Strongly recommend reconsidering whether this resort is the right choice.

This is a beautiful resort, with great pools and a lovely beach nearby. Unfortunately, the experience itself felt like a scam. Despite being advertised as all-inclusive, it truly isn’t. During our three-day stay, we were never able to have dinner. Each time, we were given a beeper that never went off. After waiting more than 90 minutes at two different restaurants, we gave up and went to bed hungry, with a strong feeling of frustration and having been misled. It seems that only members receive a genuinely all-inclusive experience. If that is not you, I strongly recommend reconsidering whether this resort is the right choice.

Great all inclusive!

My family had a wonderful time relaxing The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences. We enjoyed the restaurants, poolside eating, the Infinity Pool and the beach area. They put on a fun New Years Eve party. Our suite was clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend this property.

Great staff, good food.........4 out of 5 overall

We recently returned from a week at The Fives. Overall, we had a great time. It was my family of 6 (4 boys, ages 12-20) and another couple plus their 14 year old daughter. Pro's: The staff. They were awesome. Alejandro at the Gin bar made the best Espresso Martini's, amazing. Rocido by the pool was incredible. She took care of us all week and always did so w/ a smile, great service. The food was very good for an all inclusive. We ate at the Thai 2x (because of the shorter wait time) and Italian by the main pool (their pizza was amazing, get it as an appetizer). Sushi place is listed in the cons. Lots of pool options. We preferred the main pool, lots going on and close to food options for lunch. The burgers and tacos near that area were very good! The New Years Eve party was great. Just don't let them try to talk you into a table. They were charging $400, $750 and $1k for a table!! Not joking. This started at 9, so no food. They wanted that much money for a table! So unnecessary. The private tables blocked access to the bathrooms so you had to go into the nearby Italian place to go. We had a penthouse/rooftop suite, it was great. No complaints. Great room. The rooftop comes with a tub, but it's not a hot tub despite having jets? Odd. Cons: The beach. Lots of rocks, even in the sand. The stretch of beach with ocean swimming is very small, but we took a few walks in each direction which were nice. The ocean is not very swimmer friendly, again lots of rocks. If you're a beach person, this is not the place for you. On a funny note, the locals seemed to like to set up their chairs and umbrellas right next to the volleyball court.........bad choice. The wait times for dinner were long. They claim not to take reservations, yet ask if you have one when you arrive? The service is hit or miss. The Sushi place took the longest and then they placed all the food in the middle of the table w/o saying what was what and whose food was whose. Quite a mess trying to figure out who had what. That on top of the nearly hour wait for food was not fun. After dinner everyone was still hungry and went for tacos. They were very high pressure on upselling. They wanted the wives to sit through a time share pitch. I said no, right away. They offered the ladies massages and bali beds if the husbands came to the presentation too, zero chance that was happening. They asked us every day, despite me saying NO every day. Enough, let it go. It was annoying. A few we talked to said the presentation was high pressure and a complete waste of time. Not enough loungers pool side. There was plenty of bali beds to rent, most of which were empty. This is another money grab that comes at the expense of those that want to sit pool side. We were those people at the pool by 7 to claim our chairs, but we alway had someone stay there and ate in shifts. By 9 AM our entire crew of 9 was there and only left our chairs to go into the pool or for lunch. We saw some reserve chairs early and not show up til after 1 PM, very rude. This could be remedied with more free loungers and less paid bali beds. We had a concierge, but after we said we had already prebooked our excursion and didn't want to be upsold anything else, he disappeared. The excursion was Xcaret Adventure Park, it was awesome. Highly recommend. Overall, we had an amazing week. Weather was great. We made some new friends from the UK and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would I return? Probably not. There are different things to see and I preferred the experience at Secrets, seemed much better organized in regards to meals.

Fabulous Resort & Location.

We spent almost three weeks here during Christmas. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are excellent, quality of food is really high. Our kids are older but lots to do for younger children. Lots of people here complain about the wait times for dinner but we found it wasn’t nearly as bad as described. The restaurants are all really good so choose one, book in and wait with a drink! We loved the Sushi and the Thai the most. Fernando in the Thai restaurant was superb, funny and all round a great guy. Would highly recommend a visit.
