Rather Swim With Sharks

Its a dump! Anyone giving this more than a 1* star has been smoking to much ganga on the beach. The island itself is dirty and unappealing, granted the beach was nice but that is were the positivity ends. Rooms are old and decaying with mold and rust on some items, food was ok for dinner but you can be sure for lunch the next day you are getting recycled dinner left overs from night before, served up as something else. Aside from the bar staff and the house keeper who were pleasant, the staff have a serious attitude problem, maybe a hangover from colonial days, the restaurant staff in particular (except for one nice young lady Rhian) were rude and ignorant displaying a huge distain towards us being there, especially the kids. God forbid you ask for an omelet at the omelet station, the total lack of willingness to do the actual job was palpable. Part of me thinks they get paid with takeout or something and the more you eat the less they get, hence the distain. Poor service starts at the top and filters down, the managers were straining to smile at the best of times, I'd rather a week in a caravan in Tramore then stay in this S&*t hole ever again. I couldn't capture photos of kitchen area but if walls behind rubbish bins in buffet area are anything to judge by, god help my bowel in the coming days. I also think the A/C above the bed with its dirty moldy filters contributed to a chest infection. TUI, Air Canada etc. should be embarrassed to have this place on their accommodation lists. Oh! 3 times the toilet ran out of water and needed maintenance to come and make some sort of temporary fix

The hotel is dated and needs an upgrade. 3 stars. We arrived 22 Dec the Christmas tree in our house was bigger and better than the one in the hotel reception the Christmas decorations were really poor . The new year decorations were a joke . They still have covid barriers up at the reception which takes away the personal touch of talking to reception staff . We were on the 5 th floor the lift mirror had scratches and marks and signs stuck up with dirty old tape . Our room was ok but very dated the fridge door was covered in rust . The toilet is stuck in a corner and you have to do a yoga pose to reach the toilet roll such a poor layout . The room was cleaned daily to a good standard . The balcony had 2 plastic chairs that just were a no . The tennis court in the photo is not the reality the tennis court is in a very poor condition and is across the road . The food is ok but same thing especially breakfast no variety the desserts really poor didn’t know they did ice cream until we saw someone else getting some then you have to ask and wait . There is no day time activities or entertainment. The evening entertainment is ok . This hotel is really for older people I would say 50 plus . The grounds need a tidy up and the ladder leading into the deep end of the pool is a H&S death trap and needs replacing .The gym is small but functional there were 2 green yoga mats that were disgusting that we took down to reception and told them to remove them . The only saving grace is the staff absolutely every member of staff was amazing friendly and nice . The location is good for Oistins and St Laurence Gap .
Incredibly basic hostel like hotel

On our 3rd trip to Barbados we booked this hotel from info and pics on the virgin website. Huge mistake this hotel looks nothing like the pictures and I am surprised to read positive reviews as I could not find anything positive to say . The hotel is more like a hostel with no comfort to be found . The room was clean but unbelievably basic , two old plastic chairs on our balcony overlooking a rubbish tip . The bathroom was better suited to a prison not one nice touch . Outside was not clean and cigarette buts and spilt drinks remained uncleaned from one day to next . The restaurant was just a place to eat and we ate our dinner in 25 minutes and that was that not an enjoyable meal experience just food as your hungry. The pool had towels on beds by at least 6.30 am . The lift had an electric panel hanging off and felt unsafe . The outdoor seating was just upright plastic chairs apart from about 6 comfortable chairs that were dirty and broken . I could go on . We checked out after 1 night and booked ourselves a beautiful air BnB on the beach as did not want to waste any more of our holiday at this hotel . I think Virgin know it’s sub standard as we did get refunded If you have booked here and think like we did it will be ok for a base I suggest changing hotels because once you arrive it is not easy to get assistance. I feel this is an honest review of a hotel that offers no comfort .

I just came back from a pleasant solo trip here. I booked this as part of a tui package. The room met my requirements it was clean, spacious equipped with kettle, iron, safe and a fridge. I did not watch much TV, the WIFI worked well across the premises. I had a nice sea view and could watch sunrise each morning. The food was reasonable, some days better than others. for breakfast there is a selection of eggs ( order fried eggs/ omlette first as there may be a wait) , bacon, sausage, pancakes as well as healthier options fruit, cereal etc . pace yourself I was all inclusive but i also ate out at times too. I ate twice in the a l carte restaurant, i enjoyed the quality of the food and the service. The drinks selection was reasonable i enjoyed some cocktails and an abundance of rum- sometimes service at the bar was slow so pace yourself The majority of staff were kind and hospitable shout out to Douglas, nathan, Shaun and others who made me feel at home. The hotel is right on the beach and there are sufficent sun loungers. there are also other beaches nearby. There was some tortoises on the grounds which i enhoued watching. The hotel has so much potential it does need some renovations to make it better but it is generally ok for a 3 star hotel I used the hotel as a base to explore the island, i went on a few excursions including snorkelling , mount gay rum tour, harrisons cave, wild life reserve, Harbour lights and oistins The hotel had entertainment most nights which was ok- i liked the live reggae bands and took part in karaoke. the entertainment finishes at 10pm and there is not much to do after. I took a taxi to st lawrence gap and also walked down to some local bars. I found Barbados to be a beautiful, safe and enriching place (in comparison to some of the other islands) There was never a dull moment. I would stay here again and would reccomend to a friend. Overall it provides good value (by Barbados standards as everything is pricey).
3 star but really brilliant.

Nearly at the end of my 2week stay at BBC and it has been fabulous. Our room has a stunning view of the ocean towards Oistins cleaned every day by Nadine who always asked if we needed anything and if all was ok. Room was kept immaculate. Staff all through the hotel were friendly and welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. Restaurant staff always there to welcome, show you to your preferred choice of seat and the food was all good with lots of selection. Thanks to Gail, the chefs and all the staff. The hotel is closing for refurb in March 26 which will improve it's aesthetics but we found everything good. If it's shiny and new you're looking for then BBC is not going to suit you. But comfortable and friendly it fits the bill. Thank you all, we've had a great time, our second visit here.
