Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa has advised renovation work has begun to expand Bluewater Grill restaurant, adding a terrace for guest enjoyment and additional seating, with an expected completion date of November 30, 2025. The Bluewater Grill will remain open and fully operational, with steps being taken to ensure the guest experience is not affected.
For guest safety, the areas under renovation will be clearly marked and secured. The nature of the work does not involve disruptive activities. All efforts will be made to minimize impact to guests during this time.

Very happy with this resort!

Just returned from our first trip to Dreams Onyx; this was my wife and my first time to Punta Cana or any all-inclusive resort. We were there with 11 other friends (no children), for 5 nights. First, choosing the “preferred” package was key; the preferred pools, beach, bars and lounges, and especially the added access to the adjacent adult only resort Breathless was well worth the additional expense. Also, our personal concierge, Leonardo, was very helpful and responsive to everyone in our group! I would rate our individual room, and the pools and beaches all 10/10. After reading other reviews before going, I think I had realistic expectations for the quality of the food. I wasn’t expecting Michelin-starred restaurants. The variety, quantity, and availability were terrific, but some items were certainly better than others; all things considered, I’d probably give the food an 8/10 overall. Our favorite was the Japanese Hibachi. The alcoholic drinks were very good, particularly at the preferred bars where the brands were of a higher quality (but not “top shelf”). All of the liquor drinks seemed weak however, compared to drinks you’d expect at a typical drinking establishment stateside (the champagne was 7% alcohol, for instance); our group generally felt this was probably a good thing, considering the quantity of drinks we consumed. Finally, the property was very well maintained and clean, and every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful and seemed to enjoy their work. My wife and I would definitely consider visiting this resort again in the future!
Great resort, except….

I would rate 5/5, but smoking is allowed everywhere outside at the resort. Not in the in rooms, thankfully. If you don’t like cigarette, cigar, and vape smells, do not come here unless they change their policy. I really which the family resort was smoke-free and adult smokers can enjoy themselves at Breathless next door. Other than the smoking issue, the resort is amazing. Most of the staff are fun, friendly and attentive. The 4 pools each offer a different vibe, plus adults can go to Breathless to change it up more. There’s many different food choices and it’s solidly decent food, especially for an AI. Some dishes are excellent. But do not expect Michelin star meals. There’s a coral reef in front of Breathless to explore and fun Atlantic waves to play in. Drink service seems to be everywhere! even some preferred room patios! 24 hour delicious Dominican coffee and adequate room service meals.
