Ok, could be so much better

cyfugi on Feb 07, 2026

Stayed here for 11 nights in Jan, it as just ok nothing that massively affected our holiday but could be so much better. Experienced maintenance issues with bedroom which was resolved but had to waste half a day either chasing it or waiting. Food was ok, even in themed restaurants. You won’t starve but food lacked quality and consistency. In general service was good (especially from Ana in buffet for breakfast and lunch) but some staff were very rude. Pool restaurant and toilets very poor, need lots more staff on to offer any kind of cleanliness. The pool looked nice but after a few days stopped using it as I was concerned with all the debris and bits floating in the water as it just appeared dirty. Beach seaweed build up was really high the first few days but this was cleared eventually and maintained until we left. Can’t say we had a bad holiday but would not rush back - sad as could be so much better as it has the makings of being a great resort :(

Great food at Rodizio!

Chanelle T on Feb 06, 2026

Wow—what a fantastic meal at the Rodizio restaurant! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Anderson and Wanda looked after us brilliantly; nothing was too much trouble for them. We would definitely book again. Absolutely superb!

Unforgettable and fantastic vacation

jdenby2016 (Norwich, United Kingdom) on Feb 05, 2026

Ok... so where do I start, Just got back from Grand Sirenis Punta Cana, and felt I needed to give an honest unbiased review, after reading the recent review from C Matt of New Jersey. I can only assume he and his family were staying at a different resort to us, as I can not agree with hardly anything he has said. Before we went we also read previous reviews on this resort, which were quite mixed, so we went with an open mind but can say we were not disappointed. First the food experience, Grand Sirenis has two buffet restaurants, both of which were similar but we favoured Samoa of the two. The food may not have been as warm as necessary, but there was plenty of options for most nationalities, the labelling of food was sporadic, but easily identified. You will never go hungry, but dishes did run out, it all depended upon what time you arrived at the buffet, cutlery and crockery on the tables was also hit and miss, but all you had to do was ask, and it was brought to you. We didn't eat here in the evenings, as we wanted to try all the speciality restaurants available, and prefer waiter service in the evenings. Ikebana (Japanese) This was by far our favourite restaurant, with the food cooked in front of you, a fun experience with a great atmosphere. Route 66: (American diner) OK if you don't mind fast food but not for us Barcas (Mediteranean) Unfortunately the service here was very poor, so can't comment positively Brazilian: Went twice here as the food was great, and you 'can' have as much as you want, you just have to ASK Italian: Also went twice here as the atmosphere was relaxed, and the food very good. Tex Mex: Best steak I had all holiday, must have been 12oz, and you could have had larger. French: Again a nice meal in a relaxed atmosphere. In summary of all the restaurants, if you are looking for 5 star food, don't go to the Carribean, as they can only work with what is available. The buildings are not old or in need of repair, some things may be a bit tired, but it doesn't affect your stay, our room in block 22 was perfectly acceptable, cleaned daily, and when we had a problem with our WC on the first day, it was fixed within the hour. The only down side was our shower did take a lot time to drain away, so you had to jump out quick and close the door, so as not to flood the bathroom. All the drinks we had at various bars throughout the resort were not 'alcohol poor', all alcohol served was Premium brands, and not local brands as is often the case in all inclusive resorts. We can recommend the cocktails, but beware, they carry a punch that you are not aware of whilst drinking them. Tipping was not essential to receive a better drink, we found politeness to staff worked just as well if not better. The best bars in our opinion were the Beach bar and the top lobby bar, and a special thanks goes to Daniel at the beach bar, who mixes the best Rum punch going, just make sure you are not doing much after, as you need to sit for a while. Although the resort is predominantly South American and Spanish spoken, you do not need to speak Spanish to communicate with the staff, as everyone spoke English, admittedly some better than others, but their English was a hell of a lot better than my Spanish, so who am I to complain about this, we are in their country. We found all staff (contrary to some previous reviews) to be friendly and helpful right down to the gardeners, but again I suppose it reflects on how you treat them as to how they treat you!! The activity programme offered plenty to do throughout the day if you chose to participate, we didn't as it was a chill out holiday for us, but there was always something going on. The hotels pool was split into three sections so if you didn't want the afternoon DJ and games, you simply moved to a quieter area of the pool, again not a problem. In our opinion, the entertainment in the evenings, was the best we have had in a Caribbean hotel, ok so its not West End productions, but then they are not getting paid West End wages, and the entertainments manager (sorry I forgot his name) needs a special mention, as he works so hard to keep everything together, and still be uplifting and so full of energy all the time. We were told he works 12 days on and 3 days off, and believe me he probably needs them after what he does all day and night. On the odd occasion it rained, outdoor entertainment was rescheduled to indoor areas, sometimes at short notice, so as not to disrupt the schedule, and sometimes this worked better than the original location (like dancing in the hotel lobby - great fun). The Concierges book all the A La Carte restaurant reservations for you, it is not through the App as mentioned in previous write ups, they are also there to assist you, but yes, they are also there to make you spend your money. If you choose to do this, its your decision, they are just doing the job they have been paid to do. Yes smoking is not discouraged, but it is not allowed in any restaurants, theatre or inside areas of the hotel. The water park is not the largest we have been to, but you have to remember its part of the hotel, not a park where you would normally pay extra to enter, and its suitable for all family members. My wife and I are both in our 60's and we both rode the supposed dangerous mat slide more than once, and we are both still alive and without injury, as are the numerous people we watched riding it all day on two separate occasions ?? The life guards were attentive at all times, as I found out when I had a dramatic end to one of water chutes, I went in a bit quick and disappeared under the water, the lifeguard was in the water and pulled me up before I knew what was happening, so thanks to him and definitely no complaints there. Yes the food was a bit more basic in the park, and alcohol was not served here, but we felt this was necessary for safety reasons, and yes there were birds about - but isn't that nature?? The beach is lovely with golden sand, the surf can be a bit fierce with undercurrents dependent on the wind, but again life guards are stationed on the beach, and did on occasion stop people swimming due to the current. The beach is cleared daily of the 'Cursed seaweed' so again don't think it will be a problem...it isn't. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and although we had one or two grumbles, complaints were not justified. If you are looking for 5 star excellence, don't go to a reasonably priced Caribbean Resort, you wouldn't expect it at home in your own country so don't expect it here !! We would recommend this resort to couples or families, but be warned, there are not a lot of UK holiday makers here as it is mainly South Americans, and Canadians, obviously this isn't a problem unless you want to complain about the foreigners being too foreign!!!!

Smell of mould in the room

Trail46358428536 on Feb 04, 2026

There is no arguing that the location, beach, and pool are wonderful. The atmosphere is decent as is the value. However there was the smell of mold in our room. Although the space looked clean, the smell was off-putting. Moreover, the light switches worked intermittently and one light I turned on and off by screwing the lightbulb in or out. There were a few other broken things in the room, but these were the most inconvenient. I don’t think I’ll be staying here next time.
