Loved it

Loved the friendly feeling this hotel exudes. That is both staff and guests. The food was extremely good and surprisingly for an AL the wine also. Didn't need entertainment at night as everybody chats around the bar. The noise from the country and western bar was negligible, no problem. As for the road, never noticed it. The only reason I've given 4 instead of 5 is because it does need some TLC. Simple maintenance issues. Like the wardrobe door didn't shut properly, the lamp was tatty and curtains missing hooks. Would I return, definitely. The beautiful garden, pool, food, cleanliness and friendly staff make it a special reasonably priced small hotel. We we're sorry to leave. Special mention to the barmen, especially Arnold. Friendly service and superb cocktails. And Miss Marshall who was professional and meticulous in all she did.
Small and Friendly

Whilst this hotel doesn't have lavish facilities it does have a personality of its own. It is situated somewhat off the beaten track although it is just off the main Castries Gros islet Highway adjacent to Rodney Bay Marina just across the road. This Small and Friendly Hotel consists of 35 rooms all facing the gardens and pool. The rear of one block faces the main road and the other block faces an industrial area. There is some road noise from the highway which can be heard from all rooms but it is not significant. The rooms themselves are typically Caribbean in style but are clean and comfortable and furnished some with a large double bed and some with two smaller double beds, Each has a Fridge TV Safe Hair dryer Iron and Board Tea and coffee facilities Good Air Conditioning and ensuite bathroom with large shower area shampoo conditioner and shower Gel full set of bath and hand towels which were changed sporadically and not always a full set replaced. There is a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers but very little in the way of drawers well in our room anyway but we did manage to house our clothes. Beach and pool towels available from reception. Owing to the small size of the Hotel the dining area is small and is situated by the hotels entrance and reception, there is an outside area covered with a plastic roofing so if all rooms are full it wouldn't accommodate all guests in one go. We were all inclusive so we did eat at the hotel most days although being AI entitled us to use the facilities of the Bay Gardens Hotel which is a 15 minute walk towards Rodney Bay The Hotel do run shuttles hourly to this hotel and on to The Bay Gardens Beach resort where you are able to use the beach facilities and depending upon your meal plan are entitled to request vouchers for lunch and Evening meals at this hotel 4 for lunch 4 for dinner on a two week stay. The food at the Marina Haven is generally Caribbean in nature and is of a good quality a mixture of Al La Carte and buffets throughout the week for evening meals. Lunch is from a fixed lunchtime menu which is quite extensive. Breakfast has a good selection and you are able to order your requirements ie poached eggs or an omelette if you do not fancy the buffet, plenty of fruit porridge bread bagels muffins yoghurts etc plenty of tea and coffee. You are able to request packed lunches if you are out for the day but they must be ordered the night before. Alcoholic beverages are taken from a purpose built pool bar open from 11am to 1030 PM Good rum Piton Beer Guinness various ciders all good What makes this hotel are the staff we have stayed there before and it was one of the reasons we returned all the staff are friendly and helpful when ever I wanted anything it was done there and then. On our previous visit there was a day time duty manager who was brilliant she ran the place like clockwork she was sadly missed however that didn't detract from our enjoyment and although Shaun a brilliant barman had also left he did take time to come and see us which was great Shem and Arnold are brilliant at their jobs multi tasking from bar tending to waiting along with Gertrude in the dining room. They have been joined by some trainees and Jimmy the supervisor who also worked tirelessly. There is no significant entertainment at this hotel a managers cocktail party and a BBQ on Saturdays In our two weeks there was a singer one night Yes there is still the noise from the Country and Western club behind on a Friday and Saturday night the Marina Haven is still a 3 star hotel with a big heart so do not expect a lavish posh 5 star hotel switch yourselves into Caribbean mode and enjoy the friendly nature of this hotel. One thing can we have more sun beds and shades please ?
Good location, comfortable stay.

Took bed and breakfast option. Located within easy distance to bars, restaurants etc. Linked to a larger resort with more facilities and beach access. Regular shuttle provided to the resort - with drop off on way to shopping mall. Is also within walking distance (40 minutes) to the resort on one side and the national trust site, Pigeon Island on the other.Decent value.
Hit and miss with a hint of fawlty towers

Hit & Miss with a hint of fawlty towers. Well on the whole it wasn’t a bad stay at Bay Gardens marina haven. It seems very clear to us that they have some staff issues ( under staffed ). Certain days/evenings across our stay they were clearly under staffed resulting in big delays in food and bar service, the bar closed early a number of times. On one occasion they hosted some sort of industry conference and the dining area at lunch time was essentially taken over by that so it was a late lunch for us. In particular I’d like to give a BIG thumbs up to Arnold Dwain Shawn and Shem who worked tirelessly to keep the rum / pitons and cocktails flowing whilst at times helping the restaurant out, also George the shuttle driver one or two of the other drivers can be unhelpful and abrupt. The cats appear at meal times not the best especially for those who have a dislike to cats around them. The hotel is in a great spot ( bar’s restaurant and mini mart close by ) and has a personal feel to it being small, if they can solve the staff numbers issues and improve customer service then I’m sure the service and overall experience would be great. We raised a few concerns with the local TUI rep regarding the hotel and we are still awaiting a response, it looks as though the hotel is not at all interested in customer service to resolve issues. We ask to speak to the manager and had no response. The management need to and must do better. The surrounding roads can be noisy at night so ear plugs might be a good call, also for the music being played into the small hours we think not hotel related.
Not perfect, but good value for money

We mainly enjoyed our stay at Marina Haven. We were on a good value two centre package with Blue Bay Travel. Positive points - room was large, clean and comfortable; minibus running hourly to sister hotels was very useful, especially being able to use the clean private beach and sunbeds and towels at the Beach Resort; we were able to eat at Bay Gardens Hotel near the mall for a change of scene; breakfast buffet was good with fresh fruit and yogurt most days and a varying selection of hot food; lunch snacks good; evening meals mostly OK to good, sometimes buffet and other times à la carte; being able to sit in a sheltered outside area to eat; most staff friendly and helpful. Negatives - first two nights sleep blighted by very loud music from outside the site (quiet the other five nights) - such a pity as we don't think the hotel will have any control over this; food service pretty slow on occasions; dining area a bit scruffy and small with furniture that is well past its best, and it's a thoroughfare between reception and one of the accommodation blocks. The location isn't exciting, but we liked being able to flag down public minibuses outside, which we used to get to Gros Islet and Castries; Gros Islet beach is actually walkable in about half an hour, and doesn't shelve steeply like Reduit beach does. One day we enjoyed walking along the beach from Gros Islet to Pigeon Island.
