A wonderful way to spend a week in Cancun

This is a wonderful, smaller resort that just had major renovations. The work is mostly done, they are still doing minor work on some of the rooms, but nothing that detracts from the experience. Accommodations - our Level Ocean View suite is the biggest, nicest room we've ever had on vacation, and a good deal I thought. Nice comfy bed, nice bathroom, plenty of hot water (some reviews had complained about this). Bars - They have 2, one inside and one at the pool. Drinks are plenty strong, no skimping on the alcohol. Beach is huge for a small resort, not much sargassum. Plenty of chairs. Pool is nice, not heated and was never really crowded. Plenty of loungers, no need to even consider playing the towel game. Restaurants - They have a buffet, plus 2 ala carte places and a grill. Right now, due to low occupancy the ala carte places are open on opposite nights, and the buffet only does breakfast and dinner - lunch is available at one of the ala carte places (Cape Nao) and the grill. Cape Nao is also an option for breakfast if doing a Level room. The food is decent, but I'm not a big foodie. Don't expect a Michelin-star experience. Service - Totally over the top, everyone has been great. One review complained about the line at the front desk - I never saw one and I could always walk right up for assistance. All in all, we've really enjoyed ourselves. For what we paid it was great.
Beautiful boutique feel small hotel, would stay again!

We were anxious about our trip as the hotel had only been re-opened 3.5 weeks and there were a lot of negative reviews. Our experience was completely different to the negative reviews and we had an amazing stay. We stayed for 11 nights in mid January, hotel capacity went for 25% - 40% during our stay. Hotel is finished beautifully, the staff are all amazing and cannot do enough for you. We really enjoyed the food in the buffet (Merkado) and the Mediterranean (Cape Nao), the menus are not extensive but we did a fairly long stay and did not struggle with food or variety at all. We stayed in a level ocean view room and rooms were cleaned with mini bar restocked everyday. Staying at the level meant we were assigned a concierge who could not do enough for us, he booked all our evening meals, Bali beds round the pool and gave us advice on places we might want to go outside of the hotel. Animation team were incredible constant activities all day for all abilities without pressure to join in if you just wanted to spectate. 20% of the rooms at the hotel are timeshare rooms and these guests do not get the all inclusive experience without paying extra. During our stay we did hear quite a few of the guests discussing the changes for them since the re-opening and it has been a big change for them which may be influencing some of the reviews. We had an amazing stay and would recommend!

Loved this new Melia! We are Melia members and stayed at other Melia hotels. The hotel itself and premises were top notch, the service needs some improvement of course, staff was very nice and helpful! Beach is amazing! Pool is huge, but not heated. Waterslides were great for kids
Seafood restaurant at Casa Maya

We had the best food and experience at the seafood restaurant. Rock shrimp and curry was so good. Didier was the man! Room 1520 was a great view. The restaurant went out of their way to make sure we had a great meal. Weather has been cold and rain but the hotel made the best of it.
Beautiful resort with some significant drawbacks

My girlfriend and I stayed here for New Year's Eve 2024 and had a decent experience. My girlfriend is celiac and the first two days she really struggled with the food options. None of the buffet restaurant staff knew which foods were gluten free. All that changed when we dined at the Casa Nostra restaurant and were served by Oscar. Oscar instantly knew all the gluten safe options and finally made her feel at ease. He was a sweet heart and we sought him out everyday for the remainder of our trip. He even checked the ice cream ingredient list to see if their pistachio ice cream was safe for her (it was.) She went from starving and crying to being happy and excited for meals after we discovered Oscar. We loved him and wish he could be our waiter all the time. This resort is very family friendly, and by that I mean there are lots of kids running around. So if you're looking for a more peaceful quiet experience, maybe check out another resort. If you are bringing your family, this is the place. They have an impressive waterpark designed specifically for kids. The resort has really impressive beachfront space. We were able to get a shaded tiki hut almost everyday without having to go out early to claim it. We could find plenty of space away from other beach goers if we wanted to. There really was lots of beach real estate. The newly renovated pool was very nice. We didn't sit there much as we preferred the beach. The bartenders are impressive. They are slammed with drink orders all day and they happily pour drink after drink. I don't envy them. Its a tough job. At the inside lobby bar, bartender Leider was particularly friendly and we enjoyed visiting him every night. One of my biggest complaints is how noisy the rooms are. You can hear EVERYTHING going on in the hallway when you're in your room. There is no carpeting or material to dampen noise in the hotel. We were woken up most days by hearing the hotel cleaning crew making noise out in the hallway. We could hear our neighbors hanging clothes on their clothes racks and walking around with hard sole shoes. It was really shocking. I wish they had some carpeting or other insulation to cut down on the noise level in the rooms. The resort had lots of activities all day and even set out of fun stage and dance floor for new years eve. We really did have a fun time, but as a couple without children, we would probably look for a quieter resort next time.
