Westjet vacation to Waikiki and Outrigger Paradise hotel

JustHowBadWasIt (Edmonton, Canada) on Jan 30, 2025

This was a Westjet vacation package for a couple, which was easy to book and we went mid-January to take advantage of reasonable pricing. l believe a week or two later the price increased about $2000 which would have been too expensive given the cost of things in Waikiki. Generally, living costs such as food was very expensive compared to Canadian costs, about double or more. We probably spent around $125 usd per day on food and drinks, avoiding restaurants and eating snacks from the ABC shops. The Outrigger paradise hotel is close to the beach and conveniently located in Waikiki for the beach and international shopping mall, plus various places for food and drink. The hotel was fine but had no restaurants, our room was okay but the biggest drawback was the shower (l added a photo attached), l’m quite a large man and could barely fit in the shower, its the smallest shower l’ve every tried to get in, like trying to shower in a filing cabinet. The pool is small but well maintained, the hotel staff clean the area regularly, best go there early afternoon as it can get crowded quickly. At the pool you can borrow towels that they don’t mind you taking to the beach. Also, you can use the hotels suncream. We were on the 10th floor, there are no ocean views, just over carparks. When we left we were hit with daily tourist charges of about $50 usd per day, which we knew were coming but l didn’t expect that much! This then became quite an expensive vacation for one full week, we probably won’t be coming back to Hawaii for a good few years. We did book a coach trip which was a full day around 20 or so places around the lsland. The booking guy was down on the street close to the beach; Chuck, a bit of a character. It was $99 a head which l thought was good value, seeing that others charge nearly double that. I’ve been to Waikiki several times, but not for the last several years. Quite a lot had changed, more food outlets, more shops, beach area about the same but dirtier. It was far more noisier than l remember it, at least double the traffic. Which, btw, everywhere on Honolulu was nose to tail traffic if you were thinking of hiring a car.

Very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Hotel is located close to Waikiki beach, it is quiet, near shopping and restaurants. Front desk, housekeeping and valet staff all were fantastic and accommodating. The facilities were clean and well kept.

The Outrigger Waikiki Paradise Hotel made my first visit to Hawaii an extremely enjoyable experience.

Debra H on Jan 24, 2025

The Outrigger was newly renovated. The restaurant wasn’t completed at the time we booked but there are a lot of choices located nearby. The pool area was enjoyable. The hotel is located within walking distance of Waikiki beach. There are many other activities close by to enjoy during the day as well as the evening. This was also a very affordable choice. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The Jewel of Waikiki!

Michele N (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Jan 20, 2025

I hosted an in-person meeting last night for 55 coaches at the Outrigger Paradise Hotel. I travel about 80,000 miles a year for my job and know first hand what good (and bad - LOL) service looks like, and let me tell you - the team over at Outrigger Waikiki Paradise Hotel knocked it out of the park! The renovations to the former Outrigger East hotel are gorgeous and the meeting space was perfect for our group. The best part for me was the PEOPLE. The entire staff was attentive, friendly and thoughtful and they all went out of their way to make us feel at home. Ricol, Joseph, Melissa, Denise and GM Kiana Beimes are some of the best people in the business and they took care of every detail to ensure our event met my expectations. They showed me that locals CAN do business in Waikiki and I am now reserving 3 more meeting dates today! Give them a try! They will not disappoint!
