Had an amazing time at this resort

Susan B on Dec 08, 2025

Beautiful beach & great staff, but bring patience – this isn’t your typical all-inclusive Stayed Nov 24–Dec 1. The first two days were rough. Check-in was chaotic, almost no English spoken, and we were just handed a sheet of paper and left to figure everything out. We got blue bracelets but had no idea the infinity pool requires gold bracelets and a $100/day upgrade. We only found out when we tried to order drinks and were turned away. The on-site store prices were sky-high, and with the exception of one truly helpful staff member, most employees we encountered at the start seemed indifferent or rude. It felt misleading and like a bit of a rip-off. Important: this is not a classic all-inclusive. No drink service to your chair at the pool or beach, no à la carte restaurants (meals are 2 locations, buffet only), and we only learned on the second-to-last day—from another guest—that you can order free items off a menu at the Club Pool until the buffet opens at 2. Once we got past the rocky start, though, we genuinely loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat. The highlights far outweighed the frustrations: • Some of the friendliest, hardest-working people we’ve ever met—massive shout-out to Daniel, Joel, the restaurant waiters and bartenders, shuttle drivers, security team, and the maids (tip them—they earn every penny!). • Food was excellent: surprisingly varied and tasty every day; we always found something delicious. • Stunning (though rocky and unswimmable) beach right in front; calmer swimming beaches are easy to reach nearby. • The shuttle to the downhill Club Pool is an absolute lifesaver on the way back up. • When our A/C broke, they moved us to an another room in under an hour. After I mentioned our rough start, a manager Abel tracked us down, listened, and apologized. We felt like they truly care. Pro tips: • Skip the hotel store entirely. Walk 30 seconds out the main gate—blue building on the right has normal prices for water, snacks, etc. • Housekeeping is fantastic but comes at random times. Just step out into the hall; the maids are always nearby and will bring coffee/water instantly. Bottom line: gorgeous location, delicious food, and some of the warmest staff you’ll ever meet, but the resort is disorganized, communication is poor, and premium areas cost extra (and aren’t clearly explained). Arrive with patience and realistic expectations, and you’ll have an amazing time. We left happy and are already planning our next trip!

Great place to stay and relax. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food is delicious and with variety of options. One of the best hotels in Puerto Escondido!
