Christmas 2025 in Curacao
Dawna01292018 (Saskatoon, Canada) on Jan 10, 2026
Great experience because it was a two-week three-generation family vacation over Christmas. I'm very glad we upgraded to the SUN CLUB level, because I think the perks were what made the trip and hotel experience good, especially the private pool and beach area. Staff, for the most part, were helpful and usually knew some English, which was great. The "star of the show" however, was our housekeeper DERLYN - who greeted us everyday with a huge smile. She was extremely friendly, and we couldn't have been happier with her work, leaving our room spotless everyday while being very efficient and quick in turnaround time. Food experiences were ok, for the most part - al la carte restaurants had a good selection of food, and all that we tried was very good. However, the buffet restaurant had one of the smallest selections of food dishes that I've every experienced in a Caribbean all-inclusive hotel. By the end of week one, the adults we were totally over it, however it did provide enough of a selection for our 5 and 8 year olds. SUN CLUB Room Service - well it might as well not have existed. No one got what they ordered; no notifications of things not available on any given day; and the longest wait time (from 1.5 hours to 3 hours, if you got it at all) to get our food. Hotel location was a fairly short drive from the airport; and the hotel itself was located on a beautiful beach. Rock wall/break out in the ocean really helped with the size of the waves on the beach, making it quite safe to walk. The hotel itself and rooms are a bit dated, however I would take cleanliness over the most modern furnishings any day. No "critters" in the rooms; walkways, grounds and gardens clean and well-maintained. Would probably try out another hotel, if and when we go back to Curacao.
Sunscape Curaçao – January Stay Review

We stayed at Sunscape Curaçao the first week of January for five nights and booked a Premium Deluxe Oceanfront room with Sun Club access. The Room We were placed in the Royal Tower on the 2nd floor. Our room had a large semi wrap-around balcony with beautiful ocean views. The room itself was spacious but not fancy or luxurious — more basic and functional. It felt like there was almost too much open space, like it was missing a table or some furniture to make it feel complete. The TV was a large smart TV with cable and Netflix access. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows, and the AC worked perfectly the entire stay. The bathroom layout was a little odd. The toilet and shower were in a small enclosed bathroom, while the double sinks were outside in the main room. Being in the front of the Royal Tower gave us front-row seats to the nightly beach parties and fire shows, which was fun — but it also meant loud music from both Sunscape and the neighboring resort late into the night. After an 18-hour travel day, that first night was rough if you’re someone who likes to go to bed early. Also, our room was far from the Sun Club amenities. The Sun Club beach, pool, bar, and lounge were all on the opposite end of the resort. ? The Beach The beach is easily the highlight of this resort — the best beach we’ve ever visited. The water is crystal-clear blue and absolutely beautiful. Some areas are rockier than others, but if you ease in slowly it’s not bad at all. We initially thought the rocks were a beach issue, but after visiting several beaches around the island, we learned that this is normal due to Curaçao’s volcanic formation. In fact, this beach had fewer rocks than most of the others we visited. Snorkeling here is excellent. Tons of fish — schools of yellow goatfish, sergeant majors, parrotfish, blue tangs, and more. Most of the fish are out near the rocky surf breaks about 200 feet offshore. ? The Resort The resort itself feels dated, but not terrible. The food was nothing special. We ate the dinner buffet the first night and it wasn’t very good, so we never ate dinner there again. Breakfast was decent — we went to the buffet every morning and got omelets made fresh. We also tried breakfast at the Sun Club Blue Water Grill, but it had basically the same food as the buffet and took longer. The bars were fine, and the entertainment team was excellent — very outgoing, energetic, and friendly. However, the biggest weakness of this resort is the overall staff consistency. While a handful of employees were truly great, many others across the resort felt disengaged, poorly trained, or simply uninterested in providing good service. Several staff members seemed annoyed when asked basic questions, slow to respond to requests, or unsure how to handle simple tasks. Service at bars and restaurants was hit or miss — sometimes friendly and helpful, other times it felt like employees were just going through the motions. We experienced long waits for drinks even when bars weren’t busy, incorrect drink orders, and confusion over Sun Club access despite having the proper room category. At times, it felt like staff didn’t communicate well with each other or weren’t properly informed about resort policies. The most frustrating example was on our last day when the batteries in our door lock died and we were locked out of our room right before checkout. We called for maintenance and were told someone was on the way. It ended up taking a full hour before anyone showed up. There was no apology, no urgency, and no follow-up. It didn’t feel like the employees were intentionally rude — it felt like a management problem. Poor training, lack of accountability, and no sense of urgency were noticeable across multiple departments. With better leadership, this could easily be a top-tier resort because the location and beach are already incredible. Another downside: if you miss dinner, you’re out of luck. There’s no room service after the restaurants close, no deli or snack bar, no late-night food options — not even an easy place to grab water. The resort is basically shut down by 11 PM. ? Sun Club Sun Club was nice overall. Check-in is in a private, air-conditioned Sun Club lounge, unlike the regular check-in area. You get access to top-shelf drinks (like Patron margaritas), the Blue Water Grill for breakfast and lunch, the Sun Club beach, pool, and bar. The Sun Club beach is far less crowded and you can always find a chair. Same with the pool — never an issue getting a lounger. The Sun Club bar is also much quieter than the main bars. Some people say Sun Club isn’t worth it because it’s not enforced, but in our experience it was. Staff often asked if we were Sun Club and sometimes asked to see our key card. The beach even has a small fence separating Sun Club from non-Sun Club. My recommendation for management: switch to Sun Club wristbands like higher-end resorts use. It would make things easier for staff and guests instead of carrying key cards everywhere. ? Final Thoughts Sunscape Curaçao has an absolutely incredible beach — truly world-class. The snorkeling alone makes this resort worth considering. However, the resort itself is dated, the food is average at best, and service consistency needs major improvement. With better management, training, and late-night food options, this resort could easily be one of the best on the island. Best for: Beach lovers, snorkelers, and travelers who prioritize ocean views over luxury. Not ideal for: Foodies, night owls, or anyone expecting a high-end all-inclusive experience.
Sunscape Curacao - True Paradise

