AWESOME - sums it all up!

Just returned from Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach. We completely enjoyed our stay here. If you go hungry, it's because you are a very picky eater. There was plenty of options to choose from - always everything from pasta to rice, beef, pork, and fish options, as well as french fries and sliders for the younger crowd. Shout out to the lovely young lady who made my omelets every morning (sorry I did not get her name). The beach was groomed every morning and was always cleaned - too bad some tourists can't clean up after themselves - but the resort staff worked very hard to keep the entire resort looking spotless. You can not get a room with a bad view. Every room faces the sea. Our room was cleaned daily with no complaints needed. The entertainment staff are so friendly and really do care if you are having a good time or not. Another shout out to Crackas!! She stopped by to chat with us everyday to make sure we were having a great stay and to help with anything she could to make our stay better. We went with the plan to sit on the beach, read our books and relax. This was the absolute right place to do just that. This resort definitely made a good impression on us and made us want to return to Jamaica again. Thank you to everyone! Keep smiling those beautiful smiles!
Stunning location - most beautiful beach in Montego Bay
guillerm00 (Willemstad, Curacao) on Sep 07, 2024
Since the arrived moment, I was stunned with the gorgeous view from the lobby - named lobby ocean view!! The staff were very friendly an authentic inspiring you with the Jamaica vibe, I had my room located in the second floor with a great pool and ocean views, the room looks new and great size same like the bathroom. At the same floor the hotel has a coffee bar open almost 24 hrs with a terrace to enjoy the gorgeous view. Great food teste and flavor everyday something different however keeping the traditional American breakfast ( omelette, bacon, etc) and international food. The entertainment team always have something fun to offer like karaoke, game at the pool area and more, live violin playing in the evening I love it! Also staying on this hotel I enjoyed the restaurants and facilities of the resort next door so book 1 enjoy 2 resorts ( free flow) between the resorts. 100% sure the hotel has the best beach in Montego Bay! I had good time there.
Substandard service

What an experience! I will start with the few positives. The hotel is set in a beautiful, clean and safe location. Our room had a lovely ocean view and our balcony overlooked the pool which was cleaned regularly. There were shaded areas on the beach, under umbrellas made from natural materials. The front desk staff were welcoming and we were checked in quickly. Jerome, the bellman was polite and clearly enjoys his job. It was a pleasure meeting Alicia Gray, the housekeeper who stood in while our regular housekeeper was on her day off. She is an asset to the hotel. There were only a few other staff that I found to be helpful and happy in their role. I spent 2 weeks with my 13 year old daughter at this hotel and was extremely disappointed. I have been to Jamaica on several occasions and stayed in quite a few hotels, but this one was by far the worst! The room was basic with a random picture on the wall, a TV and outdated furniture. The problems started on night one of our holiday. The shower design and installation is so bad! The shower curb is almost flushed with the floor and the floor isn’t sloped to enable proper drainage. There was no way of preventing water from spilling out of the shower door and all across the bathroom floor. I had to ask for someone to come and mop up. It was certainly a shock on night one! I later found out that this was the situation in all the rooms. The shower head is also fixed rigid, allowing no option to adjust the direction of the water. Shortage of towels and bath mats were also a big issue. The housekeepers clean the room well, but were not able to readily replace bath towels and mats… it was always promises to come back with the towels and sometimes they didn’t come back. On night four there was no water supply for about 3 hours. I was undressed, ready to take my shower and had to get dressed again. The staff didn’t volunteer any information or apology until after I asked what was going on. Fortunately I had some baby wipes which I used, but not ideal in a hot climate. The food provided was mostly tasty, but could have been more varied. There were a number of dishes that were regularly on the menu… repetitive meals. In a hotel you wouldn’t expect to see leftover foods from the night before on the breakfast buffet, but sure enough they were sometimes served. Also, it seemed from my observations that there were no considerations around food allergies or intolerance, which I did mention to the TUI representative. Soon after that, the staff began asking guests about food allergies before allocating them to their tables in the restaurant. Amongst the juices available at breakfast one morning was a container with ‘green juice’ which a member of staff advised me not to drink because he said, ‘I don’t know what they put in it, but it doesn’t look the way that it should’. The buffet bar was seldom open on time and there was limited choice of soft drinks. They were often out of Sprite! Entertainment was boring! My last two nights were the best… there was a dance group, a steel band and a magician. Antonio who sometimes sings in the lobby is excellent! Considering that this establishment is supposedly a family resort, the daytime quizzes at the beach bar, were often inappropriate with questions of a sexual nature. There was no kids’ club or activities to engage young people. Fortunately, my daughter is sociable and was able to build friendships with other teenage guests at the hotel, were most of their time was spent in the pool. Staff- I would say that a majority need training in hospitality, including the security team. Communication was poor! They were mostly miserable and looked as if they didn’t want to be at work. I even had my drink slammed down on the table in front of me by a member of staff. I had to ask her if she was alright? I observed two male staff arguing openly and aggressively in the presence of guests. Worst of all, keep your eyes on your young girls! My 13 year old daughter and her 15 year old friend were catcalled by male staff from the entertainment team a number of times, with one saying he didn’t know which one of them to choose and he asked for their phone numbers. He told them that he was 24 years old and mentioned that he was previously involved with a 15 year old girl when he was 22! Disgusting!! Unfortunately my daughter only mentioned this to me on the day that we were leaving, so I was unable to submit another complaint. I did mention some of my concerns to the TUI representatives and to Bernadette, the hotel’s guests service representative. Bernadette offered me a facial, by way of a goodwill gesture, which I accepted and it was lovely. However, it doesn’t address the many issues with the service at this hotel. If you don’t care about good standards and have money to waste, then this is the hotel for you. I have BIG regrets!
Worst Resort in Jamaica!

This was the worst resort I have ever been to in my life . The front desk (male) staff was so rude. My sister needed a blanket for her daughter to sleep and we never received it. Other than the beach and outdoors. Everything was below mediocre. I will never stay here or recommend this to anyone !
Overall, the quality of the food and services were not “royal” and did not match the high price of our stay.

Food: If you are looking for authentic Jamaican food, look outside of this resort. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner lacked the flavors of the island. On multiple occasions, I settled for a plate of boiled vegetables due to the disappointing selections of meat and other dishes. The bar does not serve basic soft drinks like Sprite, Ginger Beer, or Ginger Ale. There seems to be a shortage of spoons as well. Towel Service: For three consecutive days, beach towels were unavailable in the morning. Staff: The multi-talented staff were friendly and polite. They ensured that my family and I were enjoying ourselves and taking advantage of all the activities the resort had to offer. Animals: There are cute cats on the premises. Rooms: Rooms are air conditioned. The cleaning staff kept my room sparkling and tidy. After the first night, they only provided one towel set for a three person room.
