HORRIBLE!

The worst resort we have been to! Despite making a reservation (package including flight and accommodations) three months prior, when we arrived they didn’t have a room assigned to us. They put us in a great room on the beach “for one night” with plans to move us the next day. Apparently that room had been “booked for months” and we couldn’t stay there for the week. Well, the whole time we were there it was occupied 1-2 nights and then empty! The next day they moved us to a horrible room that was RIGHT beside the disco. Even with noise cancelling headset, I could hear the karaoke and disco! My partner went and slept on the beach! The next day we requested a move. We were told “no” by the reservation agent (not the front desk staff but the person working from home in charge of booking reservations). I took my complaint to our travel agent, who took it to a WestJet rep…they too were told “no” to a room change. Finally the amazing man in charge of entertainment, George, had us moved a few doors down. Still noisy but somewhat bearable. They do LOVE the cruisers who invade the resort whenever there is a cruise ship at port. Gets even busier. So three room changes. No sleep. Loud. Busy. When we returned home, I put in a complaint to HR Morgan. Two months and still no response. Staff on sight were great. The office staff/administration don’t care about your satisfaction.
About what we expected...not much

HM...it is a solid 2 1/2 to 3. that's it. The best, is the staff, just fantastic and helpful. The site is huge front to back, there is a lot of walking if you are not at the front (beach). Paid for a beach front, got what I will call a pool front...not a big deal. The not good/bad...have a complaint, need maintenance, have an emergency...go to reception, no phone in rooms. The domestic beer...."local brand' sediment in the cans, ran out went for tolerable to terrible undrinkable with a Royal Dutch skunky bitter beer. no options. No diet cola ran out. beach loungers...many are in disrepair, some types uncomfortable, AND HM allows 24/7 encampments to be reserved by those "special people". Cruse ship in...HM rents chairs, and they over run the beach, packed with cruisers who leave garbage everywhere. Food. was repetitive but we could find something, seem more geared to the Spanish guests. Large contingent of French Canadians, at the evening entertainment very little translated to English. Mostly Spanish and French. DAY music...extremely LOUD!!! ridiculous! Install more speakers and turn it down rather than blasting those who are lining up for a drink ear drums out. Room was basic but clean. No coffee makers in room. Staff, excellent. location perfect. Really this is a basic low cost AI resort, so we didn't expect much on our 8th trip to ROA, went off resort for entertainment, dinners, happy hours as we expected. If you at looking for basic, this will do (beach front). If your a bargain hunter HM will do.
