Allegro Cozumel: a nice beach with a warm welcome.

Apicius-Gavius (Montreal, Canada) on Jan 17, 2026

Super stay: room & amenities suitable. Loved the beach and the palms shade. Beach service by Itzel Varela was efficient by a smiling person. Drinks come fast and has ordered! Room maid did a great job! Clean & tidy. Little attentions with folded towels and flowers. Buffet food choices a bit desappointing: Hot meals & vegetables not up to standard...Overall: a nice resort away from the crowded places

AJ's Review

Over all the resort is clean and nice. The Spots bar staff weren't friendly. Quality of food changed day to day. Bar(s) ran out of a couple items during the first couple days. Beach / pool area is nice.

Full resort review -average at best - Don't be fooled by the "entertainment staff ONLY' reviews

Tania L (Waterloo, Canada) on Jan 16, 2026

Overview We stayed at this resort January 17-24, and I would call it "average" at best. Having stayed at numerous resorts in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Panama, and Mexico, I would rank this as one of my least favorite – and that includes several resorts in Cuba. If you don't have high expectations, you'll be fine, but be prepared for "just okay." I have stayed at other Barceló, Allegro, and Occidental properties and have had great experiences, so it's not the chain that is the problem. Important note: You'll see many 5-star reviews based on entertainment staff. While I agree they're good (Milly and Arby are lovely people), these reviews are often completed because the entertainment staff will sit at your chair and persistently ask until you write one. I told them I'd write a comprehensive review once I got home. I never met Diego, but apparently many reviewers like him. It would be nice if the people writing those reviews would rate the entire resort so as not to skew the real "star rating" of this resort. Rooms & Accommodations We traveled as a group of 10 (friends and family) and booked in June 2024. Despite numerous conversations with the resort prior to arrival and very specific requests due to medical needs (e.g., ground floor due to a previous hip replacement), not one accommodation was honored. Staff and management simply said, "Nothing we can do." If you have any special needs, don't expect them to be met. We were placed on the upper level with a thatched roof, which allowed lizards to enter our room and birds to nest in the screened ceiling (an unexpected wake-up call!). These were by far the smallest rooms I've encountered in all my travels. There was no dresser for unpacking, nor adequate space for suitcases. We ended up placing one on a small side table and the other on the floor, doing our best to separate clean and dirty clothes. It made for an awkward experience. Food & Drinks Very inconsistent. Some days were good; other days were just okay. We didn't starve, but we never left the buffet thinking, "Wow, that was a great meal." We managed to secure a reservation at the Oriental restaurant (thanks to a friend in the Premium section), though not all at the same time. That restaurant was AMAZING. Drinks were decent but lacked consistency. For example, Canadian Club was available the first day but was never seen again the rest of the week. Standout staff member: Danna (pronounced Donna) handles poolside service and is an AMAZING young lady. She looked after us well, had great conversations with us, recommended drinks to try, and always had a smile on her face. The other young lady who does the beach service was just as lovely; however, I cannot recall her name. Then there are the lobby bartenders – well, shoot me down for inconveniencing you by asking for a drink. And yes, we tipped consistently. As Canadians, I feel like we over-tip. This didn't help the experience. Note: There's no option for staff-made specialty coffee. If you enjoy a cappuccino or latte as a nightcap, it's NOT available. The best you'll get is a corner store-style coffee machine where you select cappuccino or mochaccino, and it brews into a paper cup. Beach: Very nice with a great view. There are always boats to watch, and the wildlife around the pier is excellent – we saw stingrays and numerous fish species. My dad and stepmom snorkeled right out front several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. At the end of the day, did we survive the resort and all its quirks? YES! Will we return? Absolutely NOT. I actually fear that this resort has turned me off Cozumel altogether.

Great family vacation where lots of awesome memories made!

Nita S (Schaumburg, Illinois) on Jan 15, 2026

Wonderful resort with excellent service, plenty of activities and great people. Diego is great. Very engaging and puts on great activities!! The activity pool is the place to be and Arbi is also really fun. The guitarist and sports bar was a great place to meet others. And last but not least was the beach!!! Absolutely amazing. Other reviews talk about the food but that’s not unusual with inclusive resorts. We found something the eat every meal that was really good!
