impersonal and ill-maintained

The standard of what makes a four-star hotel in Niagara Falls seems quite a low bar! The best that can be said of this hotel is that its rooms are large, it’s close to the falls, and there’s a Tim Horton’s just across Stanley Avenue for breakfast. However, the service is impersonal and the facilities ill-maintained. This low level of service, whilst perhaps acceptable to tourist hordes, is not what I expect from the Hilton brand. The reception desk hasn’t space for enough staff to manage check-in at all quickly or efficiently; the queue is lengthy. When we arrived the room had been supplied with coffee, but only decaffeinated. The safe was locked and therefore unusable by us. At 6am when I shower, on both mornings there was no hot water. The shower pan leaks onto the bathroom floor. The fridge is effectively a freezer.
Sealed window…

We spent two days here in August 2024 when visiting the falls. The room was a disappointment with the window sealed and no natural light. We had been told previously it was not a falls view room but didn’t expect a room with no natural light at all. To be fair on arrival they were able to offer us a room upgrade at no extra charge but without the bed configuration we had specifically requested. We took breakfast the first morning (arriving late the night before) to get out first view of the falls. It is an impressive view from the restaurant. The breakfast itself was sadly not as impressive as the falls view and strangely was not buffet style but all individually priced. Still we did see the falls for the first time! Next day we ate out most of the time given high cost at Hilton. Overall was a reasonable stay.
