Get a fountain view room

refcon (Winter Park, Florida) on Jul 20, 2024

This a very large hotel & casino. The rooms are nice but getting a little worn out & could use an update soon. Get a fountain view definitely worth it overlooking the strip and the Bellagio water fountain show. There are many dining options on site too.

The wraparound terrace is everything!!!

486tiffanye (Evansville, Indiana) on Jul 19, 2024

Obviously, it's a nice hotel known for its amazing views of the fountain. If you are a "marriott person" they don't care. You can go to the autograph lounge and get free coffee but that's about it. I've had to ask twice for my folio from my stay and I've still not gotten credit for the 3 expensive nights I had at the wraparound terrace.

Overpriced & Disappointing

kpepper1177 (Connecticut) on Jul 18, 2024

The good - . Joseph at the front desk was wonderful. Tony - security was also wonderful. Housekeeping is great. Very clean, polite and helpful. Other than that, I don’t get why people like this place. Check on was odd where all the front desk agents have to call a ‘manager’ in the back to check on your room. The room was normal with some wear and tear. Peeling wall paper. Stains on balcony furniture. The balcony is nice but I didnt have a great view of anything. Two TVs are nice. The robe in the room had holes and was frayed. The halls and lobby are dark with several lights not working and even some hanging wires where hardware is missing. The room service food (except dessert) is god awful and so expensive. My ‘omelet’ looked like a sheet of eggbeaters had been cut and rolled up. The breakfast potatoes were either burnt or mushy. I had chicken soup 1 night and there was maybe 4 pieces of chicken. I have a picture. The people who deliver the food are professional and friendly. The rest of the food was a part of the conference I was there to attend and it was not good. Conference space : average. Beautiful decor. Chandeliers. Staff was fine. One lady tried to close the ladies room when there was a gala dinner taking place but she understood our concerns once we asked her not to close it. The food wasn’t good at all. The restaurants attached to the hotel were good. The bars were overpriced but had good service and drinks. The casino seemed normal. I don’t really gamble. I was excited to stay here because so many people told me it was their favorite and I don’t understand why. It was overpriced and underwhelming and it wasn’t even my money.

MGM Cost Cutting Evident

Journey683740 on Jul 16, 2024

We've had very nice previous stays at The Cosmo before its acquisition by MGM. As with most of its other properties though, the MGM cost cutting has become increasingly noticeable even at a once premium property like The Cosmo. On this last visit, MGM has cut the in-room amenities, including the slippers and bottled toiletries. For a luxury property, I would expect individual bottled toiletries instead of those cheap looking pumps prevalent at lower-end properties these days. The one silver lining is you can use as much shampoo and body wash as you want now, rather than rationing the tiny bottles over an extended stay. In addition, half of the tv channels listed on the in-room televisions didn't actually work during our stay, meaning MGM probably decided to reduce its cable selection, but hadn't updated the list yet. This felt like more cost-cutting and is really evidence of the seemingly impending decline of this property. Staff also just seemed to not want to be there in general, which was not the case before. They did their jobs adequately, but the energy just seemed off and worse than prior visits. It's rare that I'd say this, but this was one instance where an offering by a private equity firm was vastly superior. Based on what we've come to expect from The Cosmo under Blackstone ownership, MGM's stewardship of this property has been disappointing and it seems like death by a thousand cuts at this point for The Cosmo.

Good spot for some but not all

LA_tao (Los Angeles, CA) on Jul 14, 2024

After visiting the cosmo multiple times I finally had the chance to stay here with family after the 4th of July holiday. I think many of the complaints in other reviews stem from the sheer size of this hotel. It’s just so massive and so frequently visited that perhaps staff are just overwhelmed. That said expect long waits for check in and any requests for extra towels, housekeeping, etc. are likely to go unanswered. Pros The highlights here are the central location, spacious rooms (most with amazing views), and fantastic restaurants and speakeasy bars like ski chalet and ghost donkey. We were lucky and got a 36th floor room overlooking the Bellagio fountains. And summer prices are cheaper than peak season. More cons Walking from the room to the parking structure took at least 15 minutes each way. The pool offered zero shade. [see photo] Tip - now that cosmo is part of the MGM group you can visit all the partner hotels with your room key to access free parking and pools. I would stay again if it were as good a deal as I got on a third party travel site but otherwise I may just visit the bars and restaurants.
