Old and Disappointing

Laurie620 (Norman, Oklahoma) on Dec 13, 2025

We’ve been going to PBEB for 20 years. The staff here is great and the grounds are still beautiful, but the maintenance on the buildings is nearly non-existent. The rooms are looking shabby. The restaurants are not good anymore, which is very problematic since it’s far from town. I’m not sure we’ll go back. It’s disappointing since PBEB is a nice quiet location in Mazatlan, a very active and loud city. The pools are looking old too, and the best chairs are reserved for Villas owners. I would not recommend this place to my friends.

Emerald Bay --A Must Visit in Mazatlan

Voyage64476585531 on Dec 13, 2025

PB Emerald Bay is one of the better PB Properties. Located outside of the city this resort has quiet atmosphere and Staff is fantastic. However, if you are a traveler that wishes not to engage with the staff, expect to treated as any average tourist. If you engage with the staff,, TRY to speak their language, say hello and Thank You.. your visit will be so much more rewarding. Upon our arrival, we were checked in by Jesis Eduardo. He was most coedial. He assigned us a room that was beyond expectations ( master one bedroom) It was nearly in the center of the resort . Jesus Aramburo is the best cart driver on the resort. Diana in the concierge office goes above and beyond to make your visit relaxing and enjoyable. Yes the resort is showing some wear and tear but that adds to the ambiance to visiting Mexico. If you have an issue with something in your rom, Call and they will come ASAP to take care of the problem. Moises in financial/ sales was the most comfortable salesperson we have ever encountered at any resort which includes, Wyndham, Worldmark and other resorts that "Pressure" you to buy. Food is above average. I had the best steak ever at Kellys Bar. Daily housekeeping is always on top of everything you need in the room. Note: We had all-inclusive but that was sold to us at a phenomenal price as my wife is very engaging with the reservations staff. Be nice..you get Nice back. Really!!!

Once Exceptional, Now Questioning the Value of All-Inclusive

Wyo-Goat (Gillette, Wyoming) on Dec 12, 2025

We have been coming to Emerald Bay for years, and unfortunately this most recent visit highlighted a steady decline that has been building over time. When we first started visiting, the food across the resort was genuinely top-notch in both quality and variety. That is no longer the case. Menus have been significantly reduced. The Bistro now offers roughly a third of the options it had five years ago. Cilantro has about half the menu it offered when it reopened. Angelo’s, for the first time in nine years of visits, was disappointing, not due to staff (who were excellent), but because of reduced menu selection and overall quality, with increased additional cost. One particularly frustrating change at least for us is at Kelly’s. There is no longer basic bar food available, only French fries. While special nights understandably limit options, you should not have to leave Kelly’s and get room service to get a simple burger and a beer. That’s a basic expectation at a resort of this caliber, especially when paying for all-inclusive. Because of these changes, this was the first time we genuinely questioned whether the all-inclusive package premium or otherwise is still worth it. Facility maintenance is also becoming a concern. Our room frequently smelled musty and mildewy, and the kitchen had a noticeable ant problem even without leaving food out. After speaking with other guests, it was clear our room was not an exception. Given the maintenance fees owners pay, these issues are difficult to understand. I have stayed at timeshares in Puerto Vallarta and Cancun that are older than Emerald Bay and are far better maintained. One example that sums this up: an underwater light in the adult pool has been partially falling out for at least three years. There’s simply no reason for something that minor to remain unfixed for that long. We also purchased premium all-inclusive based on the alcohol list provided at the time of purchase, only to find that several of those brands were no longer available upon arrival. That felt misleading. Premium or Platinum guests should also have access to a broader wine selection to justify the upgrade. The staff throughout the resort were friendly and professional—these issues are clearly not their fault. Emerald Bay used to be exceptional. With reinvestment and a renewed focus on quality, it could be again, but right now the value proposition has noticeably slipped.

We Love this place. Service was excellent and the grounds were kept extremely clean. A very special shout out to the front desk manager Jesu Juarez. He was extremely professional and welcoming. I love Mazatlan.

The resort is beautiful and the staff in all areas are professional friendly and courteous. A real gem in Mazatlan

This resort is excellent. A beautiful place full of lush foliage and wonderful places to hang out. The staff are all great. Junior, Victor, Felipe to name just a few. They go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant and stress free. We did the all inclusive package. The food was great in all restaurants and drinks were awesome. The bed was super comfortable and it was nice to have a veranda with our suite. Coming back!
