Azura Hotel

Hotel is mediocre at best. Towels are hard to come by, no bottle water, power shuts off continuously, the hotel was without running water from 10 am to 6 pm today. Couldn’t flush the toilets all day. Breakfast is extremely poor, there’s very little selection. The restaurant food is pretty good. Trying to get a can of beer is next to impossible. The pool bar didn’t have any beer today and they wouldn’t hand out can beer. Overall it was okay but management is extremely poor and very stingy. I will not return.
Great Week at Azura

My friend and I spent a week at Azura and absolutely loved it! It is a small and private resort with respectful and quiet clientele. The beach was vast, clean and with not crowded. It is a walking distance from Samara. The bed was very comfortable, and the food was fresh and delicious (the ceviche was to die for)! You can enjoy live music every evening, which is super lovely. The employees were absolutely outstanding and really made us feel welcome. A particular mention to Rolo, who always made sure we had the best experience and drinks! Thank you for the week -- we definitely would book again!

The hotel looks nice and the pictures are generally representative of what you see. We had booked a room that was supposed to have a private pool. It sort of did in that it was on an end with a waterfall (see photo) but it still connected with other rooms swim-out/ pool area but didn’t actually connect to the main pool. The room was spacious; however, there were a few items notably lacking. The safe was already locked so it wasn’t usable. We were only there for two nights so I didn’t bother saying anything. The mini bar is not stocked, only a few cokes and coke zeros with two beers. A little unusual for an all-inclusive in this price range ($600-$1000, non-suite rooms, type dependent). Additionally, there were no toiletries that typically accompany these stays that you would find in a typical Secrets, such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, sun screen and in some cases bug spray. No robes either ladies. Maybe you could ask for them, but I did not. The sink was odd and one side of the sink splashed water all over the floor. The shower also had low water pressure. My husband did fine but if you have lots of hair washing it might be a challenge ladies and long-haired gentlemen. Our air conditioning worked well. I saw other reviews where it did not. You cannot make dinner reservations until the day of, which is slightly annoying if you like to plan ahead. Dinner reservations before 7pm were difficult to get. They liked to use What’s App, which I have used before with hotels, but when we went to make dinner reservations there was no response and I still had to go to the front desk, which is said they were trying to prevent by using What’s App is having too many guests waiting at the front desk. You also have to ask the front desk for pool towels. Very strange. These have always been readily available at every all-inclusive I’ve stayed in (Secret’s, IberoStar, Xcaret). The staff present were friendly, but they appeared short-staffed. Drinks were slow at all bars except the Grill & Chill. If you are a foodie, the food is generally straightforward, but not special. Snacks were definitely re-heated/ microwave or quick fry for the most part. Same for the drinks. They also don’t tend to ask if you want any re-fills. Not sure if that is the resort trying to save some money or just a little short-staffed. Dinner was also notably slow and at both Tao and Bocatto they were each out of a dish was asked for. The portions are also on the small side, but you can just order more. My suggestions to the hotel would be to pay a bit more attention to What’s App if that is the communication of choice, have a few toiletries and working safes along with readily available pool towels. From recent reviews I’ve read those things would go a long way for most folks.
