If you want to experience average or above average service, please stay at a different resort. We are in the Sun Club, the room needs updated, but otherwise it is great. The door would not close without being slammed, wifi doesn't work in our room and the AC cannot keep up with the heat. I reported these issues to the VIP concierge on our first day. These may seem minor, but wifi access is mandatory for reservation or information at the resort. A QR code is used for everything. We were told to visit the lobby to have better access to the wifi, now mind you, in the lobby there are 3 to 4 concierge sitting there along with someone in the VIP lounge. They claim that all info concerning restaurants opened or closed or entertainment is available via QR. If you tell them that the page will not load even in the lobby, they will not look up the info for you, they insist that you use the web page, even if it won't load. Very frustrating. As for the door that would not close without slamming, I had to complain at least 2 days before it was fixed. The food in the restaurants is ok, but until yesterday, day 5 of our trip, the only hot meal we had was the Japanese hibachi meal. There are 4 bars and some wine in the VIP lounge, 2 bars are supposed to hv high end alcohol for the Sun Club. One of those bars in the small bar in the sun club area, the bartender is a very nice lady, this bar closes around 5. The other bar is the Roundevous bar in the lobby, it closes before the entertainment ends for the evening. So having access to high end liquor is not always available. Last night the bartender for this bar disappeared for at least 15 minutes, leaving only 1 bar available for the entire resort. Our reservation included a free bottle of Liquor for our room. Monday when we checked, we forgot to mention this. I returned to the VIP lounge within 15 minutes to ask about the liquor and was told that since I did not mention it on check-in we would receive it the next day. I did argue with him that it had only been 15 minutes so his statement was ridiculous, he then stated that he did not have it in stock for us and that it would be in our room the next day. Oh and yeah, this is the same person I reported the door, wifi and AC to. Late afternoon the next day we still did not have our liquor I returned to the VIP lounge to ask about it only to learn that none of our issues had been reported. I have contacted Hyatt concerning all of this, they said they would contact management, but I have not heard from them. There is a Hyatt representative on the resort today and I have talked to him. He said they are receiving a large number of complaints. As I said beautiful view bad service. The waitstaff in the restaurants do the best they can, with limited help. There is no apparent management.
Better than expected

Sunscape is a great option for an all inclusive vacation on a budget. I was a bit nervous due to some reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The property is dated but I found it clean and the grounds are well kept. If you can spring for the honeymoon suite it's worth the view. We were on the first floor so we were pretty much on the beach. The AC and shower worked great and the room was clean. We used this as our home base while we explored the island and visited various landmarks and beaches. The snorkeling at Sunscape was actually the best out of them all. The food options were a bit limited for a picky eater such as myself but I always found something to eat. Oceana for breakfast (Sun Club) was my favorite and Blue Water Grill was my favorite for lunch and dinner. My only complaint is that the room service was never available, and that's supposed to be part of the sun club perks we paid extra for.

No room service unless you are VIP. We were placed in a VIP building (the last and furthest from the main hotel) but had to go to the main hotel area to get coffee, food, and amenities. Food service at the buffet was hit or miss depending on who had your table for drinks & cutlrey. Sometimes they ran out of clean forks & cups. The food was ok but not great and the resturants fulled up quickly so the buffet was busy but stocked. Staff at the bar were super attentive though.
ESCAPE FROM THIS HOTEL

Horrible experience The room is not cleaned. if you call housekeeping, they literally do nothing. Once they did the bedroom, they just threw the quilt on top of it. If you request a sheet change, they will not do it. I had to call several times to reception to get the room cleaned up (they cleaned it at 7.30 PM, with us having 2 little kids waiting outside while raining). Pedro, the manager, should be fired on the spot. He lost control of the whole hotel. People were not able to eat (lines of up to 1 hour in the buffet), and he decided to close two of the a la carte restaurants. At the Italian restaurant, the ACs didn't work; it was like eating in a sauna. Not only that, but to prepare a dish of pasta, they took 1 hour and 20 minutes. Calling reception and the concierge is useless; no one answers the phone, and if you go up to the front desk, there is a line of people waiting to complain. If you go to the buffet, there are days that literally there is no food (except from some weird stews), no one gives you even a fork and a knife to eat, not to mention that if you want a glass and water, stand up and go to the outside bar to get it (no one will give you one). WORST ALL INCLUSIVE I'VE EVER BEEN TO
Yes, there are some issues. But the positives, including the best beach in the Caribbean, far outweigh the negatives

I was spooked by some of the harsh reviews here in the days and weeks leading up to my stay at Sunscape Curacao Resort. While there were some legitimate issues that need to be addressed (some of which I was told are already being addressed), none of them stood in the way of my wife and I having an amazing vacation. So for those feeling the same concerns we did leading up to our visit, here is some intel to help ease your mind and help you prepare to negotiate some of the challenges that do exist. First, the pros: The beach area is among the very best – if not the best – in the Caribbean. The water is clear and calm, thanks to the breakers that help create a lagoon-like setting. The white sand is clean and there are ample beach chairs and shade tikis. The pool was on the small side, but it was also clean and refreshing with a nice well-stocked swim-up bar. The staff is AMAZING. Everyone we encountered, from the bartenders to the servers, to housekeeping, the woman at the excursion desk and the entertainment staff – especially the ever-present “Crazy G” – was helpful, friendly and professional. While the room was definitely in need of updating, as others have noted, it was clean, well-stocked and in good repair. The nightly entertainment was also great, especially the Thursday night Carnival parade and celebration. As for the food, a lot will depend on your tastes and expectations. We found the buffet, which features typical resort fare, to be just so-so. But the specialty restaurants are all above average. Now the cons: The complaints about the air conditioning in the rooms are real. While the AC in our room worked, it didn’t work well. My suggestion is to turn the thermostat down as low as it will go, keep the curtains shut while you’re not in the room and bring a portable fan with you just in case. Our biggest problem with our room was its location. We were on the back side of the Royal Tower, directly adjacent to a dance club. On at least two of the nights we were there (Wednesday and Saturday, if I recall correctly), the music and a loud DJ blasted until at least 2 AM, making it difficult to get much sleep. The other major issue we encountered was the wait times at the specialty restaurants. The Italian restaurant wasn’t so bad, but because the Bluewater Grill (our favorite) is so small and because seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, be prepared for a lengthy wait in line to get a table. Recommendations: Above all, if you’re assigned a room in the Royal Tower, request a room on the pool/garden side rather than the backside to avoid the racket from the dance club across the estuary. Either that or bring some noise-reducing headphones. … Make sure to get in line at the Bluewater Grill as early as possible to avoid the main dinner rush. Or wait until later in the evening to eat. Otherwise, grab a blue lagoon from the bar and be patient, because you could be standing in line for an hour. Once you're seated, don't limit yourself to the printed menu. Scan the QR code for the daily menu with any specials that might be available. Also, if you’re planning to do only one excursion, make sure it’s the day trip to Klein Curacao. It’s worth the time and money. Just make sure to avoid eating a big breakfast, because the boat trip there can be choppy and some of those on our trip got seasick. Otherwise come with patience, an open mind and be ready to relax on the best beach in the Caribbean. While there might be an inconvenience or two, there are far more positives than negatives. Don’t let them get in the way of having a good time. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sunscape Curacao and plan to come back again in the future.
