Decent place to stay but not for dining

Lo D (Los Angeles, California) on Jan 02, 2026

Great place to stay. Very relaxing . It has lots of great activities you can do there. Just don't eat there for dinner. Not worth the price. For billing, make sure you look at your bill carefully because the billing of meals can be recorded incorrectly. Staff lacks of knowledge on the resorts and often times we get incorrect information.

Kona Kai - unrealized potential and understaffed

Phil H on Jan 01, 2026

Stayed at Kona Kai Christmas Day through December 31 with extended family to celebrate Christmas and mom's 80th birthday. As you can see in the attached pictures, for some reason the outdoor seating and firepits are apparently shut down for "winter". Despite sunny skies and warm days 65-75 degrees and repeated requests to the front desk, the outdoors facilities are shut down. Yet the pool is open. Resort seemed to be sold out but staffing at front desk and the restaurant was inadequate. Long waits just to get into the Vessel restaurant for breakfast buffet despite the fact that many tables remained empty. Buffet ran out of food a few times - the basics of scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast and omelets. Buffet is typical overpriced hotel buffet - $84.94 for buffet, coffee and orange juice for 2 people. Recommend you walk to Mitch's for breakfast instead.
