Beautiful Resort, Disappointing Service
Lydia M on Jul 12, 2026
We recently stayed at Iberostar Waves Dominican for 5 days and 4 nights. The resort itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and gorgeous swimming pools that were always clean and inviting. The beach was nice, although there was quite a bit of seaweed during our stay, which made it less enjoyable. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the customer service. Out of our entire stay, we only encountered about three staff members who were genuinely polite and welcoming. Service at the restaurants was consistently poor, and we often felt overlooked. We can’t say for certain why, but at times it seemed like we were treated differently than other guests, and that left us wondering whether our appearance or ethnicity played a role. Regardless of the reason, we did not feel valued as guests. Overall, the resort has beautiful facilities and excellent pools, but the lack of consistently friendly and attentive service significantly affected our experience. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and works to improve the level of hospitality for everyone.

Hotel at all is wonderful, atmosphere and location is good as well as rooms , BUT …. Staff is not speaking almost in english , some of them not even trying at all, they ask me to use my voice translator in result which i think is not acceptable in case here works young people… Worst is even so called “guest service” also is lacking of english knowledge. We wanted to order birthday package, guy there sell it to us like it will be some incredible service. In result reality was FAAAAAR FAR away from what he “sold” to us. It should be surprise but waiter came to table and directly said, “cake is coming any moment”. They should sing happy birthday song in result they start to play on instruments next to us like 10 min before even come to us and so something, basically they train it in front of us , so surprise wasn't surprising at all. Decoration was lacking as well. In result the guy who sold it to us marked it or calculated it as “romantic dinner” and prices where x4 almost and all of this we should solve with people who dont speak even english, total nightmare. And this must be 5 start service ? Music i dont want even to comment … too loud .. which remind me how they start to sing and drum on breakfast … half hour total mess, total… on breakfast ?! People just woke up and you drum around in all restaurant??!
Unfriendly staff, poor service

This was our first time and last time staying at an Iberostar. Staff were consistently rude and service was poor. Especially at the restaurants and the bar closest to the beach. I’ve stayed at other all inclusives and NEVER experience this at any other resorts. Rooms were clean, kudos to housekeeping! And the front desk staff was nice. The MJ show was great. I generally don’t leave reviews but wanted to share, as to spare others the eye rolling you receive when asking for just about anything (drinks, silverware, a water glass). If looking at an all inclusive I highly recommend RIUs!! Iberostar should focus on training in hospitality and customer service.
