is a dead roach on the rug next to the bed. That's nice. There was trash from the previous guest on one of the nightstands. We couldn't figure out how to order room service. Most resorts you turn the TV on and the home screen is a resort screen for ordering room service or it lists amenities, not this resort. One way they try to sell you on premium is that you can go to any ala carte restaurants. There were some that didn't have openings for the whole next week. They also say a big perk to premium is that the room service is free. I have never been to an all inclusive resort where room service was not free for everyone. The room service here was such a big disappointment. I believe we ordered room service 6 times and everytime it was incorrect. Once you call down to have them send up the missing items you're waiting at least 30min and/or you have to call down several more times to check on it. This is not premium service. We found out the day before we left that room service comes from the Beach resort which makes zero sense. Would explain why we had to wait 30min for our missing items to be brought back up. The rooms are not restocked with snacks and water. We were one of the rooms closest to the pool so if we wanted waters we had to walk up to the premium lounge which was a good 5min walk away. Other resorts you come back to your room and there's 6 bottles of water stocked everyday. Small things like washclothes we had to call down for, again it would take like 30min for them to be brought up. When we checked in I asked the lady if she could send up someone to make both couches into beds. She never sent anyone so I had to call down. There is no sense of urgency with the workers here. The buffet was just ok. The 2nd night of our stay we ate at the buffet and all the meat we tried was overcooked. We ate at La Fuente and it was ok. Their salad bar had little gnats flying around so we skipped that. My husband had some weird stomach thing the 2nd day there and I had it the 4th day, very unpleasant. We had dinner at Rodizio at the Palace on Valentine's Day and that was a wonderful experience. The spa is beautiful. We both had massages and went for hydrotherapy 2 days. The first day I went was in the afternoon and there was probably 25-30 people also doing hydrotherapy. Most were in groups and talking so it was not a quiet, relaxing experience. My husband said his massage was one of the best he had gotten. Getting 40% off a massage being premium was nice, but you had to schedule within 48hrs of checking in. We talked to 2 managers about our experience and they were very friendly and offered us a voucher for our next stay. Our room was right next to the pool and Captain Morgan's. Super convenient and our 4yr old loved the kid's water park area. The layout of the room was great and the 2 huge jetted tubs were amazing. The resort and beach are beautiful. So our stay was just ok. We don't think for the $$$ we paid we received premium service. We were constantly stressed about having to ask for things and things not arriving correctly. Would we stay here again? Probably not.
