Huatulco is beautiful. Resort is showing some age but still very nice and very clean. Staff is amazing! Daniel is talented and amazing for entertainment and the bartenders at the pool, Fred and Wilfredo were so fun. The pool entertainment guy was fun and engaging also!
Amazing staff

Huatulco is a hidden gem! Smaller resort with a family feel. Swim up bar had amazing service by Wilfredo, Freddy and Isaul. Entertainment with Daniel was a blast!
A week full of fun!

We loved our stay at Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa in Huatulco the last half of February 2026. From the time we arrived, the staff were friendly and helpful. The service all around the resort was consistently good. Everyone seemed genuinely nice and always ready to help. The food was also really good. There were lots of choices and everything we had was fresh and tasty and served with beautiful presentation. I am vegetarian and the menu options at the ala carte restaurants didn't have many veg options but I asked the concierge at the front desk and they gave me a copy of veg menus with options that I could pre-order for dinners (had to be ordered before noon each day I wanted to order). Once I figured that out, it was easy and had plenty of options. I do eat some seafood so sometimes went with that. The Surf & Turf dinner at Oceana was absolutely fantastic - skewers of steak and shrimp - I had "surf & surf" (just shrimp). Snorkeling over on the far left side of the beach by the rocks was fantastic and the resort provides the equipment for free. We saw so many amazing, colourful fish right off the beach kind of knee height to neck in the water. Definitely something we’d recommend doing! The kayak tour that is also complimentary was also amazing and highly recommended. The gym up at the spa has the most incredible views while working out and we heard that the massages are fantastic but we opted out as we felt they were too pricey $285 USD I think it was. The only downside was the "towel game" - lounge chairs at the pool and beach were almost impossible to get unless you go out to reserve them very early in the morning like everyone else seemed to do. We had an ocean front view rooms but all the rooms all have beautiful ocena front views so I don't think there are any bad ones. We looked at the rooms with swim out pools and the ones with hot tubs on the decks but we didn't feel it would be worth it and we're glad we didn't opt for those. No one in those rooms seemed to be using the jacuzzis or swim outs. The grounds are beautiful and the ocean views are stunning. Overall, we had a fantastic time with good food, great service, and some unforgettable snorkeling. We’d definitely go back!
It was fun but the preferred level of service was inconsistent at times.

The staff are very attentive for the most part. There seems to be a change in corporate oversight from my last visit there. The weather was hot, in the high 80s, and lots of sunshine every day. Great tanning and beach weather. ??. The complementary water activities were such fun. The staff there were outstanding. Alexandra and Alex. There was hardly any wait to enjoy dinner at their themed restaurants. The food choices were truly varied. Something for everyone. I experienced new and delicious food choices at Tamarindo, the Mexican restaurant, which reflected the local culture. What a great surprise. My preferred club room was ok. The view was amazing. The cleaning staff didn’t come through almost all days until after 4 pm. The preferred lounge needs a complete redo. The furniture seats only about 6 people and looks very tired. Having been to other Secrets and Dreams properties over many years I think this one doesn’t offer a higher level of preferred service. For example, I asked for a coffee and was told to go to the Coco cafe while the coffee machine sat there on the counter. Really? I want to thank Aury with Applevacations, German at reception and Mari Crer for making my visit more enjoyable. It will be interesting to see if any upgrades happen. One more thing…..a Canadian couple were standing in front of us at the cash register at the Rumbo Mexico shop there at the hotel. They were told that a can of spray suntan they wanted to purchase would cost them $71.00 CAD We paid $38.00 US. This was due to the rate of exchange that day. Just so you know.
