Trouble in Paradise

Our reservation included transportation to and from the resort to the airport. We were not picked up at the airport as promised until 2.5 hours late. We could not reach anyone at the WhatsApp number the resort provided for customer service. On the way back we did get picked up at the correct time, but the van had hot air blowing the entire time and we were sweltering for over two hours. Our rooms were dirty. There were an inadequate number of towels. Beach towels were unavailable all day "in the dryer" and we only had washcloths and hand towels days 1 and 2. The staff was overworked, insufficient, and looked miserable to see us. You had to stand in line every day to make your dinner reservation for the night. Once you got to dinner, it could take up to 1 hour just to get water poured at the table. The food was mostly poor. The pool area had multiple lounge chairs without cushions, people "claimed" a lounge chair and then didn't sit in it for hours, there was one bartender for the pool bar, which ran out of glasses frequently. The beach was fairly dirty, you had to wade through seagrass and what felt like acorns before you got to sand. Definitely not one of the top beaches for that area of Costa Rica. I could go on and on. It was not a good experience to say the least. Don't let the pretty pictures of the resort fool you. The outside is pretty, but everything else is subpar.

What a disappointment. The food is second rate and the staff is not well trained. The shower does not get hot no matter how long you wait.

A very positive holiday experience at Hotel Azura.

We wanted to go to an all-inclusive, adult resort in Costa Rica. We were very happy with our experience at the Hotel Azura near Samara. The staff were most efficient and pleasant. The hotel was kept clean at all times. The front desk was always available for information and advise. All the arrangements for the meals were varied by making use of the self-serve restaurant for breakfasts and making reservations for lunches and suppers at one of the other 3 restaurants. We had not realized that we would be visiting during the rainy season but this did not impact on our vacation.

Disappointed for cost of hotel, broken items, constant hassle

Expected more for the amount we paid for this hotel. While the pool area and beach were BEAUTIFUL, the hotel itself kept missing the mark. Coffee maker didn’t work in our room our or neighbors room. Wanted to fall asleep to tv, but the batteries were dead. Once we got batteries, the smart services on the tv wouldn’t work. After maintenance couldn’t “fix” it, they realized it’s not a smart tv despite the remote having Netflix and Amazon buttons on it. Public coffee machines were out of milk. Shower doesn’t get hot enough, had to hold the handhold sprayer and inch from my body to feel hot enough. Got a garden view room, ended up being a construction view room. None of the bars, check-in area or gift shop had change so we could tip our servers. Asked staff about small bites I was feeling, in fear they were no-see-ums, and they told me they were purrajas and not to worry. In a quick search, I learned those were no-see-ums, and for anyone who had been bit by these bugs knows how awful they are. Should have been told to cover up or put on bug spray or to come back during times not dawn/dusk. And small note: no full length mirror. Most of these things would have been fine at a budget hotel, but this was a +$600 night hotel.

Good staff especially Cristian the driver and tour guide, I really enjoyed his hospitality and service, I am totally grateful
