Beautiful, but room to improve
Jill B on Dec 07, 2025
Nice enough hotel, room, restaurants. We had some language barrier issues and difficulty getting dinner reservations. Surprised that there was no dinner buffet, so if you don't get in to one of the restaurants, you could be waiting until the 11pm "snack bar". There is no sports bar, despite it being listed. The concierge is a sales ploy - that was strange. We went to ask about golf and got a pressure-sell of "come to breakfast tomorrow and hear our presentation". That is not what I expect from a concierge. The beach is beautiful, pools are lovely. It was an adequate hotel, but compared to RIU, we were not impressed overall.
Perfect honeymoon

A large complex of about four hotels; we stayed at Iberostar Waves Dominicana. Beautiful hotels, great services, and a stunning sea (there were some seaweeds in the water, but it didn’t really bother us). Two pools and plenty of sunbeds, so even when we arrived later at the pool, we could always find free ones either in the sun or in the shade.
Amazing Iberostar Wave Dominicana family vacation.

We spend beautiful 7 days of family vacation at Iberostar Wave Dominicana. Iberostar Wave Dominicana located by the beautiful beachside of the ocean. The facility well maintained and secured, lifeguards by the pool and beach always present. I would like to say big "Thank you" to our concierge Bella for positive attitude and willingness to help! Bella, keeps you smile all the time ?? Great, friendly resort atmosphere. Staff trying their best ro have guests entertained by providing daily activities, such as, pool exercises, fun and fit at the beach exercises, some competitive games, dance lessons, and evening entertainment as well. Room there we stayed is clean, enough supplies with air-conditioning. The vacation price slightly overrated bug keep in mind that everything get priced nowadays...The resort all-inclusive and this is what you paid for. I could say that noise level at the resort based on activities that is going on at the certain time. The music played through out the day by the pool and in the back ground at the restaurants. Food at the restaurants decent varieties and you always have something to choose from. The little thing that wasn't pleasant, we went to La Marimba restaurant and had to wait almost 45 minutes to be served, no order was taken, just small appetizer given...Therefore, we had to leave and to go to buffet restaurant for dinner. I don't speak Spanish and cannot get attention of waitresses as quickly as others do! Despite this little incident, our stay overall was marvelous and fun. Great weather, lots of sun with brief episodes of runs but it didn't changed my mind to choose this destination once again. Thank you Iberostar Wave Dominicana and we will return??
The same resort experience that we had while visiting 15 years ago - the resort needs updates
Eugene_Vit (New York City, New York) on Nov 18, 2025
We had an overall positive experience while visiting this resort, mostly because of the large group of family/friends traveling with us. There are not many activities throughout the day unless you are a fan of Bingo or beach volleyball. You have to do most of the day planning yourself. There were almost no activities at the pool during the day and only some afternoon activities at the beach. The customer service is very good at this place. Employees in this resort make you feel welcomed and are always ready to help with your needs. Leaving a small tip for the hardworking folks goes a long way here. The rooms are clean but slightly outdated. They haven't been updated in at least 12-15 years. All rooms are still using magnetic room key cards that constantly stop working. Almost daily we had to go back to the lobby to re-activate the keys. In addition, the food choices are very limited, and one should not expect an amazing culinary experience while visiting any specialty restaurants in the resort. We were looking for "typical" local food, and it was not readily available. Depending on the day and weather, you may end up with a lot of seaweed on the beach. During the first six days of our vacation, there was no seaweed on the beach. However, in the last two days, there was plenty of seaweed. I guess it depends on the wind and how active the ocean is. Positives • Exceptional Customer Service: Employees are welcoming, helpful, and attentive to guest needs. • Cleanliness: The rooms are well-maintained and clean. • Group Experience: The resort serves as a good base, especially when traveling with a large group of family/friends. Negatives • Limited Activities: Very few scheduled activities throughout the day (especially at the pool). Guests must plan their own daytime entertainment. • Outdated Rooms & Technology: Rooms are visibly dated (estimated 12-15 years without updates). • Constant Key Card Issues: Magnetic key cards frequently stop working, requiring almost daily trips to the lobby for reactivation. • Limited Food Selection: Food choices are restricted, and the specialty restaurants do not offer a high-quality culinary experience. • Lack of Local Cuisine: Authentic, typical local food was not readily available. • Inconsistent Beach Conditions: The amount of seaweed on the beach is highly variable, depending on weather and ocean activity.
DO NOT PURCHASE IBEROSTAR GIFTCARDS

** Do Not purchase Iberostar Gift Cards*** One incident wrecked a good week at Iberostar Waves Dominicana. We were gifted Iberostar gift cards as a gift. I had asked during the week how to use it and after asking many staff how to use them, I was assured by a manager (Luis), who looked into them that all we would need to do is charge the services to our room and upon check out, the credits from our gift card would be used to cover the charges. When the time to check out came, the person who attended us (Wagner) did not know how to do the transaction and wouldn’t let us leave until we paid the outstanding balance. Long story short, I had to go to an ATM to withdraw money, was charged over $16 service fee to pay. Their system wouldn’t accept my credit card. Through the whole process, even though I was frustrated, I was never rude to the attendant but he still called security on us. All we were trying to do is use was a service that was purchased from Iberostar. If Iberostar is not willing to train their staff on how to use the gift cards, they should not be selling them. This whole incident left a bad taste and we Will not be vacationing at an Iberostar again.
