Left after 3 days of a planned 14-day stay

Ruta R on Dec 12, 2025

Unfortunately, this hotel was a major disappointment. We booked 14 days at Catalonia Riviera Maya, but after only 3 days we were forced to leave as the stay became unsuitable for us. The food quality and variety were very poor, with extremely limited options and the same food repeated across restaurants. This did not match the standards or expectations based on the hotel description. We raised our concerns during our stay, but the situation was not resolved in a way that would allow us to continue our holiday there. Instead of a relaxing experience, the stay caused unnecessary stress and discomfort. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects good food standards, consistent service, and proper support when issues arise.

Not 4 star in my eyes.

midger580 (Southampton, United Kingdom) on Dec 12, 2025

In my honest opinion this is not a 4 star hotel would be 2 star in Europe. Entertainment not the best audience participation on two night where as I come to be entertained, food was ok I have had better. Unfortunately renovations at the poolside constant dust and drilling noise. No mention of this before booking. We travel with tui quite a bit maybe time for change.

Great R&R experience!

Esther S on Dec 11, 2025

We went to the Catalonia Yucatan for our nephews wedding. Such a great time. Rooms are kept very clean throughout our week, food was really good…lots of choices and easy to eat healthy :) Our favourite hang out spot was the main Yucatan pool near the swim up bar. Manuel was our guy for the week, attentive, engaging and fun to chat with. So happy to make what we wanted and never left us dry lol! Had a massage with Aurora in the spa. Fabulous!! She even French braided my hair afterwards while I was just soaking in the experience!!

Premium is worth it if you like the Beloved restaurant.

lorned365 (Regina, Canada) on Dec 09, 2025

This was a last minute vacation. I enjoyed the trip. The bus ride is long. We waited an hour for everyone to board the bus and the trip from the airport was over an hour. The resort is very clean and the staff were excellent. We booked the privilege level and I thought it was worth it. The restaurants are great. I especially liked the Beloved restaurant. The staff at the front desk were always helpful. The website to book reservations for the restaurants would not work at first, but after a few tries the front desk fixed it. There are no plastic bottles on the resort. I recommend bringing a go cup of your own if you want water at the beach. WiFi worked well for me. It was a little weak on the beach. The direct shuttle might be worth a try next time. Thanks!

Very clean resort with excellent staff

Karrie3268 (Regina, Canada) on Dec 09, 2025

Overall we had a very positive experience. This resort was very clean everywhere, and the staff were excellent. We did book privilege and I would recommend this as it gives you access to the Blove restaurant, which we really enjoyed and priority booking in the other restaurants. The meals in the other restaurants were also good, but Blove provides a la carte on nights when you cannot book in them: I hate buffets so this was important to me. One of the features I did really like was a crepe and sandwich stand, so you could grab something quick at lunch, and also a place to grab hamburgers and hot dogs. I also appreciated there are lots of lounge chairs and a number of different pools. You could wander to the pool at 9:30 and still get a chair. There are a few things you may want to take with you including tissues and a reusable mug. There are no disposable dishes on the resort or paper products, and the water is filtered and placed in reusable glass bottles (I drank it the whole time and it was safe water). So your own yeti can be helpful to take water with you, or to take coffee in the morning. The chips and junk food in the store are expensive, and if I went again I might bring come pringles. There is lots to eat, but as there are no real munchie type foods, so it can be nice to have a quick snack. The hotel also has no elevators, so there are alot of stairs. We had a room on the second floor, so I actually liked not having to ever get on an elevator, but if you have mobility issues, this resort might be a struggle. The other thing to be aware of is it takes about 2 hours in total to get to the hotel from the airport. This is true of alot of hotels on the Mayan Riveria, so if you have not been in this area before, just be mentally prepared for this.
