Not the best but not the worst

For all intents and purposes (a place to lay my head & sleep), my stay at Outrigger was favorable. I arrived 5ish hours before check-in. They allowed us to enjoy the amenities. They gave us beach towels and held our luggage until our room was ready. Once the room was ready, they called me and let me know. When we arrived to the room, the door lock was not operating well. We had to call maintenance. They never repaired the door lock to working order. The carpets were stained in multiple places. The furniture looked like it was all from different yard sales because it didn’t match. The carpet felt as if there was no padding. The mattress were worn out, as were the pillows. Water pressure in my room was really weak….. and it never really ever got warmer! The pools and the grounds were beautifully manicured. Breakfast was buffet style and was the same exact thing each day. It was definitely NOT worth $35/person! My favorite part was most definitely walking the beach… but couldn’t do much of that (not enough beach,) and the fireworks shows on Friday nights! Outrigger IS undergoing a face lift so I hope it’s better for future patrons, as I likely won’t be back any time soon.

The OUTRIGGER is an older resort, needing some upkeep and upgrades, but don't we all? Very helpful port-cohere valets, front desk, etc. However, to note: the rate you SEE here is not the REAL rate as: 1. EVERYONE who has a car, and a car is needed to get around, must pay $35 plus tax, per night of your stay. 2. If you are staying in an "owner marketed" place, then you don't have to pay the additional $25 resort fee. Lobby area looks neat, but when one goes down the stairs towards the spa, it is evident that the tile floor needs replacing. Chipped and stained. The gym is not sanitary. At all. Missing 15lb weights, and a filthy weight rack with dust and rust. The treadmill is rusted out on the sides. The elliptical works, and has an iPhone and headphone jack insert. You'll be in luck if the iPhone you have is the original with the 3/4 inch charging socket. Windows looking to the outsides are in need of a cleaning as it is difficult to enjoy the view of opposing condos and "lake" through the dirt/rain speckled glass. Baseboards collect dust. Location: Great! Close enough to the airport. Amenities: Great! Plenty of pools, and a couple of hot tubs (which get very crowded) Room we stayed in: Also in need of updates. The host was responsive in taking care of maintenance issues (one broken lightbulb, one dead bulb, a wonky slider that didn't close/lock well until WD40 was sprayed on it. Safe didn't lock but "we didn't advertise there was a safe..." Would I stay there again? Only on flight nights. At a better rate. Photos are in my cell phone. I'll try to add them later.
