Solid 4* Resort

ROOM: I don’t know if we were lucky, but we didn’t encounter the issues listed in the other reviews. We stayed in building #9 (behind the pool bar) and the rooms and balconies were probably the smallest, but we had no problems with the room : comfortable king size bed, no issues with AC or hot water. The coffee and fridge were replenished everyday. FOOD: Foodwise, we found it good. If you are looking for traditional « American food », you won’t get it here. Fruits, salad bar, omelette/waffle bar, rice, potatoes, fish, meat on the grill, etc. There was pasta (3 times) and bacon (once). Other than the ALC, which were good, we always ate at the buffet because the food at the pool bar was not very good (fries, chicken nuggets, onion rings, popcorn, sandwich, nachos and fruits) though they had chicken wings on our last day! We never had a problem getting a drink (beer, rhum or wine). STAFF: We dealt with the front desk staff twice: on our arrival and to tell them we would be gone for 2 days. They were very polite. All the staff we encountered worked hard either at the bar, buffet or ALC. LOUNGER: It's true that there are not many loungers, especially at the beach, but we never had a hard time finding one unless you are looking for a specific spot. And we were not “reserving” our lounger at 6h30 am! BEACH: We loved the beach on the other side of the estuary. The beach in front of the hotel is rocky but at low tide you can sit at the opening of the river or swim in the sea. Overall, it’s a nice no frill resort with a great location. You can walk to town, either on the beach or the road, and it is about 3 km. We went to Costa Rica to visit a new country. Since we only had a week, we chose this resort because it was the cheapest option for Tamarindo. We rented a car and went to La Fortuna for 2 days to see another part of the country and it was still the cheapest option!

My experience at this hotel was very disappointing. 1. Customer Service: The front desk staff was sometimes rude and spoke in their own language, which made me feel uncomfortable, as if they were talking about me. Additionally, when I forgot my toothbrush, I asked the reception if they had any extra. Instead of simply telling me that I could buy one at the store across from the customer service desk, they told me that I wasn’t a premium guest and wouldn’t be given one. This was unnecessary and embarrassing—if I’m staying at a resort, it’s obvious I can afford a $3 toothbrush. By the way, Jose said that was very embarrassing. 2. Cleanliness: The room was not properly cleaned. The mattress had mold, the pillow had blood stains, and overall, the room was dirty. 3. Internet Service: The internet was very slow and unreliable, making it difficult to use. 4. Hotel Condition: The hotel is outdated and does not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel. It felt more like a 2-star hotel or a motel. Air condition wasn't working at my room. 5. Bathroom Issues: The drainage in the bathtub wasn’t working properly, causing water to overflow. The hotel itself is outdated and does not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel. It felt more like a 2-star hotel or even a motel. I would not recommend staying here unless major improvements are made.
