We booked unit 66-3 through Air BnB. The location for sunsets is absolutely amazing! The unit itself was comfortable and the amenities are great. The entertainment staff, and in particular Guadalupe were the right balance of engaging for us. Guadeloupe would invite us to participate and always translated conversations to English so we would feel included in the activity (Bingo and Darts). The public areas here were lovely. One pool with a wet bar and plenty of seating in the sun and the shade. There is a small ‘hot tub’ on a different elevation than the wetbar pool that was just cooler than the air temp, perfect for sitting in and reading a book. The chairs at the pool could use cushions or something as I found them very uncomfortable- now, I spent a lot of time reading in them. There is a third pool at the hotel restaurant. It is a beautiful location with a nice pool. The food in the buffet was tasty. Especially the specialty items. We chose to do 2 days of all inclusive and 5 feeding ourselves. We walked to several restaurants and enjoyed the frequent shuttles for our return trips- those sunsets come at a price. The hills are steep!

The hotel is great. The best thing about it is the food and restaurant, it has such a nice view! Second time we stay and wont bw the last!

Beds were springy and rooms smelled musty. We stayed in the hotel section Friendly staff, delicious food, beautiful views.

We spent 16 days at Villas Sol and enjoyed it very much. We had a wonderful ocean view room that was clean and comfortable. The view and sunsets are amazing. The resort feels more like an authentic Costa Rican experience than some larger resorts, which we appreciate very much. The beach in Playa Hermosa has been one of our favourites for many years. We had the meal plan and surprisingly did not tire of it. There was a nice mix of Costa Rican and international cuisine. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Carlos, Stanley, Tamara, Maria, Sophia, Jason Dayana & Haley all served us with friendly smiles and took time to chat with us and even attempted to teach us a little more Spanish. They feel like friends after 16 days! Marco was also kind enough to check in with us regularly to ensure our time here was going well. All of the chefs did a wonderful job and food was always tasty. On our final night, chef Fander surprised us with a special dessert. The bartenders were also very kind and made the effort to know our preferences. Photographer, Chelo, took beautiful photos of us at sunset and we were pleased to bring home some sweet memories in one of our favourite places. He was very friendly and helpful. Byron who works in entertainment/activities was a pleasure to chat with as well. The cleaning staff did a very good job keeping our room clean and tidy. There are many more staff that we haven’t named, but we can honestly say they were all friendly, kind and competent. We had a wonderful experience at Villas Sol and will be happy to return in the future!
