We will definately be back.

Jacqui T on Dec 19, 2025

We returned this year after being there same in 2024. We upgraded to Privilege each time. We loved being in gated community and feeling safe while exploring. Lots of little gift shops, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. We did walk across the highway to the mall one day too. LOVED being able to walk and to see the dolphins whenever we wanted. We only ate at the buffet for one lunch and one supper - it had a good selection and we satisfied ourselves easily. Love the restaurants esp Beloved where every meal was a pleasure. Our room was okay - ground level with no view which was disappointing but clean and adequate. No drying rack on the balcony - was hard to get our bathing suits dry. Although we could have eaten at some other restaurants we found the reservation system too complex. Loved being able to get the entertainment schedule on our phones. Evening shows were wonderful and impressive dancers. Also the beach party - I didn't dance but totally enjoyed watching! We were happy with the service level - esp Mauricio at the Mexican restaurant (what a lovely young man!) and Oscar Chan bartender (who's cheerful and friendly demeanor brought us joy). The beach may not be to everyone's liking - drop offs and rocks with a few easier ways to get in and out. But I did like the fact that they have breakwaters and I could snorkel to my heart's content. Lack of big waves also would make it safer for more timid souls/children. We went to Playa del Carmen one day and got our fill of the big waves. We actually did not swim in the pool at all but they looked fine enough. Annoying that despite posting signs - every day people put out their towels to claim chairs for the entire day despite not being there - both at the pool and beach.

very bad

Consuelo R on Dec 19, 2025

When I arrived at the reception desk, they gave me some information, but only partially because I had been there before. They told me that as a courtesy for celebrating my birthday, they would leave a complimentary gift in my room, which never arrived. This is the second time I've gone there to celebrate my birthday, and it's the second time they haven't left anything in my room. At other hotels, they always bring me a bottle of champagne, fruit, or chocolate, but here, nothing. On the first day, when I entered the room, it smelled strongly of dampness. They tried to fix the problem, but it wasn't resolved. I went out to buy some things I needed, returned to the hotel, and left the items on the bed. When I went back to the room and wanted to use some hair cream, it had disappeared. I informed two hotel staff members and the reception desk, but I received no response. I definitely won't be returning to this hotel.7

FUN TIMES

Jennifer H on Dec 19, 2025

Alright, sitting in the lobby ready to leave. Couple things: Negative- I would say Luis at the front. While very nice, they are tricking you to buy a membership, we felt mislead as we were told booking a la carte and excursions. We've never had that experience before where we have to go for lunch w a stranger etc. Either way we figured it out and declined. Positive Food is pretty good. Lots of variety and no complaints. We ate at the a la carte a lot, and the crepe place is amazing. I ate there daily lol. Staff - impeccable. They are phenomenal. So friendly and going the extra mile. Pool - first 2 days was kinda dead, lots of miserable ppl. Once they left, it was fun. Made tons of friends. Can't control ppl coming in, but overall great crowd. Disco - DJs are so great, take requests and play good tunes. We had a blast. The best part was the Marina, it really made the trip. Live bands, great food and something to do. Its here we met Captain Killer and went on an amazing fishing trip! It was such a blast. Even prepped the boat for a bday celebration. Dolphins are rescues, and some are blind. But they are so cute. Especially the sea lion. Don't disturb him at night, he huffs at you lol (slumber disturbance). Hahaha. Overall a wonderful resort and tons to do!

Wed recommend

Really enjoyed our stay. Small and very personable. Resort is a little dated, but clean and maintained. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Good food and never a line at the buffet. Visit the burger place - Awesome. Beach is small and kinda rocky. The gated community keeps the street vendors out, and you feel safe walking around the area at night. You can even rent a golf cart.

Left after 3 days of a planned 14-day stay

Ruta R on Dec 12, 2025

Unfortunately, this hotel was a major disappointment. We booked 14 days at Catalonia Riviera Maya, but after only 3 days we were forced to leave as the stay became unsuitable for us. The food quality and variety were very poor, with extremely limited options and the same food repeated across restaurants. This did not match the standards or expectations based on the hotel description. We raised our concerns during our stay, but the situation was not resolved in a way that would allow us to continue our holiday there. Instead of a relaxing experience, the stay caused unnecessary stress and discomfort. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects good food standards, consistent service, and proper support when issues arise.
