Poor customer service

539R (Chicago, Illinois) on May 17, 2024

I visited the resort as part of a conference. The resort is well-situated near the airport, but I would not visit this resort for business or for personal. It is simply too expensive and not very nice to spend my own money on it. As for business, I have been trying to get a copy of the hotel receipt for a couple weeks now (I didn't have time to wait in the 30 minute line to get one at the checkout desk when leaving) and no one will get me a copy of the receipt or return calls. The customer service here isn't even as good as a basic Courtyard or Hampden Inn. It really isn't a very good hotel. It could be! the rooms are large enough etc. But the customer service is definitely one of the worst I've experienced in a long time.

Try another luxury resort instead

Let me start with the Pros: every person that works the grounds, bell men, pool, bar, bathrooms are absolutely so nice! We loved Eric as our waiter by the pool, super attentive and even went above and beyond during a rain period. We loved the beach area and location of the hotel. Grounds are kept impeccable. Super convenient to the airport. They also have nice entertainment at night. Cons - ugh where do I start. Honestly the front desk employees need a lot of help with customer service. We arrived at about 8pm and literally could not find anyone to check us in. I finally found a random employee who search and eventually found someone. Ok fine it happens but then we get to the room and I can tell it’s warm. But I thought maybe it just needed time to cool down. Well next morning comes and it’s warm. I go to the front desk and ask them to send someone, no problem. Later that afternoon it’s still bad so I ask again, no problem. Now we go into another night and we were both sweating. I go the following morning and very nicely ask again to send someone and they do. The guy comes and I can tell by the temp gauge it is blowing warm air but he says he fixed it. An hour goes by and still warm so now I ask for our room to be changed and they accommodate but say we need to wait a little bit. Hours go by and no room. I finally start to get more stern and ask for an upgrade and they did accommodate. The new room was better but tv didn’t work all the time, no bathrobes, usb outlet didn’t work, security lock didn’t work, etc. Now these seem petty but we were over it. Another issue was security one night. We went for a swim around 9 and as we were approaching to go back in to head to our room we were told there was a dress code in the hotel. We had towels on. I explained we were heading to our room and she needed to make sure we were heading directly to our room. Maybe they should be more concerned with the 14 year old girls going to the club than paid hotel guests using the pool. Overall, we liked the hotel but when we return we would likely try another hotel.

Great property and location! Close to the airport but located in a very nice area. Beach was nice pool area great and the lobby and nightly entertainment were first class! Great Happy Hour at the steak house. Close to a few very good local restaurants.

Not a Fairmont that expected

zdejavous on May 07, 2024

This is the worst Fairmount hotel that I have stayed. It does not has the signature Fairmont fragrance, but instead it has the moldy smell in the hall way and in the room. Poorly maintained equipment and furniture. Look like a run down holiday Inn express. Pictures profile from their website is very deceptively upscale looking but in reality it is not. Mattress is not fairmont either, therefore, no good sleep besides the thin wall do not block crying baby next room. This should not be called Fairmont.

Disappointing Hotel Stay - Left early

roosroxstar (Denver, Colorado) on May 01, 2024

We checked out early because our stay was very disappointing. You can se where at one time the hotel was lovely, but it has since lost its luster and is living off of the Fairmont name. The rooms are run down, showers leaked into the entry way. There was no beach service, half the gym equipment was broken, the valet dented our car, and the staff was more miss than hit with customer service. The price of our two rooms was crazy high though we booked through Fairmont early, even the manager could not deny we were overcharged… would have saved $3k to check out early and rebook the same day for the rest of our trip! So overall, it was not worth the stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I am glad we left early.
