We have stayed at other Melia resorts, and this resort does not live up to the brand at all. We have been here for 5 days so far, and here is an honest review: Positives: room is clean and air works really well. Pool bar staff ( at the actual bar) is amazing! Adel was amazing and so helpful along with his immediate staff. Not so positive VERY UNDER STAFFED! We purchased a Level Room ( don’t waist your money) it states that there is a separate check in area, not so once you arrive. The check in area is exactly the same. -Very very small pool for all guests( see photo) and for part of the day the kids club is using half of it. Despite the other responses from the hotel stating that there are multiple pools, there aren’t. There is not enough seating by the pool for all of the guests. They do have Bali beds, but even with the Level room you have to pay extra for them so they are empty. At other Melia resorts they are reserved for Level guests at no additional charge. In the 5 days that we have been here we have had NO pool wait service ask us if we would like anything from the bar. There are 2 people working at any given time for all of the guests here. This is not ok given the amount of money you pay to stay here as a Level guest or not. -Beach: they have a section for level guests, but the chairs are claimed chairs. One day we were looking for seats and the beach concierge helped a couple that had just walked down take the last two chairs even though he saw us looking. Not worth the extra you spend for the “Level Experience” . Food- the buffet wasn’t bad, Casa Nostra we ordered drinks, our wait staff forgot about them, the food was mediocre at best. Once again understaffed. They only had 2 waiters for the restaurant. Cafe Nao food is really good, and the wait staff is great. ( pictures below) However one of the nights we had a 6:30 reservation and we got there at 6:25. There was a group in front of us that was a large party so we watched the greeter set up the tables for this party for 15 min. Then when he came to check us in, he was rude and said we were late for our reservation! We still have 3 days here, so we will see if it gets better, but I am not hopeful at all.

Loved our stay at Melia Casa Maya. The Level experience was so worth it! The food was so good, hotel and room were nice and clean and my kids loved the pool, activities and water park. Huge thanks to our concierge Victor, He was such a huge help the whole stay. We will be back!

Good hotel. Small buffet but overall good food. Italian restaurant was good. Nice beach. Excellent concierge service. Victor, Majo & Lily were great. They did everything we asked or needed! Thank you.

Pro’s: Spacious rooms, very little seaweed on beach and great water park for kids Con’s: Consistently bad service in all areas of the hotel: - Had to chase down waiters constantly just to get water or coffee at our table - Very little to no service around pool and beach area (emphasis on very little service) - Crowded bars and slow service - Unaccommodating staff, for example wouldn’t let us take fork and knife up to the room or give us a to go option - One of two elevators not working the whole stay so always a delay and crowd to go up and down to the rooms - Lifeguard in water park really rude to kids and guests - Kids club appeared to be closed or at least not staffed - No service or food in water park so have to walk back and forth (not a short walk) - inconsistent replenishing of mini bar - Towels quickly ran out and were unavailable - Flies all over food at buffet - Paid for concierge Level service and was pointless as concierge only messaged through whatsapp and took forever to respond - restaurants and bars seemed understaffed so everything was slow and there were lines often for even the smallest things These things individually are not deal breakers, but all together made for an unfortunate stay. Considering all the options in the area I think you can get much better service and therefore experience for similar prices at other properties. I would not recommend and will not be back despite my kids loving the water park.