The experience of a lifetime. Sunscape Curacao is a dream come true. Best snorkeling, wonderful food, kind and loving staff, and entertainment that put huge smile on your face. It is a home away from home. Not flashy or snazzy but heart felt, loving and a feel of home. The staff are so friendly, attentive, and ensuring that your needs and wants are met. The management team sets an atmosphere that creates wonderful memories. Danielle, Naz, Richard and Vaneisa are what all organization seeks. They cater to happiness, joy and love. The food is basic, like home. Choices are a plenty. The drinks are what you desire, from juice to upper shelf alcohol. The snorkeling, what can I say. The Best. The beach is paradise. The entertainment, The put huge smiles on your face. I have recommended Sunscape Curacao to many and they have gone and agreed with me. The staff from Anna at the Buffet, Yvonne getting me my morning coffee, the front counter staff and concierge are A1. The Japanese restaurant staff go beyond what is expected. I can go on and on. It is home to us. The people, the atmosphere, the heart and love all went beyond what we anticipated. We are going back again and again and again
Great space for families with young kids

Great beach, many pools to choose from. Pools not heated though, so water was very cold. The rooms were clean and ample size for my family of 4. Hot water in shower was not very hot. Specialty restaurants were delicious, the wait time for seating at the Italian restaurant was way too long. Drinks at the bar were always delicious. Hot dogs, popcorn and cookies at the cafe was a win with the kids. Also, daily ice cream was the highlight of each day. Loved the nightly entertainment too. Kids club painting activity was a fantastic idea. Will definitely stay again. Affordable all-inclusive with easy access to the Sea Aquarium next door.
A motel is better than this place, stay away.

Horrible hotel, your installations and a poor cheap motel are the same. The rooms are damaged and updated. Licking bathroom, sliding doors doesn’t close. Mosquitos get in. Sun club name ReBECCA is Racist…. She doesn’t like Spanish people. She was assisting me and because a Russian couple walk she didn’t excuse herself and went to speak with them and let me waiting for 15 minutes… The only god thing you have is the lady for the bar at the sun club private pool and the cleaner at my room. Plus I pay for a deluxe ocean view and gave me a regular old room full of with nothing working on it…. No one stay in room 7121 Thai place is a scam and racist. They didn’t even care I was paying for their more expensive room and sent me with my 2 kids .. 3 years old and 8 years old to the worst room.. saying they don’t have no more availability .
