Excellent Location to shopping & beach access!
alabamaonthego (Birmingham, Alabama) on Feb 28, 2026
Upon arrival, we were greeted and checked in quickly. We were given an overview of the hotel layout and the hours for the amenities, but when we asked about transportation and a few other needs, the staff member was not very helpful. In the end, we Ubered back and forth to Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head Crater Trail, and the Honolulu (HNL) airport. The location was excellent and made it easy to walk to all types of shopping, from high-end stores like Prada and Gucci to local shops with Hawaiian dresses and souvenirs. Beach access was also just a couple of blocks away. The lobby includes a bar with TVs, a quick mart serving Starbucks coffee, and a full-service restaurant with a breakfast buffet (see pic). Pool and beach towels are also available nearby with your room key (see pic). The room was everything we needed. The bed was very, very comfortable with white plush linens and plenty of pillows. I would definitely recommend booking the ocean view, as it is well worth it if you have time to open the curtains and enjoy it. The balcony is part of the room (see pic) and stays sunny all afternoon until sunset. The TV gave us trouble with the screen several times, but turning it off and back on usually fixed it. The bathroom has windows that open into the room, but the blinds close easily for privacy. Our shower leaked onto the bathroom floor, so we needed extra towels. Housekeeping was very friendly and available whenever we had requests, and I especially appreciated being able to find them on the floor throughout the day. Checkout was seamless, with our bill sent by email.
Great Location

I love this hotel. The employees were all nice and the elevators are quick! We were upgraded to a premium ocean view on the 35th floor and wow what a view! The rooms are a bit small. It was ok for a couple but I wouldn’t want to bring my kids. Luckily my friends had their own room. A few things I didn’t like was the nighttime lights. The AC controller was so bright at night. It was like having a light on in the room. I couldn’t figure out how to dim it so I used a post it to cover it. The smoke alarms blink all night. The most obnoxious part is the bathroom windows into the sleeping area. If you turn a light on it shines into the sleeping area. Better pee in the dark. With all that said I would stay here again. I’d just bring an eye mask. I didn’t use the pool but it looked nice and has a bar area.
Disappointing Experience – Not a “Resort” Feel at All

I stopped by the Hilton Hotel Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa today because I was seriously considering booking a stay. I could clearly see that rooms were available (including Friends & Family rates), and as a Gold member, I expected at least a basic level of courtesy and hospitality. Instead, the experience was surprisingly unwelcoming from the start. The valet refused to take our car because we were “not guests yet” and told us to park on the street. Not exactly the first impression you’d expect from a property calling itself a resort. We then went inside to inquire about seeing a room before booking. The manager refused to show us a room, despite availability. If you’re trying to attract guests, especially loyalty members, this approach makes little sense. While in the lobby, we also noticed that the space felt outdated and not well maintained. The windows were dirty, the pillars were visibly dirty, and overall it lacked the polished feel you’d expect from a Waikiki resort property. We initially thought, “We don’t usually hang out in the lobby anyway, let’s just see a room.” But after being refused a room showing, we decided to leave. Definitely not the welcoming or elevated resort vibe we were expecting. We will be staying elsewhere.
A nice two night stay in the City.

Our room on the 35th floor was very nice and comfortable. Our ocean view was great. Another building blocked the sunset so beware of that. The bathroom is very nice but lacks some privacy with glass panels between it and bedroom. We enjoyed the lei making. The happy hour in lobby bar was just okay. It wasn't very inviting. Food was fine drinks just OK. This Hilton is at far end of all the action of Waikiki Beach but is close to a large park and the zoo. The breakfast restaurant had decent food and good service. All in all we thought it was a good value and enjoyed our 2 night stay.
One block to beach, rooms need a refresh!

Hilton was one block to beach which was nice. Rooms were old furniture (our ottoman was all torn up by what appeared to be a dog or cat), flooring was some kind of odd plastic that was not clean and your feet stick to it. Even at check out the front desk was not surprised with our response when asked "how was your stay"? Pool area was nice and great view. Staff especially the 37th floor lounge were all very nice. Not a property the Hilton family would be proud of. Was supposed to stay for 8 days moved after only 2 nights.
