Some very good things, but room is substandard for price

The location is fantastic, the attached Thai restaurant is superb, the bar is nice, the staff is friendly, the vibe is hip, but for $800 a night you really should be getting a room that looks more like a 4-star hotel room and less like a room in a concrete fallout shelter. Weird bathroom layout. No drawers to store clothes. Very noisy ancient heater/ac that kept me up at night. Lighting is grim.
Love This Place – A Must-Stay!

We’ve stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints! The staff is always friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location is perfect. It’s our go-to spot whenever we’re in town. We keep coming back because the experience is consistently excellent, and we confidently recommend it to family and friends.

Room was ok, nothing to write home about. Area is not the best if you wake up early as most places don't open until 11am. The hotel bar doesn't open until 5pm, which I usually wouldn't mind, but since I booked this from a Conference Hotel Block, I would have liked to have quick drinks with people before going to dinner meetings.
Excellent stay in Japantown!

This was our fifth stay at Hotel Kabuki, and it was excellent as always. The front desk staff made the check-in process easy and pleasant. The room was spacious and clean, and the views of San Francisco spectacular. The breakfast buffet, presented by Kin and Jak this visit, was delicious. Wonderful fresh fruit, miso soup, oatmeal, eggs, and everything else were all perfect. Thanks for another great stay—we can’t wait to return!
We loved it - would happily stay here again!

We really enjoyed this hotel! The two most recent reviews I had read of this hotel were horrible, so I was nervous upon booking. However our experience here has been EXCELLENT. We are completely pleased with the room and the stylish but comfortable vibe of this place. Check in was friendly and helpful. I am visiting here with 3 other adults , we found our rooms to be in perfect condition, very comfortable beds and bedding. Great city views with small balconies (I love being able to open windows for fresh air). There are multiple seating areas in the lobby for relaxing, working, casual meetings, etc. The location is so great if you want something other than the more touristy areas (Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf). We enjoyed being in Japantown- great food is only steps away, or an easy walk to the Pacific Heights and Fillmore neighborhood. We visited the National Japanese American Historical Society across the street - can highly recommend the current exhibit - Topaz Collages by Jeanie Kashima, of her family's time in a WW2 internment camp in Utah. One of the most worthwhile 30 minutes I've spent while on vacation. Beautiful and effecting work, completely free to the public.
