Another great trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba

Wylie B on Nov 09, 2024

We had another fantastic trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba. It’s our 4th or 5th time to the property. We had a beach area casita with a butler, Edgar. He was simply fantastic - made all dinner and cabana reservations for us, picked us up whenever needed before dinners, arrival, and departure, and was just generally a really nice person. The food was all great. We got room service breakfast twice and for winner went to Gaia twice, Fuego twice, Bassano once, Tauro once (all at Fairmont), and Saffron once (at connected Banyan Tree resort. All were great! Breakfast and lunch at Brisas and Hix (sushi), were excellent, and even the pool and beach food was really good. We didn’t have a bad meal the entire time. All staff super friendly. The grounds are also beautiful. We will be back!

I love this hotel

Nicole F on Nov 09, 2024

I love this hotel and strongly recommend it to anyone coming to the playa del carmen area. The rooms/casitas are great, the service from the employees is very welcoming and they take great care of their guests, and the ambiance is perfect. Shoutout to Alfonso and Martin who were the best bell men to come back to the resort to.

Mixed Experience

Kerry K on Nov 09, 2024

Mixed experience. On the positive side, great food, wonderful spa, lovely location and most importantly, the people who staff the hotel were, without exception, friendly, helpful and attentive, and all genuinely so. Joan Gonzalez, who helped my wife and me on several occasions, deserves special mention. On the other side of the equation, the only three star rating derives from the fact that much assistance was required. Some things — e.g., safe not working, shower conditioner dispenser dispensing shampoo rather than conditioner — were small, and easily and fairly quickly remedied. Another — a lavatory that wouldn’t flush — was not small and not so quickly remedied. Had that problem arisen when we first arrived, we would gratefully have accepted the hotel’s offer to shift rooms, but it didn’t. It arose on day two of a five-day stay when we were in the middle of attending multiple wedding events and shifting was no longer practical. It quickly became apparent that the problem was not the lavatory itself but something in the outside plumbing. By the late afternoon of day two — approximately six hours after we first reported the problem —the hotel seemed to have resolved the problem. But the problem then returned late on day three and persisted through day four. This time we were told that a root had grown into a pipe. To the hotel’s credit, it got on the problem quickly on day four; however, the problem was not finally resolved until sometime late that afternoon (exactly when, I can’t say because we were never informed, notwithstanding repeated representations that we would be). I never got an answer to my question of whether, given that the hotel sits in the middle of a lush rain forest, it had (or could have) some system in place to spot and obviate these kinds of problems in advance. To its credit, the hotel, with just a bit of nudging, did not charge us for two nights. Finally, a couple of what I hope will be taken as constructive suggestions. First, away from the main building, the property is not well lit. Flashlights in each casita would be helpful (or, alternatively, making flashlights available for purchase). Second, because the property sits in the middle of a rain forest, a couple inexpensive plastic ponchos in each casita would seem to make sense. Put the hotel’s logo on them, and send them home with the guests.

Fabulous getaway

Sunshine31462918111 on Nov 09, 2024

Our fourth stay. Loved many of the new renovations. Beautiful, safe, relaxing paradise. Restaurants were amazing and beverages were all top shelf. Service was amazing and all staff were courteous and helpful. Really enjoyed the golf and the ease of getting around the resort on staff driven golf carts. Were able to go from pool to the beach in minutes.
